Common Questions and Answers about Prozac side effects headaches

Avatar n tn what is glutathione?
2010625 tn?1329375656 I have taken Prozac for about two years. The main side effects I've noticed were initial insomnia and some facial swelling. Anytime I've gone down I have had some weird dreams. I just recently went up in meds and my face is puffy so that's annoying. Other than that Prozac has been a great drug for me.
Avatar n tn drowsiness, dizziness, weakness; runny nose, sore throat, headache, flu symptoms; nausea, diarrhea, changes in appetite; weight changes; decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or dry mouth, increased sweating. You can read more about this through this link: Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn If you did an appropriate taper the side-effects shouldn't be too bad. Prozac has a much longer half-life than other meds so it may take a little longer. I think what's happening is that your brain is converting stress and anxiety into hunger. Deal with the underlying issues and the hunger should resolve itself. If you want expert advice try the mh or emotional eating expert forums. The doctor is very knowledgeable about depression and emotional eating.
Avatar n tn I had bad side effects from all the SSRI's I tried and prozac was one of them. It's hard to tell if you are experiencing side effects too or just the symptoms of anxiety/depression. These effects may very well subside with time on the medicine. The most important thing to do now is CALL YOUR DOCTOR and let him, with your help, make the call over what to do. Goood luck..let us know how you make out.
Avatar n tn Why not just stay on them and not suffer from withdrawals and possibly have your terrible effects of depression return? Are the side effects of being on these antidepressants that bad? His doctor lowered his doasage without telling him; he didn't know until he looked at the bottle that he picked up from the pharmacy... Clearly I'm no doc but the general idea of going off seems bad enough let alone going ahead and lowering his dosage without telling him... I suggested he switch doctors... .
Avatar n tn for the last two weeks he has been having headaches and bodyaches so bad he can hardly move. is this from prozac and are there any known longterm effects of this drug?
Avatar n tn So I stopped taking Prozac 5 weeks ago without tapering. The side effects are there, dizziness, electrical feeling impulses in my brain, irritability, etc. But, it is not something that I can't handle, so far. I am determined to control my emotions and myself through natural methods and with God's guidance. My questions are the following: 1. Will these withdrawl symptoms ever go away? They did after I quit the effexor.
Avatar f tn Common side effects include an increase in anxiety (feeling very jittery), sleep disturbances (either feeling drowsy, or insomnia), some GI symptoms which could include some nausea, diarrhea, lack of appetite, or increase in appetite. Also, headaches are commonly reported. The good news is, these side effects are short lived, with most people seeing improvements at about week 2. Also, not everyone will have side effects, it's something that greatly varies from person to person.
Avatar f tn You may have some start up side effects at first like a little nausea and headaches but those side effects usually go away in a few days. Most DRs want to give these meds about 6 weeks to see if they're helping. You can feel much better before then though. If you would happen to have any bothersome side effects there are several other different meds to try.
20632981 tn?1503691167 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
Avatar f tn My question is whether anyone else has experienced bad headaches (or other unpleasant side-effects) from the combo of Prozac and a very moderate amount of drinking?
Avatar n tn Zyban is exactly the same as Wellbutrin but is used for smoke cessation. Wellbutrin is more likely than Zoloft to cause headaches as a side effect. It may take 3 weeks for the headaches to subside once the Wellbutrin or Zoloft are stopped. Since you are tolerating Paxil well you want to continue with it. Other antidepressants are Celexa and Serzone. I recommend you discuss your concerns with your psychiatrist. Best Wishes, HFHS M.D.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago I was treated for chronical HBV with Interferon (IntronA) during 6 months. Of course, during those 6 months I suffered from several side-effects like headaches, fever, hair loss.. Eating was horrible because all the food tasted salty. The strange thing is that my doctor didn't say anything about the possible side-effects. When I asked him if the hair loss was due to the interferon he just said "uhm.. yeah, that is possible".
462771 tn?1358359443 I DID have the flu like side effects for 3-4 days after the shot. Unfortunately, the side effects did not wane, so after 3 years I gave up on it. It was an excellent drug at preventing any progression of my MS and no more additional lesions on MRI. I am now on Copaxone, which was chosen due to no flu-like side effects. Taking a daily shot is really no big deal. I have been on it for a year.
