This is a hospital that does not have a stroke center and no real specialty stroke treatment/rehab. Rehab people are now very pessimistic regarding his recovery, but he had been making progress before. We are concerned that they let him get dehydrated in the Rehab center and this has also caused some kidney issues as of today.
Has anyone had any experience with this type situation? Did clots resolve on their own?
Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
The facilities he has been in specialize in brain injuries and he receives 6-8 hours of therapy each day - physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, neurocognitive therapy, and speech therapy as well as sessions with neuropyschiatrists and psychologists. It's working. And I see miracles being worked at that facility every day.
She finally admitted that she was hooked and needed help. We got her into a rehab center to hopefully get off them, so we can save our marriage. It is just as hard on me with her not being here becasue she is my best friend and we had our routine of drinking coffee and talking about anything that we want, and it was so depressing to wake up and not see my best friend laying next to me. The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
I did further research on the anti-seizure meds and complained to a different doctor on duty at the rehab center. He disagreed with the use of the med as well and took her off of it. As far as I'm concerned the other doc is fired. I hear from my family members that mom is doing much better and is much more responsive and even laughing. HOWEVER, every time I see mom she is fast asleep or unresponsive. Once she opened her eyes, looked at me and turned her back to me.
How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
My 49 year old brother had a massive left hemisphere stroke last August, leaving him paralyzed on the right side and he has made great progress with various modes of walking therapy. He now walks without any aids, albeit slowly and with difficulty. He does walk on a treadmill as part of his therapy and studies are showing that it's excellent for improving the gait to a more normal pattern.
It was so bad that I had to cut the therapy short a week. The only good thing about the inpatient rehab center was that it did give my husband a good start on his recovery. I think that's all it was for...to continue care until he can get stronger to do out patient therapy.
After my husband was out of the inpatient rehab center he was sent to a HealthSouth Out Patient center. They were wonderful.

My mother is 78. I was told that the plan is for her to be moved to a residence and to have an aide. She never lost consciousness. I have not seen her, as she no longer wishes to see me. This apartment where I lived with her is being sold. The rehab facility is close by, but she gets upset if I visit and they won't allow me to come. I may never see her again.
Her friend said you are never the same after this. Her progress in rehab therapy has been slow.
It sounds like you are putting a lot pressure on yourself to get your son to continue his therapy after he gets out of rehab. I completely understand how you feel, but this is a decision that your son will have to make. I truly hope that he will change his mind and continue his therapy. Have you asked him why he no longer wants to continue therapy? Is there a reason why he is so anxious? I can understand that he would have some anxiety, but it sounds like his anxiety is severe.
He seemed overly excited and liked the attention he got from the aide when the aide would have to pick him up and carry him around. I am thinking about trying again with a different aide, maybe someone who's on-call for the sole purpose of hunting him down and returning him to class. I will look into behaviorists - his aide after school does some behavioral therapy with him but not enough. Fish oil is a good idea.
Acute care for rehab centers normally require a minimum of three hours rehab 5-6 days a week. When my dad was tested, he did not consistently respond to commands. I am positive that he could hear, and he responded some days much better than other days.
Keep telling your father that you are working on getting him to a higher level of care. Explain to him on a daily basis that you have to keep working on small steps of progress starting with consistent actions.
