Pristiq when to take it

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq when to take it

pristiq

Avatar f tn I was on sertraline for 3+ years but was switch to pristiq and began to take it today. I would like to know what to expect because I tend to panic when I experience any changes in my health. I have also been suffering from allergies for a week and a half and wonder if this will have any effects on the switch.
Avatar m tn I have tried many multi-vitamins in the past and always find that something within them makes my stomach upset. Not sure if it is the iron or zinc but when i take the vitamins like B,C, D and Omegas I feel ok.
603543 tn?1255294450 Im trying to figure out the best time of day to take pristiq....when does everyone take it??? plus what dosage are you on, ive been on 50mg for almost a month and am still feeling sick and tired all the time and not any better...
Avatar f tn Usually they give these meds 6 weeks and if you have'nt started feeling better they may try something else. Some of us need a little longer though. Have you had a dose increase since you started taking it?
1489588 tn?1303998295 When I take Savella and Pristiq together, it works wonders. When both my pain dr and my psychiatrist got together and said I couldn't take them together, I became very depressed after getting off of Savella. I didn't want to kill myself, but I sure didn't want to live. Lyrica put me to sleep in horrible ways, Cymbalta doesn't work for me and anything like Prozac or Lexapro or Zoloft is candy to me. I also take Norco.
Avatar f tn Primary docs aren't very good at this. Psychiatrists are better, though only a good one. This can be a difficult med to quit, so the plan is to go as slowly as suits you -- what it's like for one isn't the same as for another person. It could be really easy, could be difficult. Partly it depends on how long you've been on it and how well your body metabolized it. Just prepare to take it slow and easy, taper off and don't let docs rush you or pretend it's easy.
Avatar n tn They have the same active metobolite (which is thought to have the beneficial effects) but Pristiq has succinate salt added to it which allows for a predictable concentration of the medication. What all this means is that most patients will be able to stay at the starting dose of 50 mg with very good results. There have been very low incidences of side effects, little to no weight gain and sexual side effecfts don't seem to be an issue either.
Avatar n tn I take Pristiq,Ablify and Wellbution. Is there one pill to help with all three of my problems?
1450085 tn?1298941702 I went through a similar thing switching from Lexapro to Celexa, which have a similar relationship to one another as Pristiq to Effexor, but for me it was because Lexapro wasn't working well and I have problems from going off a different med, but normally they're considered to be so similar you don't move from one to another.
Avatar n tn I think it would be a good idea to talk to your Dr about this. You may or may not need to taper off the Pristiq. I know this is your question but I'm really not sure. Both of these meds are antidepressants but in different categories. Sometimes the drug companies will help with your meds. You would have to fill out paper work and they would go by your income. You might be able to get a very reduced rate or even possibly get it for free. Check out the manufacturer of Pristiq's web sire.
Avatar f tn I had that with effexor and pristiq in the past. My doc told me brintelix wouldnt be suppose to give me that when she prescribed it to me. So im asking, could this be cause by the new med or from the quitting of zoloft! Im scared to make an heart attack or something! I just dont kow what to do cause it scares me a lot! Suppose to see my doctor again this thursday but i wonder if i should go before! Sorry for my english...Im french!
Avatar f tn I have 23 Effexor pills from a May script, from switching to Pristiq. Is it safe to take the Effexor to get me by? I have to do something. I feel that I am crashing and burning and cannot stop crying. I just want to know if it is safe. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn Thank you Sara for your reply. I appreciate it! I've been on it (Pristiq 50mg) for 4.5 weeks and not where I want to be yet. I see Pdoc Friday. Thanks again!
Avatar f tn I know that the discontinuation of antidepressants is meant to be a gradual process, but I had no choice but to abruptly stop mine. Is it normal for depression to return almost immediately? I was able to schedule an appointment with my doctor for this week seeing as all of my phone calls have been ignored, but I am worried he is going to feel I am exaggerating about the severity of my depression. As I said, I am surprised by the sudden intensity.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
Avatar f tn Both meds can be very stimulating, take a few weeks to take effect, but can have side effects immediately. Pristiq can be very hard to stop taking if taken for awhile. Don't self-medicate. If it's an emergency, go to the ER. If it's not, it will pass. If you're not having fun, do something fun. There is no "supposed to be" in emotional life, there just is.
Avatar m tn s what uppers do to people who suffer anxiety. Pristiq is also a very stimulating antidepressant, as it targets adrenaline, so you've got two drugs stimulating you. It worked for awhile and it may again, but right now as you've internalized the added stress as you've just been covering it up with medication and never solved the underlying problem, sometimes the medication just won't be able to keep up.
Avatar f tn im currently taking pristig it is effxor a new version my doctor says since now effoxoer is noe becoming available as a generic he says it is the same thing just refined im not currently having any problems a few side effects at first but what ever u do take it at the same time dont forget it will make you sick im only taking 50 mg and i take it around 11 or 12 cause when it wears off it makes me nasaous but now im getting ready for bed and it usually does not get to bad anymore
Avatar m tn I have to take meds, and finally after 3 years, depression is controlled somewhat, but still have times when it is so bad. I dake to bed for days at a time.My My switched me from Effexor Xr to Pristiq. I was on a month but had to go back to severe headaches. Once back on Effexor , headaches went with the Pristiq.
759115 tn?1256997490 I've just been prescribed Pristiq and just took my first daily dose (50mg). I tried a couple of antidepressants (including Lexapro) but almost felt more iritable taking them then not taking them. I will keep you posted with how Pristiq works out but it can take up to 6 wks before it really kicks in, Im told. Eh, we'll see.
Avatar f tn If that is something you think you can do then go to your doctor and talk to them. Since it is working for you, maybe you can stick with it.
606378 tn?1297304964 I was put on Pristiq last week. I took it for four days and had to stop. I don't want to discourage you from the medicine, but it was not for me. It made me even more exhausted, restless, and extremely panicky. The bad thing about all of these anti-depressants is that you just don't know how your body is going to react to them. Everyone is different and has different reactions this was just my experience. I know it is so frustrating trying to find a medicine your body can handle.
Avatar m tn So I would assume that the withdrawal would be similar. I would get back on it ASAP, and if you want to quit taking it, do so very gradually under a doctors advice.
Avatar f tn An as immediate relief from a panic attack, Klonopin or Xanax may be helpful to you (to take as needed when you are faced with that situation).
