All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
372416 tn?1242665752 you've described rls perfectly...its very common for addicts to have this during their wds. it's also a medical mystery for other people who have never used or been addicted...they use requip to treat it, but its non-narcotic. rls is just torture when you only wanna sleep...i'm still waiting for mine to end. maybe tonight?
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar n tn I take requip for RLS. I take .5 mg 1hr before bedtime. This med works on the dopamine receptors. These same receptors are effected when you use narcotics. Another homeopathic med I found is called "Leg Cramps" and its made by Hylands Homeopathic Labs. You take 3-4 tabs (sublingually) every couple of hrs as needed. I know a lot of people think that" if its OTC it cant be very effective"., But this stuff has quinine in it and i really helps me.
Avatar f tn Of course RLS, and RLS-type s/s related to w/d are two different things, but I personally think your doctor's way of trying to find out which you are experiencing is off. Since you're weaning, you're likely to experience the w/d r/t RLS and after the two weeks and you're done 'em, you're likely to experience them even more. I really don't think it's a good time to try to figure it out.
3141490 tn?1343129677 I would suggest that you get in touch with your regular doctor and ask for a prescription of Requip which is very effective for RLS. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I take Requip for it. Works great. One before I go to bed.
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar n tn In response to others questions about RLS. I have had extreme pain and burning in my legs for years, but only when I try to sleep or recline. I don't get the jerking sensation as some do, but I do move constantly for relief. My vascular dr. did an ultrasound and then did an EVLT procedure. This was wasted time and money as it did not help. There are a few things I have found to be helpful for me and want to pass on in hopes of help for others.

Avatar m tn I have had RLS all of my life and I tried the Requip as well which helpedd me but when I was w/ding it did not help a bit. I usually (when I am not using) have to shake my feet until I go to sleep. I take a hot shower before I go to sleep and that helps a little but depending on how long I have been on my feet during the day I still have to shake my feet and stretch my legs and calves for a few minutes before I can go to sleep.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar n tn m totally becoming homeless and the doctors are trying to find me any relief. Requip and gapapintin is what I been on for years and other types including patches Nupro to little help and now Requip is to little help and a couple hours of sleep night after night I worry is this. I'm off work do to showing positive COVID-19 with that being said you see I'm battling some difficult things.
445838 tn?1205786577 They seemed to have the opposite effect and made me jittery. I also never had rls prior to having detoxed, and it really surprised me. While I can't say that anything worked "great" for me personally, what DID help, was wrapping a heating pad around my legs. The worst feelings for me started at the knees and was mainly in my calves and feet. Baths helped while I was in them, but the relief was gone shortly after.
Avatar m tn Other reasons of RLS could be rheumatoid arthritis, kidney failure, diabetes or any underlying heart disorder. The leg pain of RLS typically eases with movement of the legs and becomes more evident at rest. Therefore, medicine dosage is usually prescribed before going to bed. Though there is no permanent cure of RLS, it is advisable that you take regular & sound sleep to get relief from your symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have taken 3 baths, laid in the floor with an electric blanket and heating pad wrapped around my leg. I just took my 2nd Requip pill for the night. Slathered my leg with the cream I bought. What usually works is not. If this would go away I would fall asleep like that. Right now I am holding my leg straight up in the air. I am so tired. Just whining. This is killing me. Plus I am sneezing tons and really gassy. Stomach is fine.
Avatar f tn Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!
Avatar f tn meds are available for both sleep and rls.....read the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Profile and follow them....they work. It wont be a bed of roses, but the bad part will take from 4-7 days of fluish symptoms and then get better and better.......ask more questions if you have them....magnesium/calcium and things can be added to bathwater to help with rls - and the supplements will also help. Some others are quite good at helping sleep issues.........
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar m tn You should go see a doctor because it could be a pinched nerve or something. I've had RLS for years and when it started I would just stretch or use a stationary bike and then I'd be able to sleep. It isn't really a pain for me but like.... well like I just can't stand to stay still. I have to move my legs and flex and stretch. I would actually get into a stretch that made my legs feel better and try to fall asleep that way.
Avatar f tn Well, if you are hyper and feel hyperactive this would increase it. I also suffer horribly from RLS and I take Requip for it. Right now I am mildly hypermanic from the bipolar and mine are about to drive me insane. If you will lay in bed and read for 30 minutes and not get up just lay there and go to sleep--I can't do this have to get up and pee before I can go to sleep--it releases something in your brain that is suppose to stop the transmission that makes them do that.
Avatar n tn After doing some research on this drug I found out that it can actually make your symptoms worse. My doctor put me on Ultram and it really helps with the RLS and my lower leg pain. Please talk to your doctor. These symptoms you are having are not right.
