Avatar f tn "Genentech withdrew its psoriasis drug Raptiva from the market yesterday, citing the risk of developing progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare, often fatal brain infection. The drug will be phased out by June 8 of this year, according to a statement by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)." http://www.the-scientist.com/templates/trackable/display/blog.jsp?
1118724 tn?1357010591 Late yesterday afternoon, around 17:30, received a call from a Genentech rep saying the alcohol pads that come in the interferon kit maybe contaminated with a bacteria. I didn't write down the name of the bacteria sooo.. the maker of the pads is Triad. They also make pads under different names, like Topco .. Did anyone else get a similar notice?
1831849 tn?1383228392 Laura, aka Lulu54 mentioned that there may be copay assistance programs available. I went to the Genentech website and found a wealth of information about assisatance for payments associated with many conditions. None of these were MS. I have a call in to them. but sustpecty that since Rituxan for MS is off label there is no program at Genentech. Does anyone know of any fiancial assistance programs for Rituxan?
Avatar f tn He does take prevacid and ursodiol for GERD, and is on TOBI, Cipro (for pseudamonas) and the usual Pulmozyme, enzymes, etc, etc, etc. How are these related? How can we prevent pleurisy? Will it reappear later as we fight CF? Will having had it affect his long term prognosis?

Avatar n tn s when necessary. Nebulized mucolytics (meds that break down mucous) such as Pulmozyme and mucomyst are helpful. Chest physiotherapy is also important to help loosen the mucous in the lungs as well. Asthma is separate, it is bronchoconstriction, with inflammation that is reversible with medication that opens up airways such as albuterol.
435139 tn?1255460391 I also take guiafenisen (mucinex tabs) to help with my mucous. I am also on pulmozyme (DNAse which breaks down the DNA of the mucous and thins it) but that is prescribed for Cystics.
Avatar n tn and because of my income they helped me apply to Pegassist through Genentech. I get all my meds at no charge but I am responsible for the cost of all lab work through the 11 months and dr. office calls. If you are considering not doing tx because of the cost trust me, the cost of NOT doing treatment is to high. Talk with your dr, nurse, local agencies about treatment. Hope this helped.
Avatar n tn I also neb mucolytics, meds that break down the mucous so that I can pass it easier. I take pulmozyme for this, but also take hypertonic saline (also nebbed) and in the distant past, Mucomyst.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately Genentech (Roche) will not be covering the meds for anyone with any insurance at all. Here is a copy of their new program: The Genentech Access to Care Foundation eligibility criteria for free Pegasys are: Insurance: The patient must be uninsured or rendered uninsured by payer denial. GATCF does not provide free medicine to patients who have insurance coverage, regardless of the co-pay amount.
Avatar n tn Hi, Usually Herceptin is administered every 3 weeks for a period of one year, but.treatments vary according to the stage the cancer is discovered, as well as location and overall health of the patient.Your Oncologist would be able to answer your question since he/she would have all information and test results relevant to your specific situation. The cost of this medication is very steep, but I hope your insurance will cover it or at least cover part of it.
Avatar f tn This could be a third party partner that collects data for Genentech for their use. You can call Genentech directly at (800) 821-8590 to see if this is routine for them.
415684 tn?1257329318 As to the second article. A bit of caution might be in order. On the first drug, Avastan, Genentech made 200 million dollars in profit, according to the article (you have to do the math yourself). Seems like a lot to me for one drug out of many. The author also talks about the money drug companies spent on explaining drugs to doctors. These are sales calls pure and simple.
Avatar f tn Yes, definitely contact Genentech. They have a phone number at (***-***-****/***-***-**** to help patients with questions about affording their medications. They also have a website at http://www.****.*** Good luck with getting the medication. It is a crying shame that even when good medications are available ti can sometimes be hard to obtain them.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor about the drugs Pegasys (Genentech pharmaceuticals) and Pegintron (Merck Pharmaceuticals). Both are pegylated interferon drugs. Sorry to hear of your troubles; this disease can be costly and problematic for many.
Avatar f tn I just got $500.00 to help me with my copays for pegasys & ribavirin from the HealthWell foundation.Contact them or the Genentech Access Solutions.I've only got 2 1/2 months left.
Avatar f tn It is pretty effective I believe. What nebs does your doc have you on? I am on pulmozyme (breaks down the DNA of the mucous, thinning it), hypertonic saline...also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....
Avatar n tn If you have a doctor you can try the Pegassist program through Genentech. I've just started treatment 3 weeks ago, and they cover my meds for free.. Good luck to you my friend and welcome to our forum!!
Avatar n tn Ascites is not the end stage of Ovarian Cancer. It just show that the present therapy is not working. Avastin has been known to stop ascites. It is a pity that her insurance won't cover it, Try calling Genentech through it's social services department and ask the use of Avastin for humanitarian purpose. See also the possibility of switching insurance to Kaiser. Kaiiser allows the use of Avastin for Ovarian cancer as off label, I hope this helps.