422425 tn?1307996590 When I awoke it will take me awhile to determine if I had dreamed an event or if it really happened. This same med gave me horrid headaches some days but the side effects gradually subsided. I am glad to hear that the Tramadol is therapeutic. I would report your side effects to a health care professional asap. If you feel like you are drowning this sounds like an issue with oxygen supply or process, which may be attributed to the Tramadol. So please make that call this evening.
Avatar n tn I remember have some unpleasant side effects at first, such as feeling panicking, very dizzy and headaches. Can anyone please tell me how I can deal with the side effects to make it a better experience? Also, what is the typical length of the side long should they typically last?
577132 tn?1314270126 As I have about 6 months of journaling to make up in a short amount of time I thought I would chronicle some of the side effects (sx) so far and how I have dealt with them (or not!) In the beginning I had dizziness, like vertigo, dreadful migraine headaches that were focused behind my eyes, red lumpy rash, incessant itching and dry flaming skin. I also had quite a lot of mental confusion and took a bit of a dive emotionally.
Avatar n tn Headaches are one of the main side effects of taking Paxil. I've been taking Paxil for two years now, giving me headaches almost dailey and I've gained about 15-20 lbs also. I'm currently trying to come off of Paxil, the withdrawal is horrible. Hope all works out for you!
581310 tn?1253033150 Any Advice on what I might be able to add to be able to sleep in the evenings. Other then that I am not having any side effects which is good becuase in the past anti depressants would give me really bad headaches.
Avatar f tn Give that dose a few weeks and see how you do on that. Headaches and dizziness are common side effects of Prozac and should abate once your body has adjusted to the medication. Obviously if they persist, you need to let your doctor know. It can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks for Prozac to reach "steady state" in your body which is the point where it begins to help. If your headaches worsen, call your doctor immediately.
Avatar n tn i was on prozac for about 3 months all i got from them were severe side effects all the time and no sleep i have been off them for 2 weeks now but getting bad headaches down the right side of my head into my ear i had a fuzzy head when i was taking the prozac
517130 tn?1223043424 Nervousness, insomnia, ANXIETY, tremor, agitation, headaches............the list of side effects of Prozac is quite extensive. You say you've just started taking them, so you have anywhere from 1-4 weeks for it to reach it's therapeutic level. During that time you should expect to feel like you're still on that emotional roller coaster, but you should also begin to gradually feel a lessening of that turmoil. Your doctor was remiss in not telling you to avoid alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant.
565246 tn?1216471723 Sounds like you're new to treatment, meaning your side effects will only keep getting worse, meaning that in a few short weeks you will look back at today as one of your "good days". So, instead of waiting until then, just consider today a good day now :) Everything is relative when treating. Personally, I didn't have your work problems because I was too messed up from treatment to work.
Avatar f tn Fast heart beats and headaches are common side-effects of amphetamines. Yes it damage your heart and it's upping your pressure. The good new is that the Xanax in someway is reducing those undesirable side effects related to heart and blood pressure. Prozac can still take some time to work in contrary to the Adderall so give it time as it's true that your anxiety level is very high.
Avatar f tn Hopefully you'll find a new doc you like just as well! Splitting the dose of Prozac is more beneficial in terms of lessening side effects, it really shouldn't make much of a difference in its effectiveness whether you take one a day, or split your dose in two. The fact that your Dad notices a difference in you is promising! Many times, others will notice improvement before WE notice it ourselves.
Avatar f tn is it possible for me to just stop or do i need to tapper! if so can u tell me how to tapper to decrease possible upcomming side effects of withdrawl.
Avatar n tn I told him I wanted to lose 55 more pounds. He then switched me from paxil to prozac. He didn't tell me about the side affects of going off the pazil. He just told me to cut the paxil in half and take half a pill for a few days then begin the prozac overlapping a couple of days. Well... it's been 3 wks since that visit. Now I'm experiencing headaches, fatigue, anxieity and am crying constantly and feeling like the future is bleak. From complete control to this???.
