provigil

Avatar n tn Consult your doctor about the importance of continuing your current OSA treatment while taking PROVIGIL Shift work sleep disorder (SWSD) Narcolepsy I was prescribed this medication by my Hepatologist for extreme interferon fatigue but did not take it after reading the side effects, particularly the nervousness and trouble sleeping. Some members have reported good results, especially with renewed energy levels.
149081 tn?1242397832 If the central nervous system is being sped up by provigil would the hypothalamus sense this thereby putting undue stress on my endocrine system causing my body to basically shut down? Thanks for anyone able to help with this.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
1710955 tn?1309446473 darn, I took Inderal for years and provigil at the same time go figure
789572 tn?1334424879 hmmm, don't quite know how to take this silence, either hardly anyone has experienced this dern fatigue, or no one found a way to relieve it. Maybe no one but lalapple saw this question? hehe Somebody give me the magic bullet!
Avatar n tn when she takes all the pills that are prescribed to her from just one doctor, everything starts acting up - her bum pancreas and her liver...,so she stops taking the pills on her own and feels better...till she starts taking them again, she's an addict for crimany sakes... I think to myself, don't these doctors see how bad off she is, why on earth would they prescribe her all these pills? Because she asks for them, and they do it.
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
968560 tn?1307451498 I was on tramadol and adderall at the same time without difficulty. Since provigil is similiar to adderall (or at least it is used for the same thing) it should be ok. It is best to get all your prescriptions at the same pharmacy. They will automatically find interactions.
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
Avatar m tn Modafinil (d, l-2-[(diphenylmethyl) sulfinyl] acetamide) [Provigil] is a novel wake- and vigilance- promoting agent that is chemically and pharmacologically dissimilar to CNS stimulants such as the amphetamines, methylphenidate, and pemoline. It is well tolerated and has low abuse liability compared to CNS stimulants. Modafinal promotes wakefulness. During income tax season it enabled me to work business hours in the U.S. and accommodate international clients as well.
Avatar f tn Ginkgo may alter the way the liver breaks down certain drugs. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/patient-ginkgo.
1100837 tn?1267668675 I guess another option would be to stick out the Savella and try the Provigil with it and see how that goes. That way you wouldn't be changing too much while your still getting used to your Plaquenil. If that doesn't help after a couple more weeks you could switch to the Effexor. It's hard to gauge new medications when your on multiple ones. I like to try and keep the changes to a minimum if I can that way I know which one was doing what. Good luck and keep us updated!
Avatar f tn I eventually started going to the bathroom and catching a very few zzzzzs in the stall. I found a way to balance my chin on my hands. If I could actually fall asleep for a few seconds, it brought me out of that fatigue loop and I was able to stay awake. Personally I think that medication is not the answer for fatigue. The best remedy is actually just to take a nap. If you have a problem with your employer, you can get a note from your neurologist.
Avatar n tn I also started to have extreme pain in my temples, forehead(like sinus congestion), and nausea. I went to the ENT and got a CT scan and they said they didnt see any problems with my sinuses. I also stopped taking Provigil, but im still having pressure in my temples and forehead. I know Provigil can cause headaches but this is not like any headache I have had. I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
1511858 tn?1290477459 My muscles tremor when over exherted and I need Provigil to get out of the bed and drive and function without fear of falling asleep ...I've been taking provigil with great success however, I am having a hard time with insurance filling it with new Medicare ins. restrictions and pre auth's required etc.
Avatar f tn then he would take ambien/lunesta to go to sleep. all of the provigil and ambien/lunesta samples would always be gone from the drug room at the office i worked at and they were not going to the patients...
Avatar f tn You need to get yourself to a different neurologist. It sounds to me like that this neurologist has done absolutely nothing to get to the bottom of what's causing the odd sensations, fatigue, and myoclonus jerks. It may be hard to get the Provigil without any type of diagnosis, but it really depends on your insurance company. I was diagnosed with a demyelinating disease prior to the MS diagnosis, and it was difficult getting the Provigil.
619930 tn?1260374254 Thanks for the replies so far. Trinity: Vertex isn't allowing rescue drugs and my doc doesn't want to reduce yet and I really don't either. He believes in the start, the middle and the finish and doesn't like to reduce unless absolutely necessary. He is willing to try this to help with fatigue and work and hold off on reduction as long as possible. I think I agree and so far I trust his experience and judgement.
1394098 tn?1385960134 He did do tests A, B, F and G of the ones you mentioned. I had test C done by someone else and gave him the results. Test E was done by a specialist. And I have been tested for Gluten sensitivity before all of this. So I would say that my Doctor is better than most when making this kind of diagnosis.
Avatar m tn In the end, I was tested for sleep apnea and ended up being diagnosed with RLS, which can cause the same symptoms. The provigil worked great, but like Eagle said, it is very expensive. It supposedly has less addictive properties from meth, but I can see where it would be abused and it is. My advice, talk with your doctor, if he/she thinks it is something that is right for you, give it a try, but stick to the strict dosing instructions.
565254 tn?1224716453 I was almost ready to give in and just stop taking the provigil. I really need the energy to get through the day and all of the after school activities for the girls. I think I will give it more time now. Hopefully, this will work out. I am wondering though when you all get headaches does a one-sides facial numbness ever come with it?
429700 tn?1308007823 After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).
390916 tn?1204840470 Hi all - A few years back, when I was under the care of my neuro only, he prescribed me Provigil and it was amazing...For anyone with severe fatigue, I would suggest you try it. I never felt that racy feeling either, just more wakeful. I believe, also, that unlike amphetimines, it does not affect your heart...thought I remember my doc saying that - that it was much safer than amphetimines...
