Avatar f tn I posted this elsewhere, but it fits under this heading, as well: I have debilitating fatigue due to MS and have tried everything - Provigil, Amantadine, Adderall, Ritalin - the works. While Provigil helped for some time while I was still working, that was many years ago and its effectiveness eventually petered out. At the time, I was taking a very large dose in accordance to doctor's orders, and my side effects (heart palpitations, increased rate of speech, crashing, etc.
Avatar m tn I am just finishing week 12 of tx. Hopefully I will get good news from my PCR test this week. For the first 11 weeks of the tx, I had a very tough time. Barely had the energy to make it out of bed most days, and was extremely foggy all the time. It was very difficult to be able to concentrate on my work or do anything requiring the use of my brain. I was seriously thinking about stopping the tx because of this even though I know the consequences. My Dr. recently prescribed Provigil for me.
Avatar f tn I've been taking abilify for about 6 months now and I'm up to 20mg a day. It seems to be working but I'm not having the drowsy side effects that you speak of, but then I do take my bipolar meds at night, which seems to decrease any sleepiness I might have. Also my doctor prescribed a medication called Provigil to help counteract the drowsiness caused by my medications because I do take several and all of them may cause drowsiness.
Avatar n tn Consult your doctor about the importance of continuing your current OSA treatment while taking PROVIGIL Shift work sleep disorder (SWSD) Narcolepsy I was prescribed this medication by my Hepatologist for extreme interferon fatigue but did not take it after reading the side effects, particularly the nervousness and trouble sleeping. Some members have reported good results, especially with renewed energy levels.

619930 tn?1260374254 You are in a trial correct? Somewhere around week 40 now? Does your trial not permit rescue drugs like Procrit? I know different trials have different guidelines. Hgb is low and if Procrit is not permitted why hasn't your doctor reduced your Riba? At this point a reduction in riba will not be as critical if it were to occur early on in treatment. I have two unopened boxes of Provigil sitting on my dresser since Oct 08. After reading possible side effects I opted not to take it.
416668 tn?1241742794 Dexedrine does cause side effects like other drugs and you can go through in detail through this link http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/dextroamphetamine_ad.htm Although there is no specific study to prove the fact eyelid twitches as caused due to drug, it might be possible as irritation to nerve or muscle. You may continue the drug till you consult your doctor to update on follow up visit or seek advice from an Eye specialist to rule out computer vision syndrome or any other possibilities.
Avatar n tn Hi, hyperkinesias and agitation are associated with provigil but incidence is around 1% only. Dechallenge or removal of drug followed by normal behavior is the only way to find out relation between drug and symptom. For information visit http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/modafinil_ad.
398059 tn?1447945633 Provigil is one they use for excessive fatigue, on the site they said side effects are dizziness, anxiety, headache and a few others. According to a study they did out of 3500 people only 3% of them discontinued because of side effects. They did warn about drinking with it.
1511858 tn?1290477459 My muscles tremor when over exherted and I need Provigil to get out of the bed and drive and function without fear of falling asleep ...I've been taking provigil with great success however, I am having a hard time with insurance filling it with new Medicare ins. restrictions and pre auth's required etc.
Avatar f tn Have looked up the drug info online and it said side effects include nausea and anxiety, among other things, including a serious rash.. It also said that interactions with quite a lot of other drugs are possible. Among them are 2 I take, omeprazole (Prilosec) for GERD, and Lexapro. I'm asking for experiences with Provigil, the good, the bad and the ugly. I'm wondering if these cautions are included just to cover every possible contingency, or if serious side effects are common.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
765921 tn?1240405239 I guess when I get to the rhumatologist, they can help me out better, but I just want to function better with my family, so now I guess we will see where we go from here. Does anyone know much about the side effects personally of Provigil or Lyrica? Any info would be helpful, I have looked at the website but was wondering about personal experiences. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I was given Reglan last Nov after I was diagnosed with ulcers. I didn't suffer the side effects you both are describing, thank God, but had to go off of it because it made my period start and stop. Really severe bleeding. My GI doc INSISTED the Reglan wasn't the culprit, and it wasn't until after I presented her with the side effects list from the pharmacy, would she acknowledge I was right. As soon as I quit this med, my system went back to normal.
Avatar f tn Today I took Provigil for the third time, and it's the third time in a week I've needed it. I'm scared to take it daily because of the severe side effects some people have had, but it's a wonderful drug and I'm curious about what it's doing and how it works in MSers. For me it's all about the "Winco Effect" -- the grocery store that always reduces me to a yawning zombie within 15 minutes (since October 08).
2288403 tn?1339564728 t sleep that night one time I did look up the side effects for provigil and back ache was one of them but im not sure if I ever had that or not...
Avatar f tn I have taken Provigil for my fibro and I think it works great. I felt kind of funny taking meds to both keep me awake and put me to sleep, but I loved taking it. My insurance won't cover it anymore because it is really expensive, but it really did work for me. Hope this helps a little.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have been on 400 mg of provigil for about 5 or 6 years now. I don't take it all everyday, I cut them in half... some days take both of em... depends on how draggy I am feeling. My mom who has high blood pressure also is on provigil for narcolepsy (SPEELED HORRIBLY WRONG!) She had a heart attack back in April and provigil was one of the first drugs the heart doctor put her back on.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar f tn I also know (through googling many different medications) that each time you adjust the dosage, that your body can have side effects. The side effects should get better as your body adjusts, but if they don't, you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.
797195 tn?1240579823 I have been living with MS for ten years and have been lucky. Between taking AVonex and Provigil my relapses are very few and far between. and also not severe.
Avatar f tn I am now on many meds, including cardiac meds and ever vigilant of new problems and side effects. Fortunately my neuro often makes cardiac questions that my cardio didn’t think of (forest for the trees syndrome) and he’s been right on the money! I so appreciate my neuro!
Avatar n tn re that sensitive to the provigil and nuvigil, you may have even more side effects trying to switch to a stimulant. Some of the stimulants used for this purpose include: Ritalin, Focalin, Dexedrine, Desoxyn, and Vyvanse. You said you've already tried Adderall without success, so I left it off this list.
Avatar f tn A couple of times during the slow taper I would step up the dose and start having side effects and have to back down for a while longer and try again after a few more days. I had to go off the provigil for some medical tests, so I've had to do this taper on process twice now, and both times it took me about a month to get up to 200 mg, but I'm sure that varies from person to person.
Avatar f tn I had tried Provigil some years ago for fatigue and didn't have a good experience. I now take Vyvanse for ADHD, and it helps with energy and focus, too. It's great. If you can make it past the side effects in the start; once they are gone, it's great.
