Avatar f tn What they gave him in the hospital is a good start, but you really need to try asking a physician to prescribe him some Requip for restless legs, Neurontin for overall distress, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation. I also like chelated magnesium for muscle relaxation. But, seriously, he must be completely committed to the goal of quitting.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar m tn At home, the basic technique is to space out the pills you take on a consistent manner until you take only one at night, then half at night and then none. See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose for sleep. It will make withdrawals easier.

Avatar f tn Lacking the reputation of heroin, many youths and novice opiate drug users engage in oxycodone abuse without understanding the consequences associated with its abuse, such as a heroin-like addiction potential and the threat of a fatal overdose. Using Percocets can cause nausea, weakness and slowed breathing. Percocets can cause impotence, enlarged prostate, and decreased testosterone secretion, thus decrease sex drive.
Avatar f tn A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar m tn I do know many have used Requip for RLS and it is non addictive. Vicodin gives you a false sense of security. When i was using in the beginning i had energy that wouldnt quit but towards the end i became depressed and had no energy. Only you can answer the question of being addicted. I would talk to your doctor and ask him what you have asked here. Hopefully you can get off these as those pills are sneaky and your dosage will increase.
Avatar m tn As briefly as I can recount , I have severe RLS I was originally on a drug called Requip and that augmented i.e. got worse and symptoms Spread to other parts of my body and I had to quit Taking it. When you stop Requip your symptoms increased tenfold for about two to four weeks or longer. During this time I found through research oxycodone to be an effective symptom reliever especially during this period. I found this to be true and I took 5 to 7.
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.

Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
