Common Questions and Answers about Protonix generic drug

protonix

Avatar f tn ~$.37/pill for 20mg Generic, ~$.56/pill for 40mg Generic, ~$.95/pill 20mg Brand, ~$1.10/pill 40mg Brand. For the moment, see if your doc will allow you to use generic Omeprazole (aka, Prilosec OTC). While there are better things out there, it might work as a stop gap measure that's not as extreme as Reglan. Good luck.
Avatar f tn actually medicaid will pay for protonix or a generic version of it...I had gotten it filled three X just recently.
Avatar f tn First, Butternut- got a second note notification from you from medhelp via e-mail, but it was not there when I looked for it. Now, JM- This kind of thing with insurance happened (only it was with a "tier exception" to an immediate relative of mine with Plavix (has an allergy to aspirin). Though he was allergic to aspirin, they have a preferred generic of some other kind of drug that isn't as expensive for them.
Avatar f tn My HMO will not cover the cost for Protonix or the generic form. Can you tell me if OTC Prilosec will have the same efficacy as Protonix? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I am aware of Protonix generic Pantoprazole. I have now been advised by a Pharmacist that Prevacid will help me. Will it?? Is this a Beta Blocker only or more? Are there ANY Proton pump Inhibitors out there other than Protonix and generic?. Is there a hospital injection of medicine that can be given? I will anxiously await any and all replys. I am living on Pepcid now with little relief. My Pharmacy puts Protonix at $737. for 180 40mg.tabs of Protonix and $570 for Pantoprazole.
Avatar f tn The best medicines I have been prescribed are Nexium and Protonix. Protonix has a generic available so is inexpensive and works perfectly for me. Studies have shown Nexium to be consistently the most effective but it is more expensive and not always covered by every health insurance plan. United Healthcare for example does not cover Nexium.
Avatar m tn When a patent for a brand name drug expires, pharmaceutical company can make a generic form of the drug. Effexor patent expired in 2006, since then several generics are available. Those generics are usually cheaper but they must contain the same active ingredient(s), the same dosage form, at the same dose or concentration, and for the same route of administration. The generics are usually cheaper and can use different inactive ingredients and preservatives which can sometimes cause trouble.
883607 tn?1241847511 You can try Webmd for generic names but most drs and many pharmacists have a 2 tier system, name brands and generic drugs and dispense them accordingly. Not all name brand drugs have generic equivalents so they don't use the generic names. Most pharmacists also are so busy that they only have time to verify the meds in the bottle against what is in it and read the possible side effects if needed by a patron.
Avatar n tn Hi there, You seem very to know a lot about certain drugs. I have a question about benedryl. Is it okay to take with pvc's? My heart is structurally normal and I have had all the tests. I'm on 1/4 of a 25mg of tenormin to help with the pvc's and pat. I'm also on protonix for reflux. I was wondering about that drug as well. My cardio suggested claritin but I'm really hesitant to take that.
Avatar m tn Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
Avatar f tn My doc just prescribed me heartburn med Protonix...it is amazing ! I was having the same issues with thinking if I was taking to many tums- the heartburn was KILLING ME !!! Just ask your doc... my doc told me if this med didn't relieve my heartburn that there was another med she could prescribe. ..but the Protonix has been great. Take it once daily and I'm good to go !
Avatar f tn The best person to ask about drug interactions is your Pharmacist at your local drug store...they know which meds should not be taken together and which ones can be taken together safely,.... The protonix should be the better med to take as I am sure it is stronger...talk to the Pharmacist and let me know what they advise.
519725 tn?1211997846 I also experience chronic peptic disease (for the last 2 years) for which I take 80 mg of Protonix PPI (generic) each morning and 300 mg of Rantidine each evening. Lower doses don't help as much. Yet, I still wake up in the morning with a little discomfort in my gut. Are you aware of relationships between hypothyroidism and peptic disease? Are there any treatments you could recommend for peptic disease? I already try to avoid high acidic foods and alcohol and caffeine.
Avatar n tn Personally, I like Nexium. I think it is a better drug. I have a drug plan and I have to take Prilosec. I can't even get the trade name, I have to take the generic. I took Nexium for a few years and I do think it worked better for me. I don't know about water brash, sorry.
Avatar n tn Meds are aspirin (81), protonix (40), HCTZ (25), Lisinopril (10-20) sertraline (50) and now the 6.25 carvedilol.
645800 tn?1466860955 In the end this means if you are given a generic drug you should research the brand name drug in order to see the latest risks for the drug you are to take.
Avatar f tn Dear orangeblossoms, The process and outcome of pre-authorization is really case by case and depends on how good of a case is made by the requesting physician. We have seen the length of time anywhere from 2-10 business days depending on the urgency of the condition & treatment. If by any chance your carrier does not approve your meds, I recommend that you check into obtaining your medication using forms & information on www.needymeds.org website.
709686 tn?1277432159 Protonix (Pantoprozole) does not give me problems...maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
1387175 tn?1326400997 um what are h2 blockers i'll try it i sick of taking the purple pill everyday i know the generic is cheaper now then the brand but can you tell me what H2 Blockers are or maybe i will google it thanks
Avatar f tn He prescribed Protonix. I've read some things on the internet and the dr gave me some information about it. It seems to be more prevalent in older men. I'm a 46 year old female. He doesn't think my systemic lupus has anything to do with the disease but I will leave that question to my rheumy. I was supposed to go on methotrexate this month but I've read that if taking Protonix there are serious complications with that drug.

Avatar f tn After being on Protonix 40 mg. for 1 month plus taking 1-1/2 mg. Lorazapam a day it began to affect my saliva flow. I lost ten pounds in one month because I did not have enough saliva flow to break down alot of different foods. I am now eating very healthy but found out that between the Protonix and Lorazapam they both have done a job on my mouth. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to discontinue the Lorazapm under my doctor's care and I have not taken Protonix for 7 days.
