Hi, Most people normally shed 50 to 100 hairs a day and this amount of hair loss should not cause noticeable thinning of the scalp hair. Hair thinning and loss could be due to increased rate of shedding compared to the rate of regrowth. This could be due to: hormonal changes, poor nutrition, diseases, certain medications, infections and stress.

So I was wondering if there is medication that contains whichever ingredients are contained in birth control that has aided in my hair regrowth that I could take so that I can go off the pill when I'm ready to get pregnant and not have my hair fall out again.

I am a 23 year old male and noticed approximately 4-5 weeks ago that I have been losing quite a bit of hair. Not in large clumps but when I run a wet hand through my hair, a good 10-20 hairs are stuck to it. If I keep running my hand through more and more keeps coming out. Although it is worst in the front it appears to be rapidly thinning everywhere. I have very thick hair so this may have been going on for longer and I may have just not realized it.

I do not want to stop taking Propecia because it has done wonders for my hair. Propecia has halted my hair loss and has re-grown considerable amount of hair. Thus, I need to address my erection problems while still being able to take Propecia. I read that L-Arginine could help with my erectile problems and that it works similar to Viagra. Thus, I began taking L-Arginine, 1500 mg. twice a day. It has helped but it has not solved the problem.

It it unusual for regrowth to take this long? Can TE cause permanent hair loss? My understanding is that hair falls out when a new hair underneah pushes it out- if this is true, why am I not seeing new hair growth?

Propecia was designed for prostate health and was then found, by accident, to also bring back hair growth lost within 2 years. My derm told me that Propecia will soon be available to women however it does have more than its share of contraindications so I would not count on that one anytime soon. Silica is also supposed to help however it seems to me more of a hair thickener rather than anything that will slow hair loss/encourage hair growth.

My eyelashes fell out and came back a couple of times...I think it's because those hairs are short lived and replace themselves pretty quickly. I always considered the first hair to regrow the "bad" hair.... it seems very brittle and not quite right. Once that grows out, the newer hair should be more normal. Congrats on the twins. I know going bald is hereditary, but the fact is that it starts when -the body is producing to much testosterone that is being converted into DHT -Or some other type of imbalance is causing excess DHT DHT causes hair loss I am in the exact same boat as you guys except no propecia for my hair loss I also have gynecomastia and I am awaiting my hormone test to see if there is an underlying cause.

It has been a month now but my Gyno hasnt reduced, I restarted propecia as I was starting to lose hair. Also I am witnessing libido problems (I can masturbate twice a day but my erections are not fuller and penis looks like it has shrunk), The place I live is also very cold with temp at night being -2 C(Can it also been an effect?) I went to a dermatologist and she put me on propecia for the hair loss. I also took a blood test and said my iron was low. But other then that I my blood was normal. Is it possible they ran certain tests on my blood and not others which maybe why I am misdiagnosed. I have a follow up in late july. I didnt have this burning sensation before i went to see my doc. Hi CR, Try giving up both for 8 weeks, and then see if you erections start to come back, if they do, just give up the Propecia, and accept like me your going bald, get you hair cut short, me I have a Num 1, yes that short, means you still have some hair, then shave the top, It would be the best thing for you, just don't let it get you down, become a new me with short hair. If by week 4 you start to get nocturnal erections back along with morning woods its working.

About three months ago I started taking propecia because I thought my hair was falling out too young. I experienced several side effects from the drug including total loss of sex drive, difficulty maintaining erections, loss of spontaneous erections/morning erections.
