Dosage of requip for rls

Common Questions and Answers about Dosage of requip for rls

requip

Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually cause of RLS is unknown, but it is essential that you consult your treating doctor before decreasing or stopping the recommended dose. Other reasons of RLS could be rheumatoid arthritis, kidney failure, diabetes or any underlying heart disorder. The leg pain of RLS typically eases with movement of the legs and becomes more evident at rest. Therefore, medicine dosage is usually prescribed before going to bed.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar m tn I had tried all the usual medications for rls before taking the Ultram. I have tried requip, mirapex, sinamet, gabapentin, lyrica and a host of others. Ultram was the only one that worked well. For three and a half years I was free of the rls syptoms. Now though I am afraid I am going to experience not only increased rls symptoms but also the other withdrawl symptoms associated with quiting the Ultram. I am looking for responses from others that have been in this boat.
1182133 tn?1266851531 I know how you feel, I laid in jail for 7 days with no sleep due to RLS, but when I started taking in large amounts of potassium when I was released it subsided. Vicodin withdrawals come hard but leave faster than Methadone, which is what I quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago. I'm sure you know all this, and everyone's experience is different but the physical stuff was the easy part for me. It's the depression that I can't bare.
372416 tn?1242665752 you've described rls perfectly...its very common for addicts to have this during their wds. it's also a medical mystery for other people who have never used or been addicted...they use requip to treat it, but its non-narcotic. rls is just torture when you only wanna sleep...i'm still waiting for mine to end. maybe tonight?
Dog But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
620048 tn?1358018235 Hi Meg, I take requip(2mg 2x/daily) & I haven't developed a gambling habit yet lol & thank God. I'm seriously broke so I guess gambling isn't an option lol. Most of the time they tell you to take it at night before bedtime for restless leg syndrome but since I have the same problem you do I was told 2x daily.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried Requip for Restless Legs while trying to detox off of Subutex or Suboxone? This is the worst part for me in trying to get off of Subutex & I am literally scared sh**less of them. I had them so bad that I almost over-dosed on Klonopin & Somas (from a family member) to rid myself of them. I am on less than 1 mg of Subutex a day now & having anxiety & diarrhea. That I can handle, but the RLS I can not. Any advice or experience would be great!
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Requip for RLS, which I had so bad with my Tramadol withdrawal, I would rock and bounce for hours during both the day and night. I had RLS for at least 6 hours or more a day for almost a month. I took the Requip for the first 40 days, now I take it 2x a week. My doc said after I hit 2 months or more off the opiates, we can talk about me jumping off the Requip all together.
3141490 tn?1343129677 I would suggest that you get in touch with your regular doctor and ask for a prescription of Requip which is very effective for RLS. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn A few months ago my daily thyroid dosage was reduced and since then I have very bad symptoms of RLS every night and hardly sleeping at all. Even in the day my legs ache but this is nowhere near as bad because I am not resting. I have always suffered from RLS but nowhere to the extent that I am suffering now. It seems to be relentless. Any help would be gratefully received.
Avatar n tn I just want to say that I HATE RLS -- for me it's the worst part of detox!!! I just wanted to put that out there..
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar m tn I do know many have used Requip for RLS and it is non addictive. Vicodin gives you a false sense of security. When i was using in the beginning i had energy that wouldnt quit but towards the end i became depressed and had no energy. Only you can answer the question of being addicted. I would talk to your doctor and ask him what you have asked here. Hopefully you can get off these as those pills are sneaky and your dosage will increase.
230948 tn?1235844329 forgot to say,its not for RLS its to help me sleep and ease pain the theary being that some fibro patients like parkinson patients have a lacking of dopimine in the brain which is a neuro transmitter for the part of the brain that controls, pain and movement nad sensations so by taking a dopimine agoinst it tricks the brain into making more dopimine but they dont know for certain if there is a lacking or not its just trial and error and last time it sent me loppy.
Avatar n tn There are a few things I have found to be helpful for me and want to pass on in hopes of help for others. I am not in the medical field, these suggestion are only from my personal experience. They are magnesium, leg elevation, a sugarless diet, use of an inversion table and COLD WATER, COLD WATER, COLD WATER! Many times I hang my legs in the pool on cool nights or I fill the tub with cold water and sit in it. This calms me enough that I usually can fall asleep.

Avatar m tn Maybe try HYLANDS for the RLS and melatonin for sleep?
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
445838 tn?1205786577 The RLS lasted about 10 days for me - remember that was a long habit for me - but they gradually got better and better, Not an issue anymore with me.
Avatar f tn I bought a cream for RLS from Walgreens that helps (not last night though) but will look for the emu stuff too. This will be a lifelong battle for me so all your suggestions are valuable.
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar f tn RLS has been the worst for me so far. Anytime I tapered I would suffer with RLS. Now I am quitting CT. Last night was bad, tonight probably going to be worse. Let me know how requip works.
Avatar f tn He also takes plenty of Norco and Percs..The Requip works very well for him..he suffers from RLS pretty bad ..He has no side effects from it and takes it at bedtime..@10 pm..and he gets up for work @5am..he doesn't feel groggy or anything...you should give it a try..especially when you are in w/d.. If your taking anything else..a pharmacist can let you know if there is any contradictions between meds.. I know that RLS can drive a person nuts..I was fortunate this time around..
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
