does pristiq treat anxiety

if pristiq is used to treat major depression, and that not me...how will it help my anxiety? i dont quite understand how antidep help anxiety in the first place. arent they suppose to "lift you up". i need to be calm! i just dont want the pristiq to have an opposite effect on me since im not majorly depressed....

I’m on 75 mg Pristiq and have a lot of anxiety. Would 100 or 150 mg help with anxiety?

Mum is 78 has very high anxiety, (probably due to early dementia). Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.

I have been through every ssri in the past 20 years. I am now on pristiq 75mg and lamictal 300 mg in addition to Ativan as needed. My anxiety is coming back unfortunately. My psychiatrist wants me to take gabapentin. It seems like she is just guessing at this point. Any suggestions? I know we are not doctors but I figure someone may be going through something similar. I think you already saw a doctor for all this since you are taking Klonopin which is used to treat anxiety and Pristiq which is used to treat depression. It is normal to be feeling like this when starting the treatment. May i ask you how long you have been taking those meds? It can take up to 1 months before you can see the benefits.

I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time. I've heard of people going up to 400ml.

i have been taking Pristiq for a week and my period is late is this common?

Yeah i know cymbalta isnt a SSRI its jus that use both word so often that when im typin fast i might confuse them, you are right and it's a SNRIS ( serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor ) sorry for the confusion it may have lead to. But thanks for corecting me it's really important to me to be always right when talking about meds.

n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I would like help plzz..im scared..

s another possibility. Adding drugs can help with symptoms but it does add side effects. Pristiq is a stimulating antidepressant, so by itself it doesn't have as many problems such as this one as does say the SSRIs. So, two possibilities. Your depression isn't actually in check because lack of motivation and low energy are prime symptoms of depression.

Have you ever been on an anti anxiety med before? I'm kind of surprised your Dr would have you on Pristiq alone for anxiety if you don't have depression. It's true that antidepressant meds can help with anxiety but Pristiq is usually prescribed along with an antidepressant if it's not helping much. Can you get in to see your Dr to talk about getting off the Pristiq and getting on an anti anxiety med?

yea the doctor gave me lexapro so I start taking that today...but it feels weird...does anxiety make u feel like ur falling but ur really not right??? And I get like song melodys in my head like all day..is that anxiety??

I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!

I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. Well he also gave me Xanax to take. I have only taken it a few times, I took Zoloft a while back and couldn't handle the side effects so I went back and he put me on Effexor. I have been more shaky and anxious and upset stomach... the same thing happened on the Zoloft. I don't want to be on this med any longer bcus of the bad experience I had with the Zoloft. I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.

hylands restless legs is for restless leg syndrome,that feeling you get in your legs like you gotta move them all the time when you are at rest,like something is crawling under your skin and you just gotta move,how long have you been taking pristiq? if I'm not mistake it is an antidepressant isn't it? Pristiq is my miracle drug. I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.

Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.

And I should add, though anti-depressants such as pristiq aren't technically addictive, they can be hard to quit for many people. That's why I say, if you need them you need them, but if you don't, you don't.
