335728 tn?1331414412 Martin, MDApril 15, 2010 (Toronto) -- Nearly 71% of people with early relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) treated with the experimental MS drug alemtuzumab showed no evidence of disease activity four years into a study, researchers report. That's twice the percentage of patients treated with the approved treatment, Rebif, says researcher Alasdair Coles, PhD, of the University of Cambridge.

Avatar n tn You may be experiencing numbness in the tongue, a common symptom of multiple sclerosis per se. Review with your neurologist if your disease spectrum has changed and for these newer symptoms. He might like to add some muscle relaxant like tizanidine, baclofen or carbamazepine. You are welcome with any further clarifications. God bless.
Avatar n tn I have had RR multiple sclerosis since I was 10 ish diagnosed (finally) in 2008. Had routine MRi of head and neck last month, everything is stable for 2 years now. Thank you Tysabri! My question is the impression of my mri stated T1 and T2 disease burden is at least moderate ( written for head and cervical MRI). Also JCV negative this whole time can I stay on Tysabri indefintely as long as I am negative?
Avatar n tn 52 year old woman with a severe case of Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (SPMS). She is around an 8 on the Expanded Disability Status Scale and has been on multiple interferon-beta1a treatments, including Rebif and Avonex and nothing seems to be helping. What course of treatment would you recommend?

And also, many of us have vitamin deficiencies, allergies, and all the general run of ailments that other people do. I'm just grateful for excellent prescription insurance.
572651 tn?1530999357 The Comparison of Alemtuzumab and Rebif® Efficacy in Multiple Sclerosis (CARE-MSSM) I and II studies are designed to determine the safety and effectiveness of the investigational drug alemtuzumab as compared to the FDA-approved therapy Rebif (interferon beta-1a), in adults with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The studies will look for differences between these drugs on the progression of disability and in the number of relapses (flare-ups) and brain lesions caused by MS.
Avatar f tn I just ran a search for "multiple sclerosis night sweats", and I found an article that states that 16-36% of people with ms experience moderate to severe night sweats. The article broke it down better than I just did. All this time I thought it was hormonal, lol! (Who knows, maybe it's both in my case...
Avatar f tn ) Pharmacokinetics The pharmacokinetics of Rebif® (interferon beta-1a) in people with multiple sclerosis have not been evaluated. In healthy volunteer subjects, a single subcutaneous (sc) injection of 60 mcg of Rebif® (liquid formulation) resulted in a peak serum concentration (Cmax) of 5.1 ± 1.7 IU/mL (mean ± SD), with a median time of peak serum concentration (Tmax) of 16 hours.
Avatar f tn nt start appearing until 4 yrs. later so I can tell you from personal experience that Multiple Sclerosis no matter what type does NOT always fit what your one neurologist called the "classic picture" of relasping/remitting MS! Multiple Sclerosis depending on what type & the individual person can have a plethora of symptoms & each symptom can be drastically different from one sufferer to the next.
4313204 tn?1353971047 Interferon Drugs for Multiple Sclerosis (Avonex, Betaseron, Rebif)Interferon beta drugs help control the immune system, which helps control MS. Glatiramer Glatiramer helps prevent the body's immune system from attacking nerve fibers. Novantrone Novantrone slows disability and reduces the relapse rate. Tysabri Therapy Tysabri reduces the relapse rate, but is somewhat controversial. Aubagio Aubagio reduces the number of flares in adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.
648910 tn?1290663083 I probably should have also mentioned that MSAA (Multiple Sclerosis Association of American) has an equipment distribution program and a cooling equipment distribution program. I would recommend anyone with MS or waiting on a dx go to the site and join. After joining they sent me an introductory packet with a lot of info.

333672 tn?1273792789 Just wondering if anyone is going to this MS in Balance seminar on "Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis and Its Management" in Carmel (suburb of Indianapolis). It's the evening of Thursday, Dec. 4 and apparently is sponsored by the Rebif people. http://www.mslifelines.com/programs/local-seminars/view/1525.jsp Has anyone ever been to one of these things? Are they likely to be worthwhile?
382218 tn?1341181487 The recommended dose of Rebif® for relapsing-remitting forms of multiple sclerosis is 6 IU (22 µg) injected under the skin three times per week. People with a higher degree of disability may need doses of 12 IU (44 µg) injected under the skin three times per week." "People with a higher degree of disability"....? I did not know this was me! Sure, I've had double vision for the past 5 months (which is slowly improving); but otherwise am doing pretty well.
Avatar f tn Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Drugs | Avonex | Betaseron | Betaferon | Copaxone | Rebif | I happened to see this the other day, it was listed on http://www.themcfox.com/multiple-sclerosis/ms-drugs/avonex/avonex-blood-counts.htm updated 2004, it might be worth finding out if your having a negative reaction and need to change DMD.
