My daughter recently had a liver transplant (june 2008) and we are having a heck of a time to keep her magnesium levels at an acceptable level. She vomits a lot and is now 119lbs (she's 5'9"). I am trying to find a magnesium supplement that will work for her instead of the Magnesium Oxide tablets. I have read a little about the Ionic Magnesium in my search to help her in hopes I might be able to find her something that will work.She is on 1.
Two months back entacavir was withdrawn and I am now treated with tenofovir, prograf(6mg), cellcept(1000mg) and Magnesium suppliment. Almost at the same time( 2months back) I suffered from maleria also.
Since then SGOT and SGPT are gradually rising from normal level, and they are now 69 and 46 level( normal range is 4) and rose to 3.2 almost one month back but it goes down to 2.3 now.
What could be reason? Is it showing sign of HBV recurrance or is it any sign of rejection?
Its kind of the same feeling i had after my transplant when i was on hi doses of prograf. Any ideas ? Can i try lowering my prograf to try and alievaite this cognitive impairment by adding maybe some cellcept? I have never been on anything but prograf alone except prednisone 6 mo tx .My mouth stays extreamly dry tounge seams to be affixed to my roof of mouth with a tight jaw week muscels and eyesight since contrast. nobody seems to be able to offer any direction.
I have taken prograf and cellcept for 12 yrs. A month ago I went nito renal failure.The kidney Dr. said it was from the prograf that this happened. The liver Dr.disagrees and is putting me back on prograf lower dose. I have been taking prednisone in the mean time . Kind of worried this will happen again. Anyone else have this problem in the past and what was done about it .

I'm 61 years young and had a full liver transplant 2 1/2 months ago. Prograf levels go from 7 to 13.6 back to 6.5 Could it be the new lab that is screwing up. I take all 52 pills on time dailywith a wonderful hubby making sure.
My current dose is Prograf 3 mg AM/ Prograf 3 mg PM and Rapamune 4 mg AM. The intent is to convert me to 100% Rapamune because of the nephro-toxicity of the Prograf and my young age and because of the anti-cancer properties of Rapamune. Data, while horribly limited, has shown Rapamune's anti-cancer properties have had success against vascular tumors such as mine so EHE, in this case chronic, is part of the cancers Rapamune affects (some cancers it has no effect).
I went into rejection twice in the hospital and because of this my transplant team saw it best to put me on 5mg of prograf twice a day as well as 4 mg of rapimune, which by the way was off label and i had to sign a release form for. Just within the past 2 months they lowerd my dosage of rapimune to 2mg but kept the prograf the same. My question to you is exactly how suppressed is my immune system?
typically prograf doesnt cause thirst although any medication can cause anything in any person
I am 6 years post liver transplant from genotype 3 Hep C. My doctors want to start treatment to clear the virus. I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
Typically very little overlap has to occur with the coversion from prograf to rapa.
My history: liver transplant 1 year ago, had 2 moderate rejections and 1 mild since transplant. At present time having moderate rejection, recently had one portal stent and 8 Bilary ERCP's to remove stones and sludge and had stenting done, and at the present time there are no blockages. Was on Rapamune (5mg a day) prior to hernia surgery and then week before hernia surgery was put on Prograf (4mg a day) and taken off the Rapamune. I have been on Progaf since hernia surgery (8 weeks ago).
I have a chronic dermatitis for last 15 years.going and coming but during the last year it has become worst, I was advised to use topical corticosteroids creams and antihistaminics but still I have terrible itching which awakes me of sleep I just can not sleep which makes me so irritable and my scrotal is red and painfull.I want your advise (Iam out of work for almost a year now)!!
