Common Questions and Answers about Provigil and caffeine

provigil

565254 tn?1224716453 I've taken Provigil since August, last year. I had mild headaches when I first started the Progil, but they went away pretty quickly (within a few weeks). I have a propensity for migraine headaches--which I have other treatments for. Now, my migraines are even down in number. I can't attribute this to the Progil, of course, but it does show that after a short while, the headaches in my case, went away. I do, however, only take half of what the doctor orginally ordered.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
Avatar n tn her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...has anyone ever used provigil or knows someone that has? any noticable side effects? and cautions you would give?
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar f tn I am on day 3 of Provigil and am having a very hard time of it. My ever-present hand tremors have gotten much much worse, to the point where it's hard to eat with forks and spoons and I keep spilling food. I'm also feeling wired, as in way too much caffeine, which I generally avoid because of how it makes me feel. My provigil dose is 100 mg in the morning, though I'm allowed up to 200. Yikes, 200 might be unbearable.
Avatar f tn I have the same issues (MS and Sleep Apnea). There are times when I can take the Provigil and still lay down and go right to sleep. I told The Physician Asst at my Neuro office there are times when the fatigue is so bad the Provigil doesn't help. She said that when someone has that level of fatigue there probably isn't anything that will help except sleep. Quix might be able to tell us what the half life of Provigil is. I only take it in the morning.
20003388 tn?1515166040 t made a dent in my fatigue and brain fog despite my levels being optimal now. I do have sleep apnea and use a CPAP at night but my numbers there are also optimal. Caffeine, and most stimulants, make the fatigue worse. I've tried everything under the sun including natural supplements but nothing helps. I'm currently prescribed Provigil but it does little to help. I also suffer from chronic pain.
1394098 tn?1385960134 This is very important as most drugs for CFS have direct effects on neurotransmitters such as Cymbalta, which is a Serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and Provigil, which is a dopamine transporter re-uptake inhibitor.
Avatar f tn I have tried provigil on and off for years. No side effects. It did keep me from that feeling I couldnt wake up for any reason. No insurance complained but now suddenly, they said because I made a late insurance payment, Im being canceled. I believe they dont want to pay for my provigil. I had sent the payment to Aetna Tri Net Cobra and did it online instead of mailing it, had I mailed it, it would have been postmarked. I got very little mail for days after the Memorial Holiday.
518001 tn?1212419235 My current neuro prescribed Provigil for me the first day he saw me, but later I realized he had already decided I had MS. Provigil is used in the fatigue of MS, CFS, and Fibro. It is off-label, but has show itself to be quite safe and not have a dependence problem. Another possiblity is amantadine, but most people like Provigil better. If your B12 is on the low side, even without being deficient, I recommend the sublingual 1mg supplement of B12 in the "methycobalmin" form.
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
Avatar f tn If I need quick short bursts of energy I take Ritalin if I need to stay awake and alert all day I take Provigil. Provigil is safe and it really works wonders. I think in the U.K. in generic so much cheaper there than in the US. You may want to ask about it since those drinks are full of stuff out bodies don't really need. I smoke so I'm not preaching what to do or not to do just a suggestion that works for me.
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding. With the Nuvigil (and Provigil, for anyone else reading), do you get the kind of after-effects you'd get from a caffeine-rush? What I'd dread is the terrible feeling that I've run on empty, used energy that I haven't got and end up feeling it horribly later. From what I understand, NT Factor contains vitamins, minerals and compounds that support the energy-making processes in your body, as well as general health.
572651 tn?1530999357 I don't have MS but I have had experience with real Provigil and fake Provigil BCBS won't cover Provigil, even with dramatic results of a sleep study and literally my going to sleep at the wheel.Even with excessive caffeine I never woke up and most of my days were spent napping. The authentic Provigil samples from the Doctor and the Modafinil, manufactured in Canada, sold at Walmart in US (BUT THE PILLS ARE STAMPED PROVIGIL) are not the same.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
400099 tn?1282954864 I don't have a lot of the common MS symptoms like tireness (not yet anyway). Oh every now and again when I over due it, yes but not generally. Now that dr found my vit D low, he recd's vit D and magnesium to "boost and energize". Didnt' know vitamin D and mag did this but apparently if low it can make you tired. Also B12 suppliments. Eating well though is really the best way to keep body going. Exercise also helps alot. Not overdue it but moderate.
