I've followed this research, and from what I've learned the drug interaction of Plavix and PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) is not not that strong. I doubted the report from the start as I took Plavix and PPI's and my blood was as thin as tea, I bruised very, very easily, and the blood tests to determine my clotting factor wasn't changed by taking the two drugs.

However, I looked up the study and indeed, Prylosec can have an effect with Plavix in some people. I have to say, Jim, that a full 325 mg aspirin plus 150 mg of Plavix is a gorilla dose. I have heard that there is some problem mixing vitamin K with a blood thinner. I am taking 75 mg of plavix and cannot find anything about the vitamin K interaction. I need additional calcium, and the brand I am looking at taking would give me 40mcg of vitamin K. Is this safe or a problem? Where can I find how much vitamin K is in a serving of broccoli or spinich?
Hopefully, the patient is getting all their medications filled at the same pharmacy and they do cross index medications that a patient is taking. They have a record of all prescriptions filled by them for the patient. Doctors do make mistakes and it's the pharmacist job to catch it, they are more knowledgable when it comes to drug interactions! As for supplements, yes....
I may be mistaken but I believe it is the interaction of plavix and aspirin that is the thetherapuetic underpinnings for the dual medication to help prevent clots with DES. Each medication has different mechanisms for treatment of blood clots and alone it has been shown are not as effective as together. Following your logic to separate to avoid the interaction of the drugs is somehow beneficial! would be like taking either aspirin or plavix as the sole treatment?
A healing leg (just out of cast) prohibits stress testing and the dr said he wouldn’t get the results he wanted anyway. I take aspirin 325, plavix, 80mg lipitor, protonix (just to protect stomach), 10mg zetia, capoten 25mg 3x, imdur 60mg 2x. I did have high blood pressure (150+/80+ p90) but am now unexplainably low 80/60 p 60 while on same meds. My question is – what do I do now?. Could these new stents possibly be failing?
s very successfully for years, but also mixed in lab tests to make sure the drug mix I was taking could be tolerated. I was taking some very powerful heart meds as well, such as Plavix, Coreg and Ranexa and Lasix. Lasix requires taking gorilla doses of Potassium, so I was monitored carefully, every 90 days. I had a Nissen Fundoplication and also Heart Bypass surgery so no longer have to take any of these medications except Lasix and Potassium.
I had no Magnesium depletion.
I am on my second DES in my LAD-first a cypher stent that had a proximal occlusion at the leading edge of the stent after two years,8 months on Plavix and con't on asa-325.
what do you do when you have had stent for three months and are on plavix and have severe pain from back problem. the hear doctor says stay on plavix to protect the stent. the back doctor will not operate on plavix. the result chronic pain and pain pills every four hours and can only recline in chair. what do you do? does anyone know a back doctor in alabama or georgia with experience in these cases.
No added interaction. Make sure to bring full list of all medications your husband is on to each doctor's appointment as he may see more than one prescriber and make sure to show that list to them each time they consider prescribing new medications.

FDA is alerting the public to new safety information concerning an interaction between clopidogrel (Plavix), an anti-clotting medication, and omeprazole (Prilosec/Prilosec OTC), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce stomach acid. New data show that when clopidogrel and omeprazole are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced.
49 years old, family of five, and own my own software company. Had heart attack in Nov 08. Blocked artery. No idea I had it. Angioplasty and drug eluding stent. Put on Plavix, Aspirin, Coumadin, Simvastatin, Lisiniprol. Went through cardiac rehab for three months. Rehab went great. In best shape of my life. Then two months after heart attack, with one month to go in rehab, started to get terrible constriction in my throat - around my adams apple.

He was diagnosed after many episodes with esophogitis and I cant recall the last one having to do with his stomach not emptying properly.
