Red itchy palms during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Red itchy palms during pregnancy

Avatar m tn Hello, It is common to find some itchy rashes in pregnancy but they are specific for pregnancy like pruritic urticarial plaques of pregnancy( PUPP). If you have generalized itchy skin, it can be due to the thyroid condition also. PUPP is characterized by small red bumps and hives, and when severe, the bumps form large patches. This rash usually develops on the abdomen, and spreads to the thighs, buttocks, breasts and arms. Slight itching from PUPPP may cause mild discomfort.
Avatar f tn s it normal to feel itchy during pregnancy? It's not uncommon to feel itchy, particularly around your growing belly and breasts as your skin stretches to accommodate them. Hormonal changes may also be partly to blame. Some pregnant women find that their palms and the soles of their feet get red and sometimes itchy. This condition may be caused by an increase in estrogen. It usually disappears right after delivery.
Avatar f tn I go that same horrible itchy feeling at one point during my pregnancy. Dos and everyone else said stretch marks, BS! I had an allergic reaction to something. At first I thought it was prenatal vitamins, but it wasn't. I was miserable and had to take lukewarm showers. Sucked. thank god it only lasted 2 days. But I was so afraid it would come back that I was scared for weeks. But it didn't so that's why I think it was a hormonal change or some allergic reaction.
800427 tn?1324949319 ive read about the soles of your feet and the palms of your hands becoming splotchy red and itchy while pregnant but mine are strictly the tops. I dont have a rash of hives or anything...the only bumps and cuts on them are from me scratching so much. I initially thought it must be from my feet and hands swelling due to all my water retention...but ive been having issues with the water retention for quite sometime and this itchiness just appeared out of nowhere...
Avatar f tn Usually after childbirth, it spreads to the entire body, but within three weeks or so, it disappears Papular Dermatitis of Pregnancy characteristic features are extremely itchy, raised spots, which are red in color and get covered by crust. The spots are never found in groups.
Avatar f tn OK, I'm 36, and I've had the same itchy leg problem since I was in elementary school. It only comes up when I walk or jog in COOL weather, not in the heat of Summer. It happened again this morning and I hate it! It can definitely drive someone completely insane! I'm not sold on the 'rise in body temperature' theory b/c I'm able to exercise when it's hot - and we also have a hot tub that has never given me a problem... I'm so tired of not knowing why!
Avatar f tn Mine is always on my right arm, it gets warm and red when it itches and the hairs stand up like static during these episodes. If there is no cure I don't even want to go to lots of doctors to try and figue it out. It is frustrating.
339229 tn?1243048894 For something that is so natural, why won't my body work? I have not had one contraction during my pregnancy either. I have felt some cramping, but nothing else. It really worries me when people look at me and are suprised when I tell them my baby hasn't dropped yet. I'm due in 3 days! To which I probably won't have her until September now since I'll probably need to have a c-section! It's so frustrating! On top of that, this week my stomach began to itch uncontrolably.
1433383 tn?1287668880 Im just wondering if anyone has any experience with cholestasis of pregnancy. It's not a common disorder, but I just took a blood test for it and I've heard it takes about a week to get a result. If anyone hasn't heard of it, it is a liver disorder, apparently sometimes during pregnancy your liver will create too much bile, the bile salts will rise to the skin and cause severe itching.
Avatar n tn I've been getting the yeast infections and vulva tears for about 6 years now. Then the past 3 years itchy hands(palms&fingers)itchy bottom of feet, and underams. I tried alot of things-creams and gyno's couldnt diagnose me. The beginning of this year I started taking beta glucan and it seems to be working-as long as I keep taking it.If I stop-my itching returns and so do my vulvar lesions(after sex).
Avatar n tn I also have a problem with my one toe, every winter it gets very red on top of my second toe, and extremely itchy, it sometimes turns a deep red or even purple. My feet and fingers get extremely cold very fast. They get so cold in the winter that they sometimes get numb after only being outside for 10 or 15 mins. I will have to use a heating pad on them to warm them up. The red bumps on my fingers are exactly what everyone explains here, and seems to only come in the winter.
