He does take prevacid and ursodiol for GERD, and is on TOBI, Cipro (for pseudamonas) and the usual Pulmozyme, enzymes, etc, etc, etc.
How are these related? How can we prevent pleurisy? Will it reappear later as we fight CF? Will having had it affect his long term prognosis?
s when necessary. Nebulized mucolytics (meds that break down mucous) such as Pulmozyme and mucomyst are helpful. Chest physiotherapy is also important to help loosen the mucous in the lungs as well.
Asthma is separate, it is bronchoconstriction, with inflammation that is reversible with medication that opens up airways such as albuterol.
I also neb mucolytics, meds that break down the mucous so that I can pass it easier. I take pulmozyme for this, but also take hypertonic saline (also nebbed) and in the distant past, Mucomyst.

Hi folks, found a couple of neat articles on what tests are used in Canada so this should put it to rest a little bit. Both of tehse articles are from this year and last and state the thrid generation average window period is 4-6 weeks. They still reccomend coming back at 6 months at my clinic bt Canada is a very beruacratic cya country and will never change this.

t love werid al. I find it so funny that some people from the u.s, just a few, lol, think of Canada totally different than what it is. They think we all hunt, wear snowshoes and eat moose meat, lmfao. Now if you go 1500 miles north where the population is 500 than yes it's a little different. It is pretty effective I believe. What nebs does your doc have you on? I am on pulmozyme (breaks down the DNA of the mucous, thinning it), hypertonic saline...also breaks it down, TOBI for my pseudomonas (if you culture pseudo, this might be a good drug for you, it is a nebulized form of tobramycin, I rotate 28 days on and 28 days off..it does a fairly good job at keeping my pseudo at bay) as well as pulmicort and Xopenex. Lots of nebs....
One is Hypertonic saline (HTS) 3%- docs also prescribe 7% as well sometimes. I also nebulized pulmozyme which breaks down the DNA of the mucous so that it is thinned even more. For my pseudomonas (did the docs ever culture your sputum? If not, have them do that so that you know what is growing in there. If it is pseudo, then there are meds that can be given to help decrease the colonies), I nebulize tobramycin on a 28 day on/28 day off schedule.
Any moms from Ontario Canada? I am wondering if there are laws that prohibit room sharing between siblings of opposite sexes? CAS has no definitive answer. But suggests once oldest is 6 or 7 splitting them. I will try to research it more just wondered if anyone knew. I will have a 3 year old girl and a newborn boy who will need to share a room once i am ready for baby boy to leave his bassinet in our room.
I'm just curious if there is anyone from Canada that has been accepted for Triple Therapy Treatment? I'm in British Columbia and I have to meet the treatment critieria before the Canadian government will fund treatment for me. So, the one thing holding me back is that I have to meet the enzyme criteria of having to have 3 lab tests of enzymes that are 1.5 times higher than normal. The problem is that most of my enzymes are in the normal range.
