Avatar f tn m a vegetarian so I get my protein from tofu and other foods made from soy, beans, nuts, and dairy products. You don't know all the ingredients in the protein powder so I'd ask my doctor about it.
Avatar n tn Good fats found in pistachios, almonds and walnuts as well as the protein they provide make these nuts good ones to eat. A suggestion I once heard was to eat a small handful of nuts prior to having your meal to help curb your appetite. Another one I saw recently suggested a glass of water with lemon in it- don't remember if it was a half hour?- before your meal can help you feel less hungry.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you need extra protein, so maybe try adding to your diet eggs, cheese, chickpeas, other beans/legumes, some canned fish, fruit/veg smoothie with protein powder and plain yoghurt, nuts and seeds (I make up bliss balls to snack on as I don't like nuts and seeds by themselves, but once you add some dried fruit or a bit of honey, they are much more edible).

360318 tn?1340393363 Nuts, though high in fat, are actually quite heart healthy and very high in protein. Beans are another good source of protein. All animal food is high in protein, with fish being high in fat but good fat. You have a lot of choices. It's not the amount of fat that's important, since most protein foods contain fat, it's the kind of fat and the variety in the diet -- eating a lot of vegetables, for example, provides the antioxidants that help prevent fat from being a problem.
Avatar f tn m on a very strict nutritional program and typically eat two (6 ounce) servings of meat (chicken breast or eye of round) and 1-2 whey protein shakes per day. Different things I've read says that meat is to be limited to 5 ounces per day and no whey. Does anyone have any information on how our protein levels are reached with these limitations? I cannot eat nuts and one can only eat so many egg whites in a day.

This chart tells you how many grams of carbohydrates and fat are in different types of foods and are grouped by type of food. 7177914 tn?1399518500 What are some foods that are high in protein besides chicken and beef? This pregnancy meat isnt sitting real well with me and I'm wondering if my lack of protein could be why I continuously keep getting sick... I've heard salmon, brussel sprouts, both I love, beans which I'm not a fan of... any other ideas lovlies?? I'm also hoping if I get more protein maybe I won't constantly feel like I haven't eaten in days... lol TIA!!!
Avatar f tn t associate as being fruits, such as nuts (not peanuts, which are legumes) and seeds, which are high in protein but can also be high in fat. Though eating a moderate amount actually cuts cholesterol and might even lead to weight loss, calorie obsessed diets often exclude them. Squash is also a fruit, though we usually think of it as a vegetable, just as tomatoes are a fruit but many people think it's a vegetable.
Avatar f tn If you get too full too fast, try having more high-calorie foods or slices of foods as opposed to consuming the whole thing (raisins versus grapes, granola and Grape Nuts versus corn flakes, mango slices versus the whole mango). Limit drinking beverages to a half-hour before and after a meal. Drink mixed juices (apple/berry, peach/orange/banana as opposed to one juice beverages) for a higher calorie intake.
Avatar f tn nuts are good for you.. they are a good source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids.... i dont know why you wouldnt eat them.. I do remember reading somewhere that eating alot of nuts in your pregnancy can cause nut allergies but i dont know if this is true... it was on the internet.. I was never advised by my doctor to avoid them.. If its true though, my poor baby is screwed becasue I had peanut butter and almonds all through my pregnancy...
Avatar f tn Nuts. High in protein and fiber, and although expensive by the pound you don't need very many at a time. There are a million foods made out of soy and other legumes, high in protein. Bananas -- lots of energy, high in electrolytes. Seeds -- hemp seeds most complete vegetable protein, even more complete than soy. Whole grain pasta -- you can get it made out of brown rice, spelt, kamut, amaranth, even with protein added from legumes. There's a world of food out there.
Avatar f tn So what examples of foods should i eat that are good for u.c?
401095 tn?1351391770 Foods That Increase Your Dopamine And Norepinephrine Naturally! What we eat affects the formation of neurotransmitters, and some diet-related neurotransmitters have a significant affect on our mood, our appetite and our cravings. This in turn causes the brain to communicate in the form of an impulse (craving for certain foods) the need for certain neurotransmitters that it requires to restore balance.
Avatar n tn You might consider taking lysine supplements and avoiding foods high in arginine as soon as initial symptoms appear. These foods include nuts and nut butters, seeds, chocolate, carob, coconut, raisins, gelatin, whole grains, lentils, soybeans, spinach, watercress and seaweed. Some foods, such as meat and dairy products, also contain arginine but have higher amounts of lysine, so those are acceptable. That's from my info.
Avatar f tn Being pregnant has created some food aversions for me.. I cant even think about fish or chicken. The only thing I'll eat for protein is yogurt, milk, peanut butter, some nuts. But I dont think I'm getting enough in.. Any suggestions on foods???
Avatar m tn t limit yourself. Also remember seeds and nuts are great sources of protein. I would also assume fish would be fine. And you might do better with meat that is naturally raised, as it's less fatty -- venison and buffalo, for example, have less fat than many non-animal foods.
6231275 tn?1379901818 Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). Recommend you read up on vegetarian and combinations of starches / vegetables and beans / nuts for protein, calcium, and other nutrients. Good sources of information are the American Dietetic Association website, www.eatright.org and Vegetarian Resource Group website, www.vrg.org. As a vegan you can lose weight, however, you need to have the right combos as stated above.
Avatar n tn Varriety is trully the key. There are calories from 4 sources, carbohydrates, fat, protein, and alcohol. Fat, protein, and carbs all are important in moderation daily in order for your bpody to get what it needs. Fat has 9 calories, the others 4.
Avatar n tn There are many good vegetarian protein sources. Nuts, beans, higher protein whole grains and seeds and grain-like foods. I'd go buy a few books on vegetarian cooking. But know that not everyone is equipped to do well as a vegetarian -- most vegetarians do it for ideological reasons and it is harder to get all your nutrients as a vegetarian, particularly methionine and B12, so you do have to learn how to do it well.
