Nuvigil is the NU version of Provigil that Cephalon has developed that will be protected under patent law from generic versions until 2023. They are doing their best to geet Provigil users to switch to Nuvigil over the next few years, protecting their market share and their profits. I'm Canadian as well, and just on spec I phoned an independent pharmacy Still accredited and with a storefront, just not part of a major chain. She said they will fill and ship meds to the US as long as there is a valid prescription associated with the order and the person had to fill out some kind of form to verify their identity. I didn't ask anything about fees, but I am on modafinil (provigil) and just for reference, my last prescription of 100 tabs was $72.06 with a $10.

My doctor wrote me prescriptions for the generic of Provigil and I will be sending it off to an on-line Canadian pharmacy to fill. It is actually affordable, so I'm going to try it.

I even feel the effects of the Provigil the next day (though not nearly as strong). Actually the Provigil fades out about 8 hours after I take it, but I sure do sleep well that night! The next day, I have slightly more energy than usual. I love Provigil, but, due to the chest fullness, can't use it very often so that is why I was considering Adderall (I'm also ADD). In your opinion, how did the Adderall compare to the Provigil in terms of fatigue reduction?

I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.

My psychiatrist just gave me Nuvigil which is an updated version of Provigil for when I come off methadone cold turkey on Tuesday. When most of the physical withdrawals are gone, then I will start taking it to try to get back into life. He won't prescribe it for over a month. He's also an addictionologist. Nuvigil is supposed to have less side effects and literally just came out.

After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).

This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.

I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.

I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.

The side effects look a lot worse than those listed for Provigil. I wonder how long the patent on Provigil lasts, and when there will be a generic form? Does anyone else have trouble getting medications that they need or that are really helpful in improving your quality of life? Ess and I discussed on another thread how both our insurances only allow you to get half a month's worth of Ambien. Are we only supposed to sleep every other day?

My neuro has just prescribed Provigil for me. (I emailed him and he answered within 5 minutes! Gotta hand it to him for that.) Anyway, I had previously had Amantadine, which did zilch, even at 200 mg. I am authorized to take 100 mg of Provigil, and can go to 200 if necessary. From what I recall, many of you take half a pill, so I guess that's 50. Have looked up the drug info online and it said side effects include nausea and anxiety, among other things, including a serious rash..

Hi, Michael~ Hopefully Craig and Elaine will speak up here, but I believe Craig is off the Provigil because of blood pressure issues. Docs believe the blood pressure fluctuations lead to his transitory vision loss. (Hmmmm.) I should also say that Quix has hailed Provigil as the drug which allows her to live her life with much better quality. She has said without it, she would have to be classified as a statue. Yes, she cracks me up, too.

However, someone here pointed out that Nuvigil might just be a way the makers of Provigil have to keep Provigil users paying for Trade name drug a little longer (since Provigil will be going generic soon). However, you might consider just having your doctor order a few pills of Nuvigil to see if it could help you. Also, regarding the Provigil: Make sure its expiration date is a long time off. I have found that can make a difference - that it gets weaker with time.

So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.

My severe pain issues made it necessary for me to get off my feet for a bit during the day, and this was about the time the provigil would wear off. I would take my second dose about 1PM, which would then kick in around 4 or 5PM, and wear off by bed time. This worked for me for a long time, and i avoided the jitters, because I was still getting a good night sleep, and resting my body during the day. I dont know of the meds they use more today, but I thought this might be an alternative.

The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
