I go to the health fair in my town every year. This year I got my tests back, today & am a bit freaked out. ALL my liver enzymes are high. Alkaline Phosphatase, Normal 33-115--- MINE-154 AST, Normal 10-30--- MINE 46 ALT, Normal 6-40--- MINE 134 GGT, Normal 3-55--- MINE 279 I've had a slightly elevated ggt for the past 5/7 years, since I had gallbladder surgery, but not any of the others. I was put on an antibiotic for my first ever UTI the week before my health fair tests...

Last week I told my doctor that life sucked basically, she started me on pristiq. I am into my 5th day. I will persist with them .I feel like I need a quick fix short term till the pristiq kick in. Would I benefit from diazapam or some form of muscle relaxant??

Hi, I was just wondering how alcohol effects antidepressants. I just heard that its bad to drink when taking meds...I'm just wondering why? What happens? And how much do you need to drink for those things to start happening? I've drinken while on Pristiq in past, and had no idea you arent suposed to drink while on these meds. I had plans to tonight...but not so sure now.

My doctor (who I think is brilliant and I feel very comfortable with) told me he has placed many of his other patients on Pristiq with good results. As I mentioned previously, it is supposed to have very few side effects, if any; but of course every body is different. If you do not trust your doctor, maybe you could get a second opinion.

I am going to be taken out of Elavil (afer 2-3 years of use) and treated with Pristiq, but I am not sure at what time I should take it. I am also in Zolpidem, at nightime. Can anybody answer me, I am being reading about the drug' interaction before attemtping to take it.

It works fine for now but I dont want to inherit two habits being drugs and alcohol. Thats doing my head in with arguments with agencies and family whom seem on attack mode. I worry now because of my tolerance to substances. I feel totally imune to all my medication now. I want to take it all and see what happens. Pristiq or even effexor wont kill you providing you get to hospital and take activated charcoal, but dexamphetamine rush, I may wake up dead.

I had severe depression from chronic severe pain which was completely treated with an increase with Effexor. Pristiq is the upgraded version of Effexor and brought my sex drive back. It does give me dreams with conflict, but it has been worth it. Everybody is different with their success and their side effects from anti-depressants. But to have a life again after the severe depression, it is worth so much. Keep trying everyone to get better from your depression.

When I got off Pristiq to start a Tri-cyclic (thank god that worked) The withdrawl from the Pristiq was massive. Far worse than with Effexor. 2 solid months of almost vilont withdrawl before that damn drug left my body. Effexor was a cake wak in comparison. I say this not to scare you. but to warn you. That Damn Pristiq get's a lot of advertisment. That doesn't mean it's a quality antidepressant. Maybe it will work for you. It's hard to say unless you try.

I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?

Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

My only complaint with Pristiq is that at 100Mgs a day dosage I have sexual side effects from it. I am male and it has reduced my sex drive by about 50% which I hate. The side effects of stopping Pristiq are much the same as with Effexor. They can be rough as I once ran out for two days and had withdrawls.

Ever since I was a teenager, my left pupil dilates really big, I am now 32 years old. It does it at random times for no reason, or when I drink alcohol, take OTC medicines, and with my anxiety medicine, Pristiq. It blurs my vision and makes it hard to see out of when it dilates and sometimes causes my headaches. I have an astigmatism in my left eye, as well. I went to an eye doctor and had a thorough check up. He sent me to get a cat scan done and they didn't come up with anything.

hey everyone, today my psychiatrist switched me from 50mg of Pristiq to 37.5mg of Effexor XR, he said the 50mg of Pristiq was too much, anyone ever done this switch or have experiences on the 37.5mg of Effexor?

I have even cut back on the amount of zanex I take during the work week when I freak out. I met with a new psych., and after she found out I drink wine on a regular basis (10 drinks a week) she wants to pull me off of Cymbalta due to the liver implications and the other medication I am on. I do NOT have any liver function problems as my enzymes were tested in the fall when I was on Diltiazam for my BP and my Mitral Valve Prolapse.

s true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.

I will warn you (maybe this was just in my case) but the withdrawl I experienced with Pristiq was beyond bad. It lasted for 8 horrible weeks and during the worst part of it even walking was difficult because my head was so swurly. Now keep in mind that I used to take Effexor XR for 4 years at 300Mgs a day. The withdrawl from that was bad, but nothing near what I experienced with Pristiq. Finnaly after 8 weeks the withdrawl faded. I swear I thought I was going to be stuck like that forever.

Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.

I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

I switched from Prozac to Pristiq when my Prozac pooped out on me after 20 years. I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time.

Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
