Avatar f tn i have had generalized anxiety (severe) for 12 yrs. currently only on 5 mg of lexapro only because i couldn't get off the last 5mg. i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa, effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych.
398624 tn?1266269449 Not really sure why he switched me to Lyrica. I read up on it and it didn't seem like what I needed. It says drs. do prescribe it for GAD also tho??? But I didn't start it and I went back to see him today and he put me on Hydroxyzine Pamaote (sp?). He said nothing about tapering off of Ativan. How would you recommend I taper off the Ativan? I take 1mg, 3 times daily. Do I take the new prescription along with it???
1489588 tn?1303998295 My new doctor said they were the same thing and that I should drop Pristiq, which I did for a while with awful results. I went back to the doctor and explained what had been happening since I went off of it. He immediately put me back on it and said that since it was working for me, he could find no research that said that it should not be done, just that it normally wasn't.
1185172 tn?1264284610 Has anyone with pre existing hypertension & fibro tried savella? If so, has your bp spiked at all? I'm afraid to try it for that reason. I took Pristiq for about 4 weeks and my blood pressure which was well under control went out of control, so I had to get off the medicine. I know it works in the same ways, and I know everyone is different, I'm just checking. I previously tried Lyrica & Cymbalta, which both made me feel worse than I did with the Fibro and Fatigue.
Avatar m tn My doctor (who I think is brilliant and I feel very comfortable with) told me he has placed many of his other patients on Pristiq with good results. As I mentioned previously, it is supposed to have very few side effects, if any; but of course every body is different. If you do not trust your doctor, maybe you could get a second opinion.
Avatar f tn Although, my neuro did say that Pristiq would probably help with the fibro symptoms as well and with my headaches. I do have less headaches and feel better mood and concentration wise, but I'm not sure how long I will be able to tolerate not sleeping. I almost hate to stop the pristiq, though, because I really do feel it is helping me....but, maybe there is something better for me.
Avatar f tn I didn't mention that I weaned off Cymbalta 8 months ago. And I was on zoloft for 5 years before that. So I ahve taken my share of AD's. I also have OCD. I am just concerned with going too far into this elavil with my asthma and not being able to use my inhaler. Of course I did not know about this before I started it. And my doctor did not mention anything.
Avatar f tn I have a job and I need to perform compilicated financial calculations on my job. Lyrica, Pristiq, and the latest Lamotrigine--I have to stop after a week because of the terrible brian fog. Help or advice please. Thanks for reading.
Avatar f tn testing the hot spots that go along with fibro. He said I have widespread muscle pain. No duh. Lol! He also surprised me very much. He said, "I do think you've got a touch of Fibro going on, unless it's being caused by your Chiari Malfitmation." I just about fell off my chair when he said that. Lol! Apparently he'd jet read a study a few days prior about the Fibro and Chiari connection, the shared symptoms, the common misdiagnoses. I was so pleasantly surprised.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had severe depression from chronic severe pain which was completely treated with an increase with Effexor. Pristiq is the upgraded version of Effexor and brought my sex drive back. It does give me dreams with conflict, but it has been worth it. Everybody is different with their success and their side effects from anti-depressants. But to have a life again after the severe depression, it is worth so much. Keep trying everyone to get better from your depression.
455167 tn?1259257871 When I got off Pristiq to start a Tri-cyclic (thank god that worked) The withdrawl from the Pristiq was massive. Far worse than with Effexor. 2 solid months of almost vilont withdrawl before that damn drug left my body. Effexor was a cake wak in comparison. I say this not to scare you. but to warn you. That Damn Pristiq get's a lot of advertisment. That doesn't mean it's a quality antidepressant. Maybe it will work for you. It's hard to say unless you try.
Avatar f tn I am not taking Lyrica, I have recently started taking Savella and Pristiq. So far I am quite pleased with the improvements I am feeling. I'm trying to increase my knowledge of vitamins and supplements as ways to counteract the effects of this horrible illness. I'm going to try and combat some of my symptoms using Olive Leaf Extract and various other herbs and vitamins. I refuse to accept the sentence of being forced to take prescription meds for the rest of my life!
Avatar f tn I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?
Avatar f tn Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.
1450085 tn?1298941702 hey everyone, today my psychiatrist switched me from 50mg of Pristiq to 37.5mg of Effexor XR, he said the 50mg of Pristiq was too much, anyone ever done this switch or have experiences on the 37.5mg of Effexor?
Avatar f tn s true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.
Avatar f tn I will warn you (maybe this was just in my case) but the withdrawl I experienced with Pristiq was beyond bad. It lasted for 8 horrible weeks and during the worst part of it even walking was difficult because my head was so swurly. Now keep in mind that I used to take Effexor XR for 4 years at 300Mgs a day. The withdrawl from that was bad, but nothing near what I experienced with Pristiq. Finnaly after 8 weeks the withdrawl faded. I swear I thought I was going to be stuck like that forever.
Avatar f tn Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.
Avatar n tn I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.
Avatar n tn I am a 51 year old female and need to stop pristiq and go back on paxil .
6726276 tn?1421126668 m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.
Avatar f tn just gone on 6 weeks with pristiq feeling shaky inside, tired has anyone else feel shaky inside on this med is this a side effect after all this time or could it be its not working heard it can take up to 8 weeks has anyone taken it this long to work?
Avatar f tn I switched from Prozac to Pristiq when my Prozac pooped out on me after 20 years. I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time.
