Avatar m tn Aquatic Physical Therapy and manual joint mobilizations by a manually trained Physical Therapist have great research backing them for treatment for hip arthritis. Often rehab centers have pools that are accessible for W/C bound patients.
Avatar f tn The best thing for you to do is look up REHAB centers in your area or as much of an area that you can afford to drive. It's imperative that you visit more than one. Use all your resources...internet, friends, references, staff and other informative resources that can help you decide. Nursing homes really just take care of the patient with little or no rehab. Do you have a HealthSouth in your area? In bigger cities HealthSouth has a good name.
82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
Avatar f tn I had started physical therapy with a company I will not name. I have a couple bulging discs and one of them has a small piece of bone chipped off my spine and it is sitting on my S1 Nerve root. I also have degenerative disc disease and degenerative joint disease all in my L3-S1 Area. I recently went to a new PT rehab center and I told them my legs were both pinching and my but and hips had pinching and my back was having muscle spasms. They told me to work through the pain.
Avatar f tn You bring up a good point. Physical Therapy is a cornerstone of MS treatment, but it is intended to be a now and again thing. Most people reach their benefit and stop formal therapy with periodic reassessments. I'm concerned that your PT is as punishing as it is. She seems a bit undereducated on the fine line between slowly building strength and the possibility of actually doing damage to muscles with damaged motor nerves.
Avatar f tn He gave me a prescription for physical therapy and said that they have a great prenatal therapy with a whirlpool. Has anyone ever done therapy for pain during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I went to physical therapy today for the first timeand I feel so much better! Did anyone else have to do physical therapy or are planning on starting? They have me a list of exercises to do at home and they work wonders.
333672 tn?1273792789 I had an evaluation for physical therapy on Monday and my first session today. I am having increasing trouble with walking and, although I don't know if this is going to help, I think it's worth a shot. So far I have found out a number of interesting things. My flexibility is okay for my age (although it seems worse to me than it used to be), but I have weakness in my hip flexors and in my ankle muscles.
4268628 tn?1375041176 Anyone go through physical therapy to help with joint pains and to help your body adjust to your uterus expanding? Just kinda curious of what to expect. I go in for my first appt on tuesday.

1903798 tn?1333905288 So today was my first day of physical therapy. I was relieved that she actually knew about chiari and EDS. I had a little fun when she wanted to check range of motion...I giggled...she asked what was funny and I said remember I have EDS. After my evaluation she decided there was no way anyone should be doing manipulations to my body. I was glad. She said ok stretch and strengthening it is for you. She also said she would not be pushing down on my head due to my PFD.

Avatar m tn sub has been pretty good for me but i could certainly see where it could be a big problem for some people they really should try to keep in rehab or detox centers the shorter your on it the better from what i have the withdrawal is very bad and long lasting i do understand some may need long term with sub but it seems that some people are trading a light addiction and then getting hooked on sub and it is very potent it seems we are trading less for more
Avatar n tn what is the average length of rehab therapy after total knee replacement? This discussion is related to On-going Pain after Knee replacement surgery.
Avatar m tn Also, one day we decided to go back to the hospital to see what their physical therapy was like, so I called the Physical Therapy line directly (not through the main line - don't ever do that they have no idea what the hell they are talking about) and went in for a tour. Unlike the stupid answers the main line gave us, the Physical Therapists set the story straight. The hospital main line gave us this ******** talk like: "Oh you have to apply for a clinic card...
Avatar f tn Physical therapy (physiotherapy in many English speaking countries) is a health care profession which provides services to individuals and populations to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life. This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.
Avatar n tn The facilities he has been in specialize in brain injuries and he receives 6-8 hours of therapy each day - physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, neurocognitive therapy, and speech therapy as well as sessions with neuropyschiatrists and psychologists. It's working. And I see miracles being worked at that facility every day.
Avatar f tn Not all rehab centers are equal. Many if not most try to do it too quickly with a one size fits all approach, whereas an individual psychiatrist who really knows his stuff will go at your pace. Not that those are easy to find! By the way, you need a new psychiatrist. The one you have doesn't seem to realize he works for you.
