Common Questions and Answers about Relpax side effects doctor

relpax

Avatar m tn During this process he had every side effect listed. He lost over 20 lbs and looked like a skeleton. His Doctor told him to go to our GP for pills to treat his side effects. We finally went to see a liver specialist and found out he was allergic to the meds and should abort them immediately. There was a supposed 98% cure rate for this type of Hep C but it did nothing but tear down his body. On major side effect is Cluster Headaches.
Avatar n tn If you are finding that the relpax is causing unwanted side-effects, there are other triptan medications you can try for acute therapy: - Rizatriptan, brand name Maxalt. tastes pretty bad, but a lot of my friends swear by it. - Sumatriptan, brand name Imitrex. really not very effective at all in the tablet form. the most effective triptan out there pretty much in injection form... what they give you in the hospital.
Avatar n tn I agree with achilles that rebound headaches are common side effect of some medications. It is best that you inform your doctor for proper management.A change of dosage or medication may be indicated. It is also important that you identify the possible triggers of your migraines. A headache journal or the headache tracker in this forum may help you avoid these triggers. Take care and do keep us posted.
1088430 tn?1259159773 I'm being treated for chronic headaches/migraines.4yr history, only within last 6 months went back to neurologist to seek MD help again after MANY pro-active "natural" then OTC methods had failed.(4yrs ago several CT's/MRI's, then arterialgram ruled out a possible AVM or any other serious cause) Other than aboritive Relpax or Imitrex, was started on combo of Lyrica/Amitriptaline(?) Topamax ruled out due to "nerve" symptoms he said it wouldn't help.
Avatar f tn m wondering, though, if I was misdiagnosed with migraines years ago, since my headaches always occur on one side of my face or the other, and are limited to one half of my nasal bone all the way up to the inner top "corner" of my eye socket (I can feel a tiny bony structure up in the top corner). If it's really bad, the pain will radiate to a spot on the side of my head: not exactly my temple, but more like two or three finger-widths behind my temple, going toward my ear.
Avatar f tn I suffer from almost daily migrianes, constant muscle contraction headaches in my scalp, and chronic tension headaches in base of skull and neck/shoulders. Iv tried preventatives that did nothing but bad side effects. Along with all sorts of pain meds. I currentlly take ibuprofen almost daily as relpax for my migrianes when needed one with a shot of sumatriptan (immetrex) injected in my leg when the relpax fails to work.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Relpax 40 ml for the coming on of a migraine. I have been getting fewer and fewer over the years. However, I am only allowed 9 pills for the month thru my health insurance. Is there another new migraine medicine out there that I could get that would be similier but would allow me more pills for the month.
1088430 tn?1259159773 t cover your entire Relpax prescription, I am posting a link to a coupon for $15 off of your Relpax prescriptions. You apparently can't use this coupon if you have any sort of federal or state insurance, or if your private insurance covers 100% of the prescription. Otherwise, you can print this coupon and use it every time you fill your Relpax prescription (but it expires next April).
Avatar m tn My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.
Avatar n tn My doctor recently prescribed KeppraXR for my seizure disorder and migraines. (However, one side effect is headaches??). It also helps lesson (not stop) some of my CM symptoms...pain, numbness, tingling, and stiffness in my legs, arms, neck and shoulders. I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR).
Avatar f tn I took Depakote nightly to prevent migraines and had Relpax for the ocassional beak through migraine. The Depakote worked well for more than a year, and I had no side effects. It might be worth asking about. When it no longer worked for me, I tried an alternative with bad results. I've ended up taking a 12-hr sinus/allergy pill during the day, a benedryl at night, increased exercise, and am eating better. This seems to work for me most of the time now. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have heard that Inderal does have a high side-effect profile. I take the betablocker nadolol and have not noticed any side-effects yet... you might want to talk to your doctor about switching you to a different betablocker if the Inderal is giving you such terrible side-effects... maybe ask about Nadolol, a few of us here take it.. your doctor will know though what the most appropriate betablocker to try next is though. There are two other classes of preventative medication as well...
Avatar n tn Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...Anyway, I'd seriously think of giving Relpax a shot as I was for sure it wouldn't work and it did wonders.
Avatar f tn 3 hours later I still have not experienced a headache. I have been shaky and disoriented but no other problems. I spoke with the pharmacist and she advised me against taking the Relpax unless I feel a headache coming on and I've been drinking gatorade as advised. I know I am not a doctor but I'm not 100% convinced this is just the effects of a migraine or flu. I was in the hospital on friday and still blacking out on Tuesday. I am not a doctor but this is most unusual for me.
Avatar f tn The Imitrex, and Relpax worked for a short time and then but they had bad side effects on me so I am totally off of everything except tylenol. Long story short,,, I have been doing research on migraines for a long time and found what I think is a concrete connection between a PFO and migraine. A PFO is a hole in between the chambers of the heart. Everyone is born with it but for some it does not close up.
Avatar f tn I have taken Topamax for a long time with great success as long as the dose is carefully monitored (I monitor the dose and keep close track of side effects). I was signifcantly overmedicated (400mg daily) and suffered memory loss and other cognitive impairments (couldn't spell, processed info really slowly, word loss, etc) for about 2 years. My doc didn't take my complaints seriously. It got to the point that it was dangerous for me to drive.
Avatar n tn bluish discoloration of the fingers/toes/nails, severe tiredness, mental/mood changes (e.g., depression, confusion, memory problems), numbness/tingling, decreased sexual ability, trouble breathing, swelling of the feet/ankles, vision changes, unexplained/sudden weight gain.
Avatar f tn What r the treatment my doctor said IV.but I C where there's pills so confused and really wish I knew what my numbers match.Thank you.
Avatar f tn It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
1413564 tn?1281822991 If you have any prescriptions, they told me I could take my ultram (I have Fibromyalgia) with the benadryl and nausea med (Have it for side effects of FIbromyalgia) and it works like a charm. Weirdest thing too, because I have had migraines for 15 years and this worked pretty fast and didn't make me totally out of it. It was kinda cool.
730826 tn?1317943334 Im not vomiting any more but still am nausious. Its been a month since then. Can the side effects last this long or is there another reason for the nausea?
Avatar f tn Never hurts to tell your doctor, but i wouldn't be worried sounds like normal side effects to me........ Best to you going forward.
1286779 tn?1400012806 She went to a doctor yesterday about her hair and the doctor told her that it was because of this medication (Lydrica) But I have seen all side effects and none talk about hair lost. And my mother does not want to leave this medication because its the only one that works for her burning feet. Has anybody else expirence hair loss with Lydrica? She also takes Cymbalta 60mg,lyrica 75mg, Nexuim 40mg, and Tramabol 50mg. What do you all suggest she get tested for ?
