It was discovered that my bladder had been pierced and i had to have a SPC. Upon returning to the UK i have since have 2 separate procedures (urethral dilation) neither of which have worked. At the beginning of August i had a complex urethroplasty all the time the SPC has been in place. Once the urethral catheter was removed roughly 2 weeks ago i've found that my bladder is not emptying fully. I'm still having to use the SPC to fully void.
My husband has this problem everytime the SPC needs changing, tried regular 4 week changes and still stuck. Now has GA every 12 weeks to change the catheter along with botox and prostate massage. Around the 10 week mark he too finds it so painful to touch the tubing etc. Has had SPC two years. Next change Monday and urologist cannot explain why it sticks so badly.
He does take prevacid and ursodiol for GERD, and is on TOBI, Cipro (for pseudamonas) and the usual Pulmozyme, enzymes, etc, etc, etc.
How are these related? How can we prevent pleurisy? Will it reappear later as we fight CF? Will having had it affect his long term prognosis?
Turns out, surgeon didn't leave adequate instructions regarding plugging the spc in the post-op timeframe. I found this out via a conversation with the surgeon's RN a few days ago. I apologize for any confusion. I was simply confused.
s when necessary. Nebulized mucolytics (meds that break down mucous) such as Pulmozyme and mucomyst are helpful. Chest physiotherapy is also important to help loosen the mucous in the lungs as well.
Asthma is separate, it is bronchoconstriction, with inflammation that is reversible with medication that opens up airways such as albuterol.
I also neb mucolytics, meds that break down the mucous so that I can pass it easier. I take pulmozyme for this, but also take hypertonic saline (also nebbed) and in the distant past, Mucomyst.

I cant live with a tube in my penis for the rest of my life , that I have to get changed monthly and the pain is HELL so I am left with no choice but get the SPC ( supra pubic catheter ) and that is an open wound in the belly that has to be kept clean and dry with a catheter directly threw the belly into the bladder and ugly as hell and extremely nasty. I was already getting my *** kicked from lupus and now I have this added to my hellish life.

It is pretty effective I believe. What nebs does your doc have you on? I am on pulmozyme (breaks down the DNA of the mucous, thinning it), hypertonic saline...also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....
One is Hypertonic saline (HTS) 3%- docs also prescribe 7% as well sometimes. I also nebulized pulmozyme which breaks down the DNA of the mucous so that it is thinned even more. For my pseudomonas (did the docs ever culture your sputum? If not, have them do that so that you know what is growing in there. If it is pseudo, then there are meds that can be given to help decrease the colonies), I nebulize tobramycin on a 28 day on/28 day off schedule.

Regarding Aspirin,This will thinner the blood .But the that DR. did not checked my blood test so how there was a assumption made by her which i am not sure. is there any relation with blood flow and irregular MC ?
Second Dr. told me that ,She want go as a Natural delivery as much as possible.

I am on mucolytics as well to break up the mucous...specifically pulmozyme which actually breaks down the DNA of mucous and thins it out. Another one that is commonly used is Mucomyst. I use other nebulizers to help open up my airways such as Xopenex. The coughing might be irritation, I know that I get into some pretty awful coughing fits at times. My airways begin to constrict and I just cough more so the nebulizers work, maybe they will help you.
aeruginosa infection in my lungs, Pulmozyme which breaks down the DNA of my thick mucous, Xopenex to open up my airways, pancreatic enzymes to help replace those that my pancreas cannot secrete to aid in digestion, etc...

I was given a plastic "plug" at the pharmacy for my spc tube. I just disconnect my bedside bag hose from my catheter, and insert the plug.
I remember a time when I was out of town and I went to an ER just to see if they had one, and they did. You should be able to ask your catheter supplier for one.
