provigil

619930 tn?1260374254 Thanks for the replies so far. Trinity: Vertex isn't allowing rescue drugs and my doc doesn't want to reduce yet and I really don't either. He believes in the start, the middle and the finish and doesn't like to reduce unless absolutely necessary. He is willing to try this to help with fatigue and work and hold off on reduction as long as possible. I think I agree and so far I trust his experience and judgement.
Avatar m tn Since then I have started Provigil, I started on 100mg/day and once I got used to it I went to 200mg/day that I took every morning. I now take 200mg in the morning and another 200 mg at noon. It's not a miracle drug by any means but it helps me get through the work day so that I can continue to work which I need to do for income and medical insurance.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the warning, Robin. My neuro prescribed Provigil for me on Friday, and while I was waiting at the pharmacy I was imagining being able to drive long distances again, where I'd go, how I'd get through a whole day without a nap. But it was way too expensive. ($395 / month, not in Kaiser formulary so no insurance help), so I left without it. The pharmacy said they'd send the neuro a message asking if there's a less expensive alternative.
390916 tn?1204840470 Provigil? It would be great if I could be prescribed a sufficient amount! It takes 800mg to have an effect on me that means anything, but the most that can be prescribed is 400mg per day. Essentially that means being awake for 12 working days per month. I don't take it on weekends and just sleep. I read the studies and they went up, safely, to 6000 mg per day. Not sure why they will only allow 2 pills of 200mg each.
233622 tn?1279334905 I tried to take the full dose, but never was able to. It must strengthen the Provigil or something, because I just don't feel right on the full dosage (I've even tried it recently after being on it for 6 months and couldn't do it). However, on the half dose, I love it! I'm more alert and less fatigued. My blood pressure is about the same.
Avatar m tn My question is, will i experience PAWS. If so how long will it take to get over it? Any idea? Thanks for any help you can provide.
1831920 tn?1320857757 One of my major side effects was sleeping most of the day away, which I could not shake for the pastt 2 years. My doctor put me on Provigil about a year or two ago, but I rarely would take it because it made me very hyper and nervous. Now I started taking it regularly (only 1/2 of my 100 mg tablet per day) and am very awake and extremely talkative.
149081 tn?1242397832 That's exactly how I am. I even drink a pot of coffee with my provigil and synthroid. It's still lights out after 5 hours. A 3 - 4 hour nap for me! Not good.
Avatar m tn I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. In the last six months I've been dealing with w lot of troubling events that have taken a toll on me, my emotions, my stress level. In the last month or so I've noticed that I get really bad anxiety/nervousness about ten minutes after taking my provigil. It never used to do that before.
Avatar f tn s onset of action is said to be 3 to 5 hours. I take mine when I get up for the dawn forays to the BR and to the kitty bowls. That way it is helping before noon. It has about a 15 hour duration of action so you never want to take it after noon if you have any trouble sleeping.
Avatar f tn What I want to know is why do I have sheer exhaustion? I am so tired! How long will this last?
704043 tn?1298056844 t seem to work so well anymore--sometimes seeming to have the opposite effect. I switched to Strattera (for attention/concentration problems due to the dizziness) and have been taking it for five years with NO problems. See if your PCP will let you try Ritalin. It's nonsense that it's not prescribed for adults--it certainly is. My guess is that your neuro just doesn't want to bother.
Avatar f tn I'm also on Provigil. Currently my insurance company won't pay for it but I am getting enough "samples" from my doctor. My doctor tried me on Vynasse (whatever the spelling - new one that starts with a V). I had a horrible time using that. I felt like a rabbit on speed. I wanted to get up and start doing jumping-jacks but since my legs weren't working at that time that wasn't an option. It took a lot of will-power not to just get up and try and run around.
398059 tn?1447945633 Provigil can cause insomnia in some people. This is especially true if it is taken too late in the day (anything past noon I was told by my doc is too late.) Depending on your dosage, how fast they titrate you, and how your body deals with the drug, you may or may not have problems with sleeping. I started on 100mg/day taken when I got up in the AM. The first night I had a bit of insomnia (took me an hour to fall asleep, as opposed to my usual 5 minutes).
429700 tn?1308007823 I also was prescribed Ritalin because my insurance would not cover Provigil. I took it for a year, but it gradually became less effective. I have now moved on to Adderall. Unlike Provigil, the other two meds "kick in" much sooner. I occasionally "schedule" a dose if I know I need evening energy (the kind of energy required to go to a movie with your family). If I forget to take a dose, I am quickly reminded of how well they actually work.
1129232 tn?1360800358 How long does it take for synthroid to take effect to the point where you feel better and see your #'s improve etc? Some tell me 6 weeks and some tell me it takes a good 3 mos.
Avatar f tn Lulu makes a good suggestions about the timing of the Provigil. I also take my dose about 5 to 6am for best effect. It has a very long (like 15 hour) life in the body so you want to be careful not to take it any later than she suggests. Another frequently used med is Amantidine which is also an anti-influenza med and is used in Parkinsons Disease. That would be my next recommendation to ask your doc about. The other meds, including your Vyvanse, are derivatives of amphetamines.
Avatar n tn My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days. About 10 days after he refills the prescription he starts sleeping, all day and night, almost constantly, until the refill date and then this pattern starts all over.
649926 tn?1297657780 I figure the more I know the better before I see the doc. Has anyone had side effects from the Adderal or Provigil? How long have you all been taking them? I am definately going on something (even the the doc doesn't know it yet) lol. I just want to pick the "right" one. Thanks again Anyone else have scoop? The more the info the better - right?!
620048 tn?1358018235 , she has noone else using it yet, so i am her first. As soon as the insurance Co. approves it i will try it and report back to you..as long as i remember.
Avatar m tn For all practical purposes I have been bed ridden for the past 2 months. That is when he suggested Provigil. I have not heard of this on the forum. Anybody know anything as it relates to Hepc tx? Of course I have googled it. He made me another appointment in 4 weeks(a miracle in itself!) to see how it was working and talk more of 24 week treatment.Any comments welcome.
620048 tn?1358018235 Yes, I use Provigil too. Currently only 50mg (I cut the pill with neuro's permission). Higher doses cause heart problems for me. (seeing cardiologist in January). I'm careful not to take the Provigil after 12 noon. However last Saturday when I slept really late it was already 12:30 (Hey, when you don't fall asleep until 3am it's ok to sleep late!) so I didn't take my Provigil. I only lasted until 3pm and then could barely function. Argh.
