Avatar m tn Prior to being diagnosed with Hep C I was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome. My question is that if I have attained SVR what are my chances of my kidneys returning to normal. I've done research on this but have inconclusive answers. If anyone knows anything or can direct me to a site that shows remission rates for nephrotic syndrome post treatment of HCV it would be greatly appreciated. **I must say the stories on this site helped me get through this ordeal.
Avatar f tn With this, one has to check for the presence of hematuria or red blood cells in the urine, your blood pressure and total cholesterol levels. Nephrotic syndrome is a primary differential here. Was your kidney function assessed ( BUN and creatinine levels determined?). With the back pain, several differentials also need to be ruled out. This includes musculoskeletal pain, arthritc pain and an underlying spinal cord condition. Chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia should also be considered.
Avatar n tn Seven patients, of whom five were hepatitis C positive, developed renal function impairment long after transplantation, as well as de novo nephrotic syndrome (n = 5), severe hypertension (n = 5), nephritic syndrome (n = 1), and increased serum creatinine (n = 1). This type III cryoglobulinemia was associated with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis and with thrombi within the glomeruli in one case.
Avatar m tn I recently saw a post on here where someone was asking the question connecting these two problems together....I am wondering what other people have come across? My daughter was diagnosed with Minimal Change Disease...which of course is idiopathic. I am wondering if Lymes could have been her "cause". Any thoughts or theories or? would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn i am a patient of nephrotic syndrome minimal change taking prednislone 20 mg for 10 years i had protected sew with a sexworker after 10 days i saw a flat ulcer on my penies like a peel of skin it goes away in 5 days i tested for vdrl tpha fta abs and hiv dna test after 14 weeks all came back negative my question is are my test reliable i m worried about therotical concern of immunesupreession durgs
Avatar m tn hey my daughter is 9 and half years old she gets puss boils on her body which are painful....she was treated for it but got it again...
Avatar n tn I've experienced foamy urine.........when I was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, massive protien spillage causes it. Your doc should get you to provide a 24hr collection to have an accurate prediction of protienurea, a dip stick can be misleading especially if you are a high protien eater. Sometimes it can just be a reaction of certain meds that are being taken.
Avatar f tn I think 2 mg Prograf per day at 6 months out is a really nice dose and his Prograf blood level of 6.5 is definitely within range.
Avatar m tn It can also occur in cardiac failure, liver failure and nephrotic syndrome. So, further therapy and prognosis will depend on the cause. If you can get back with the diagnosis, I can help elaborate further. Regards.
Avatar n tn If i lower my prograf lower than 6.5 through rate i start getting discomfort right side .i am having cognitive issues on prograf that are getting very hard to live with, seems like it got alot worse after my last of three mri with contrast in two years. was hospitalized two days after last contrast exsposure white blood count went to1000, headach, fever urine got exstremly foamy, severe itching ,tighting and rashd eveloped on lower legs two weeks after.
Avatar m tn I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
Avatar n tn Hi, Frothy urine seems to be associated with increased protein levels in the urine ( as in nephrotic syndrome). Some have associated this with calcium levels and gallblader disease. As for the first question, at this point we can not definitely tell that the antibiotics made your urine frothy. However drugs are metabolized by the liver and kidney and are excreted in the urine.
Avatar n tn I believe that diarrhea can cause an elevation in Prograf level. Taking Prograf with food can decrease absorption and result in a lower Prograf level. This is even more pronounced if you take it with fatty food. If Prograf doesn't upset your stomach it is best taken about 1 hour before eating - on an empty stomach. The range on my labs sheet is 4 - 16 so you are well within range.

Avatar f tn Pentamidine (aerosol) 1x monthly, Prograf 2mg 2x daily, metroprolol tartarate 12.5mg 2x daily, magnesium oxide 400mg 2x daily, oscal, multi vitamin, vitamin d3 1000iu 1x daily. Thanks.
Avatar n tn m afraid your friend has got the nephrotic syndrome. Back to 2005, his protein level of 1G/24hr was already too high. He needs to see a nephrologist immediately and start treatment straight away. A kidney biopsy could be considered.
Avatar n tn Damage to the tiny blood vessels in your kidneys (glomeruli) that filter waste and excess water from your blood can result in nephrotic syndrome. One result of nephrotic syndrome is low levels of protein (albumin) in your blood, which can lead to fluid accumulation and edema. Worst case scenarios.
Avatar m tn My current dose is Prograf 3 mg AM/ Prograf 3 mg PM and Rapamune 4 mg AM. The intent is to convert me to 100% Rapamune because of the nephro-toxicity of the Prograf and my young age and because of the anti-cancer properties of Rapamune. Data, while horribly limited, has shown Rapamune's anti-cancer properties have had success against vascular tumors such as mine so EHE, in this case chronic, is part of the cancers Rapamune affects (some cancers it has no effect).
Avatar n tn Have them check for protein loss in your urine this might cause those symptoms instead of GI? There is a disease called Nephrotic Syndrome. This usually has edema (swelling in the feet, ankles, around eyes. However you could have vomiting and weight gain as well. Just a shot in the dark. I'm not in the medical profession, so please don't take this to heart, this is just something to read about. Don't be scared to come right out and ask your DR what he/she is checking you for.
Avatar n tn Hi The symptoms of swollen face and gain in body weight in a child may be due to allergy, hypothyroidism, kidney problems or as a side effect to steroids. The first signs of nephrotic syndrome are puffy eyelids and a swollen face. You should consult a pediatrician. A careful history taking, physical examination and laboratory studies (thyroid profile, urinalysis and serum albumin) would help reach the correct diagnosis so that appropriate therapy can be initiated.
Avatar n tn - have a damaged spleen or no spleen - have sickle-cell disease - have HIV infection or AIDS - have cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma - have nephrotic syndrome - have had an organ or bone marrow transplant - are taking medication that lowers immunity (such as chemotherapy or long-term steroids). When a second dose is given, it should be given 5 years after the first dose. Here is a Vaccine Information Statement with more information: http://www.cdc.
Avatar f tn I went into rejection twice in the hospital and because of this my transplant team saw it best to put me on 5mg of prograf twice a day as well as 4 mg of rapimune, which by the way was off label and i had to sign a release form for. Just within the past 2 months they lowerd my dosage of rapimune to 2mg but kept the prograf the same. My question to you is exactly how suppressed is my immune system?
1644856 tn?1301038801 Will it come because of the fk prograf? I also fight diabetes, which I never had before the transplant. Now I feel like some junkie on pain killers. What do you think of all this? I`am worried about the future.
