prometrium start period

When I took prometrium 3 years ago, it took about 12 or 14 days to get my period. I only had one cycle since I got pregnant with my son on the second round. Good luck!!!

typically for me it takes 3 days.. some people start immediately though.. have you taken a preg test recently?

Right, so I was taking progesterone to keep my period from coming so that things would have a chance to do their magic. In fact, I was told my period couldn't come as long as I was taking the progesterone supplements. Only it did come. So I figured the progesterone clearly wasn't working and stopped taking it. But now I don't know whether my body's got things under control without the progesterone (which would be super, duper, crazy awesome)?

I am on prometruim on days 14-28, my understanding is that it helps thicken the lining of your uterus and makes you have a period. If I actually get pregnant during a cycle obviously I won't know it until cycle day 28 or so - My question is will taking the prometruim make my cycle start even if I conceive therefore causing an abortion?? Does the prometruim function like birth control causing your cycle to start or will my period only start if I don't ovulate or conceive?

ve only been on either BC pills or progesterone (Prometrium) to start in the past. Anyone have any experience with this?

Prometrium doesn't delay your period. It's supposed to make it start. Mine didn't start until 2 weeks after I took the last pill, which I think is normal.

-( The doc now has me on 5 days of prometrium, I think to facilitate a period and start the whole process over. Anyone know about prometrium being used to facilitate a period? How many days later should it start? Any side effects? Thanks for the help.

I talked to the doctor today who told me to stop the prometrium and I should expect my period in 2-3 days. I had my hopes up that perhaps I was pregnant because I know some women who have not gotten a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week after the expected period. I think I had my hopes up too much when the period was late when in fact it may have been the progesterone that was delaying my period. Has anyone had experience on progesterone like this?

I believe you can take prometrium to do the same. I am wondering if i am not pregnant if my af will start while i am on the prometrium. I am not sure if the test they are doing is quantitative. Maybe they are just interpreting the numbers and telling if i am pregnant or not.

I have had 3 past m/c, but 3 healthy children since the last one. I found out Thurs. I was pregnant. I called my ob. He started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally per day. I started that Friday night. Sat. afternoon I had some brown spotting. Was checked at ER and everything ok. hcg was 17-they said was very early.They also checked my progesterone level. Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely.

my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?

But my doc told me to start trying after I get two periods after my last Lupron shot. And she gave me Prometrium to get my period back quicker because it didn't come back on its own. My thing is that I don't want to wait any longer I want to try now!!

This is my first time posting a question so bear with me. I'm a 24 y/o F who has been trying to get pregnant since last April. I have very irregular and missed periods so my Dr. put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet.

m on the last day of my 2 weeks of taking Prometrium to get my period back after Lupron. This morning while I was at a hair appointment, I started to get really dizzy and nauseous, and I felt really weak and faint. i have absent periods, i take prometrium to have a period then start clomid. this is my fourth round.

My doc wants me to start Clomid, but I have to have a period this month to begin it. She (my dr) told me that the prometrium is to make me start my period. Yes, I have been told that prometrium suppositories do delay your period while you take them, but as soon as you stop them, if you are not pregnant, you will get your period in a couple of days.

My husband and I are TTC our first child. I took clomid 50(cycle2) on Jan 11th (3-7)after 5 days my period has started and i'm still bleeding with clots.Doc has prescribed me the prometrium 200 mg for 5 days to stop.Then he is asking me to take clomid100 for this cycle3. He told us we could start trying again after one cycle. I should start my period this week. I really want to start trying again. With the last m/c we ran chromosome testing and blood work to see if we could pin point any problems and everything came back normal with the exception of the MTHFR factor. I tested pos. for one strand of MTHFR. They checked my homocystine levels and they were normal.

I'm so sorry about the BFN, Miranda - it's all so frustrating and confusing especially when you know the conditions are right for conception. My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. I am TTC and taking crinone gel on day 17 until I get my period. I have noticed that I start having some mild cramps around 5 or 6 days after starting the crinone suppositories. If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara. For some reason that we don't entirely understand, Metformin reduces the insulin insensitivity that is a part of the PCOS. The Femara would help you to ovulate regularly and speed up the time to conception.
