With 2 million incarcerated, the US penal system is a failure, It's a proven rehabilitation failure and a proven deterrence failure. Now it's becoming a privatized, for-profit failure. It is tough because you have so many people in prison and you have to balance that with expense. It would be good to do actual rehabilitation with inmates but the cost would be more then anyone could take.

The above situation goes back 2 years before this most recent attack. Charges were dropped on this kid for attempted murder. Was anything learned? Apparently not. Would he have learned anything in prison, something like rehabilitation? Probably not, but at least he would have been incarcerated and not able to be involved with this. Where do situations like this leave us? This kid didn't learn anything from his first scrape with the law.

I think there were a lot of factors left out of the study, and that was even mentioned in the article. I would suggest that for a lot of inmates of all/any race, the health care provided within the prison system is better than what they've received on the outside simply because upon entering prison, a medical check up is mandatory. Things are often found at this point in time and can be addressed.

So today at work I was asked to change because my shirt was going to draw too much attention to my very large belly. I felt mortified. I work in a nursing home that house the incarcerated. So I understand why I was asked to change. Mind you I wore the same shirt a month ago and no one said anything to me about it then. I was also much smaller then. Later in my shift a co-worker pointed out in front of the residents how fat I was getting. (She used the word fat).

We are encouraged to send her to a skilled nursing facility for further rehabilitation, however we are not sure when for they had not given us a discharge date for my grandmother. My question is, as soon as my grandmother receives the rehabilitation treatment, how long will it take for her to be able to walk or talk again? Would she be at risk for a stroke happening again? We understand it is an insurance issue but we might be willing to pay out of pocket for additional days for her. She will need 24/7 care at this time. She currently has no where to go that would not require stairs and she’s not able to do that yet. We have workers at her home making the adjustments for her but need another week for her to have bathroom on same level of home.

Hi all!! I am looking into going to a outpatient rehabilitation center. I was wondering if anyone here has ever gone, what all it included, if you liked it, and the price. Just wanted some input from people who have gone so I will know what to expect.

Please propose drugs that can be taken oral, because drug injection might be difficult to happen since there is no syringe access in jail for inmates (for obvious reasons). I would also like to know if the medicine you will suggest to me is possible to be found a jail's pharmacy, or would I have an "outside friend" provide these for my hero in jail. Few days later, after the contents were clear of lungs, (had xrays, stress test-due to shortness of breath prior to hospitalization, barium swallow test, full GI-every thing was clear), again back to the Rehabilitation Hospital for swallowing therapy-was doing well for past two weeks, until night before last while sleeping, he aspirated again, sending him back to the ER. He went for more tests, as they again are clearing out the gastric contents in his lungs.
