Common Questions and Answers about Requip and gambling

requip

620048 tn?1358018235 It does sound nutty to think Requip could be associated with gambling compulsion. I Googled this and it's true. It's been known for at least the past 2 years. However, I'm sure the incidence of this is tiny compared with number of users. I agree, we have enough hassles without having to worry about gambling!
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
Avatar f tn mirapex and requip... it seems they increase the dopamine levels with some side effects not to get overlooked by someone with addiction issues... The poster shared her experience with mirapex of getting addicted to gambling. It can happen. She even left a link of a documental made in Canada about this terrible effect of mirapex. So just in case, be aware of this or research in case you are given those meds.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have been diagnosed with RLS and requip worked for you well until it was determined to be causing side effects, and you were switched to Sinemet. One known side effect of Requip is swelling in the legs; it sounds like you had an extensive evaluation for all the symptoms you began experiencing after January 2008. Sinemet works well for RLS symptoms, but has a higher risk of eventually causing what is called augmentation, or the occurrence of symptoms earlier in the day.
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
1094974 tn?1258046298 The losing phase - Gamblers often begin bragging about wins they have had, start gambling alone, think more about gambling and borrow money legally or illegally. They start lying to family and friends and become more irritable, restless and withdrawn. Their home life becomes more unhappy, and they are unable to pay off debts. The gamblers begin to "chase" their losses, believing they must return as soon as possible to win back their losses.
Avatar f tn I'm addicted to a game gamblin site , my question is there a way of conversations to get out of this? I've been in therapy for years and it doesn't help me.
Avatar f tn Dear Kat, I do know that taking Requip itself can cause hallucinations. But he's been taken off it. Now, stopping Requip can cause confusion. So, I don't know what to make of it. I do recall when I had pneumonia, I was out of my mind, and I have never taken Requip. I suppose it's possible he's having a combination of fever hallucinations, left-over Requip hallucinations, and withdrawal confusion. Any way you look at it, he's having a very hard time.
Avatar n tn I took requip for about five years - worked, no problem. Then about 4 months ago, I started getting, out of the blue and for no obvious reason, anorexia, nausea, and finally light stomach ache. After a lot of investigative stuff, including an EGD, my gastroenterologist discovered the cause: I had become allergic to requip. Just a note of caution.
Avatar f tn Alright ladies, I need some advice. My brother is law's 21st birthday is next weekend, and he wants to go to a casino for dinner and gambling. I can't decide if I should go or not. There are non smoking rooms for gambling and the restaurants are all non smoking. I just don't know if I'm over thinking this whole thing, and if I should just go for a few hours and stay in the non smoking areas. What do you think?
514273 tn?1311609635 The plan was to always go CT from here. I only bought 3 Subs off the streets and threw away the person's contact info as soon as possible. Because of my addictive nature, it was the best course of action. It was a very restless night, but very manageable compared to previous attempts. I'm in the office and i can't keep my legs from shaking and these dang hot flashes and cold sweats keep coming and going.
Avatar f tn that only means 2 hours after I take thyroid, but I also read on synthroid list not to take calcium for 4 hrs after taking synthroid. I take one caplet in am and one in pm for calcium, and 600 mg calcium and 400 D.
1508131 tn?1289912796 I tried to approach my wife about her vicodin addiction and gamling addiction, but she said she needed her vicodin for her chronic fatigue and gambling for stress relief. She would get severely angry at me, and tell me I only want to take the things she enjoys away from her even though she needed the vicodin for her chronic fatigue. We were only married for 2 years this month, and I had to tell her to leave. Now, she said I am 100% at fault for the marriage breaking up.
Avatar n tn Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?
Avatar m tn I believe i have a drinking problem and have a history of compulsive gambling as well. I drink 2-3,4 nights a week. Am i damaging my mind? What is the answer? Is there a choice other than AA?
Avatar n tn It can take some time for the immune system to produce enough antibodies for the antibody test to detect, and this time period can vary from person to person. This time period is commonly referred to as the “window period.” Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 2 to 8 weeks (the average is 25 days). Even so, there is a chance that some individuals will take longer to develop detectable antibodies.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn requip during the day and 2 mg. requip at night along with klonopin and other sleep aids. I just split my head open walking around the house unawares. 6 stiches and broken lamps. I asked my doc about early onset of parkinson's.........is this what they go thru? I haven't slept a 7 hour night in at least 8 years. No bs. Usually I sleep 2-4 hours. I'm trying to get some barbituates from overseas because I'm so desperate. Gosh, I could relate to you.
Avatar n tn m totally becoming homeless and the doctors are trying to find me any relief. Requip and gapapintin is what I been on for years and other types including patches Nupro to little help and now Requip is to little help and a couple hours of sleep night after night I worry is this. I'm off work do to showing positive COVID-19 with that being said you see I'm battling some difficult things.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar f tn I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar n tn replacing dopamine can help rls//but ask ur dr/being an addict/meaning this condition should recover with time vs other causes of rls/feeding ur brain more dopamine via requip may not be the best route...ask ur dr...be honest..many have this and it is not drug related///stats r that those who work out and r active r less likely to suffer rls during detox as their work outs etc produce the endorphins they need to avoid rls...
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar n tn s a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. I would like to be able to go out with my friends and be able to have a few drinks for my birthday but I'm scared of the interaction with all this medication and alcohol. What could possibly be the side effects of mixing all of these.
Avatar n tn A couple of years ago I was taking requip and after awhile I started having symptoms just like yours. After doing some research on this drug I found out that it can actually make your symptoms worse. My doctor put me on Ultram and it really helps with the RLS and my lower leg pain. Please talk to your doctor. These symptoms you are having are not right.
