Common Questions and Answers about Prograf side effects dose

prograf

Avatar f tn thanks kande and D977 for all information about prograf and its side effects .....this is sudarshan liver transplant recipient from India ....can u tell me from where u people will get this prograf capsule 1 mg ..
Avatar f tn if there is hypertension it needs to be controlled. the prograf dose should be safely minimized if possible. Hopefully these interventions will help--rarely the prograf needs to be changed to an alternative medication.
Avatar m tn t understand the relationship between treatment and Prograf dose. It sounds logical to think that the higher the Prograf dose the less likely TX will be successful and, at the extreme, I think that's probably true. But, whether 3 mg per day or 6 mg Prograf per day makes any difference is a question I cannot answer. When I treated there was a reluctance to dose the way a non-transplant patient would have been dosed and that can be and, in my case, was problematic.
Avatar m tn My wife is a doctor and dentist work is found infected with the HBV virus. I am very concerned for my wife A month before the tests showed high figures about ALT 130 AST 60 ALT after a month had dropped to 118 digits unchanged ast if you can please help me with an answer as soon as possible. Does that mean that the root of ALT that my wife is gaining immunity from HBV?
Avatar f tn I think 2 mg Prograf per day at 6 months out is a really nice dose and his Prograf blood level of 6.5 is definitely within range.
Avatar m tn if its HCV and nothing else I wouldnt rush to treating you but would let things play out as the therapy can be difficult and cause a lot of side effects. there may also be new meds available soon in the post-liver transplant setting.
Avatar m tn Post transplants should be aware that Sovaldi increases effects of prograf, so prograf level has to be checked and the dose may need to be adjusted. Feeling better with each day, more energy, liver enzymes normal. So there is hope for all post-transplants! Wishing SVR to all of you!
686869 tn?1227199935 Cellcept is a strong drug and as far as I know it has more side effects than prograf. I am taking now (6 years after TP) 1.5 mg of prograf and 1 mg of rapamune per day. The latter is considered also to have some antiviral effect. However, different people metabolize drugs differently, so it has to be decided based on lab tests. You take now 4 mg of program and 1000 mg of cellcept, which seems to be a large dose.
Avatar f tn rigorous control of any hypertension or diabetes and avoidance of NSAIDS such as ibuprofen, aleve is essential. Trying to minimize the prograf dose while taking myfortic should also be undertaken. Establishing care with a nephrologist early after transplant is also a good idea.
1644856 tn?1301038801 s susceptibility for cancer, be it multiple myeloma or melanoma (skin cancer). You should be followed with serial blood tests--the dose of prograf is not that high.

Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
1608566 tn?1298196868 Have him talk to his doctor about changing his dose, breaking down the dose over the course of the day or maybe even changing the med to some other.
Avatar f tn I am 6 years post liver transplant from genotype 3 Hep C. My doctors want to start treatment to clear the virus. I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
Avatar f tn just a quick question if anybody can answer it for me dose a dose increase in fluoxetine (prozac) cause any side effects? I'm going from 20mg per day to 40mg tonight due to the fact i'm feeling the 20mg isn't working as good as it has done for me.
Avatar m tn the new medications may affect the dose of prograf dramatically, possibly up to 70%. this might make it difficult to control the levels and predispose the person to rejection or renal failure. there are very early studies looking at this. our center is not starting patients on therapy except if someone has a fulminant course of recurrence until more data are available. i am sure that other centers however will embrace the new meds and will be actively treating patients with them.
Avatar m tn I think a liver biopsy would definitely tell us what is going on, so that if no rejection is seen the team would feel more comfortable in lowering the prograf dose.
Avatar n tn My history: liver transplant 1 year ago, had 2 moderate rejections and 1 mild since transplant. At present time having moderate rejection, recently had one portal stent and 8 Bilary ERCP's to remove stones and sludge and had stenting done, and at the present time there are no blockages. Was on Rapamune (5mg a day) prior to hernia surgery and then week before hernia surgery was put on Prograf (4mg a day) and taken off the Rapamune. I have been on Progaf since hernia surgery (8 weeks ago).
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
Avatar f tn I'm geno type 3. I've heard Prograf is harder on the kidneys than sirolimus which is why they switched me from cyclosporine to sirolimus. That's probably why they haven't suggested switching me to Prograf in fact this is the first time I'm hearing about Prograf or Tacrolimus (it's other name as I found on the web). Thanks for your response and congrats on your great report since week 4 !
Avatar f tn Of late Iam having many side effects because of the prolonged usage of themedicine like restlessness,,slight giddiness anxiety and gabbraut. The medicine is only to supplement the shortage externally.Do you agree Homeopathy treatment will be advisable.Ihighly value your input.
Avatar m tn I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
