He also reccommended that I keep taking my celexa 50mg once a day and to increase my xanax to 3 a day. I really don't knwo much about this disorder because I thought all my symptoms were leading to bi-polar. My doctor refuses to treat me for that and believes he is right about the diganosis. Any Opinions???

Avatar f tn They can be primary psychiatric diagnoses, such as schizophrenia, or they may be associated with another neurological disorder such as a movement disorder like that seen in Huntington’s disease. Furthermore, psychotic episodes may be an acute change like that seen in delirium, stroke, or seizure. Depending on the complete history, including family history, associated symptoms, and clinical examination, imaging findings will likely be in different anatomical locations.

It's supposed to mean ;never down, aways up...instead of "Bi-Polar"; severe up and down or high and low moods. I'd really like to know if this is a real diagnosis of a disorder or a doctor is not telling me the whole story. I do have a geat way of not letting things get me down.

1965148 tn?1354978634 I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.

Avatar n tn Regardless if a person has thoughts or ideas that show a strong departure from reality or reality testing that is generally considered psychotic. Mania and depression are easier to explain. If a person only has psychotic thoughts during moodswings that is generally classified as bipolar with psychotic features. That is of course treatable. See a psychiatrist you trust more and ask them why they see what they are diagnosing in you and how it can be treated.

Avatar f tn I suffer from sever GAD, I fear taking any sort of medications no matter how sever my medical condition is. I freak out from general anasethia. I fear of staying alone unaccompanied by any person. I fear driving not because I fear of loosing control over the car, but because I have this feeling that I will NEVER reach my final destination. I feel that this is the wrong road despite I used this road 1000 of times. I fear of flying.

The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...

710547 tn?1295446030 Hi, I have a neurologist now, who is great, but recently, I thought I had a dvt in the right leg, but a doppler ruled it out. The pain and stiffness which caused some edema, was dx as spasticity. I was also told my MS is now secondary progressive. I've had foot drop and reduced sensation in that leg for a while, but not this tight Achilles tendon and calf. Walking has become much more difficult, which is causing more back spasms.

I have Hashimoto's which can cause all kinds of mental problems and was wondering if maybe there is some physical reason for this. His aunt (father's sis) died of a brain tumor 4 years ago, but he says he doesn't have head aches. His mother was adopted so there is no medical history past hers.
Avatar f tn ve also been dx with RLS which is a sensorimotor neurologically based disorder less commonly known as Willis-Ekbom Disease, it can be both a primary or a secondary issue due to a known medical condition, medical side effects etc etc. Weird sensory feelings and spasms are common elements of RLS with somewhere around 75-80% also experiencing periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD).