Avatar n tn I am always at work and it is in the mid morning. Intensely red and itching palms and feet. I just started wearing Invisalign braces 2 months ago. I hope it is not a reaction to the plastic.
Avatar n tn my fingers and thumbs become red and very warm. whats odd is that my palms remain unaffected during an attack. cool water and elevation seem to be about the only things that help alleviate the symptoms once they have started. no medications have helped. this happens with my toes and heels also. ...its quite the bummer.

Avatar n tn I went to the health store to see it they had any sea salt and the lady told me that CELTIC SEA SALT was the best. Her eye, which had been red, swollen and sore and insanely itchy for 3 months cleared up within 3 days. It cures every-bloody-thing from eczema to gingivitis. As a mouth wash use half a teaspoon in some lukewarm water, rince around and spit. This stuff is jam pack with minerals essential to the body. You can use it every day in place of regular salt and it's good for you.
Avatar n tn my experience with birth control should have let me know pregnancy would be hell. Anyhow, made it through that and after suffering from migraines (diagnosed during pregnancy as complex migraines and was informed I should have never and should never again be on any kind of hormonal birth control) since the age of 8, they stopped after the births of each child.
Avatar n tn So, it is also possible you could be receiving a positive result due to the Ovidrel shot, not due to pregnancy. Wishing you the best of luck.......I am rooting for you!!!
Avatar n tn When I woke up the next day it was everywhere. Even some on my face. It is incredibly itchy. The areas that are the most red (the bottom of my legs and my upper arms) are hot and swollen. I have taken antihistamines which help a little with the itching but the rash is not going away. Could this be an allergic reaction to something new I ate? Or could this be a harmful pregnancy rash?
116879 tn?1266519849 I am 5 months postpartum and all of a sudden developed an itchy red rash all over my thighs which is spreading. I am putting a topical steriod (advise of doc) but it is not helping. I have no idea what it could be since I have not changed my diet, soap, lotion, etc. The rash looks almost like rubella type lesions, but I had been vaccinated years ago, so it most likely isn't that. I was not seen by a dermatolgist, just was given this creme at the advise of a doc in our family.
Avatar n tn This could be related to hormonal changes associated with the pregnancy and postpartum period. 'The varied collection of skin peculiarities that crop up during pregnancy, including rashes, redness, acne, discolorations, and other eruptions.' Avatar f tn PUPPP is the most common, however it is seen more on stretch marks and during the third trimester. If you have gained a lot of weight during your pregnancy then this is a possibility. Treatment is by high strength steroid creams and lotions. The other thing is to go for an allergy test to know what is causing this. It is also possible that you developed some kind of eczema post delivery. Please consult a skin specialist regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
131073 tn?1252454452 My wife also had the PUPPS rash but after giving birth and now 3 years later she experiences a rash that flares up mainly during her menstrual cycle and during times of stress. The bumps are red, appear mainly around her panty line and some around her bra. When itchy bumps subside they leave a dark spot almost like a scar right where the red bump was. The doctors have not offered any conclusive solution or explanation.
363110 tn?1340924019 My back and stomach (stomach mostly), along with my sides developed skin-colored and red itchy bumps. I went to see a dermatologist and he didn't this it was Scabies, but treated me for it anyways. The permetherin, along with other steroid cream, helped the itching. I still have some bumps on my stomach and back but the itchy got a lot better. A few days later the rash started on my thighs, and arms. The bumps would appear randomly and disappear in a day or two.
97615 tn?1212682189 I asked my obgyn yesterday while i was in her office and she said that since my immune system is low during pregnancy that my body's ability to produce its own antihistamine is low as well. It doesnt solve my problem but at least there is kind of an explanation. Do you think it could still be relative to my liver???
Avatar n tn I wondered if I was pregnant because the last time I had itching palms was during pregnancy. But no, I am not pregnant. The itching palms lasted two weeks, then I had a few days of relief and thought it had passed. But then, the hives began. I have gotten hives - on different parts of my body - since then (I think they started around September 30, and now it's October 23.) Sometimes my forearms flare up, sometimes they stretch across my abdomen, sometimes they are on my legs.
Avatar n tn Even I have same problem. During afternoon my hands become red and i go on rubbing the palms. please help, i am feeling so sick of it.
