My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
I am trying to come off of Pristiq slowly tapering! I just feel so sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a nightmare I want to just cry i'm miserable! I have heart palpitations I'm very nauseas anyone else get this way? How long will this take to go away I can't go on like this. I am doing 50mg every other day i'mg oing to do this for a few weeks then try and break them in half being that 50 is the lowest dose. I want to feel better. It is also making me think crazy things...
Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Pristiq is not the only antidepressant out there. You have many to choose from if you do need them. If it were me, I would talk to my Dr first before I quit taking them. He might suggest a tapering program. Pristiq is one of the meds I have never taken so I really don't know that much about it. I do know that I've had to wean off of other antidepressants to keep from going through withdrawal.
But I think this drug is more like an ssri than an snri, which is what effexor and pristiq are. Keep in mind effexor and pristiq are almost identical drugs, with pristiq just eliminating some of the molecules in order hopefully to reduce side effects but mostly to get new patent protection. It's like Celexa and Lexapro. This class of drugs is stimulating as it targets norepinephrine as well as serotonin, and is usually not used for primary anxiety as a result.
I started taking 50mg of Pristiq about a year ago because I was feeling extremely depressed and angry at the same time. It really did help me with both issues but at the same time, I felt so relaxed and layed back that I wasn't dealing with things the way they should have been dealt with. I felt like I became a very passive person and anyone who knows me knows I don't allow people to walk all over me. But on this medicine, it was like I just didn't care.
I came off Lexapro 20mg (was not working anymore) and my doctor put me on Pristiq 50mg and xanax. The pristiq is working good but after a couple of months now I am not so sure. I take the Xanax at night because it helps me sleep.
I am a 45 year old male and suffer from GAD and mild deppresion. Should I try something stronger or seek therapy or what? Has anyone else experienced this or on Pristiq? I feel like I am sputtering out here. Any help very much appreciated.
I was tapering off paxil because it stopped working after almost ten years the doctor stated me on zoloft an after two and a half weeks I started having the worst panic attacks. the doctoc said it was to stimulating. dose anyone have any suggestions on what will help for bad anxiety ???
I am an emotional disaster right now and physically ill from this I am currently tapering off of the SNRI Pristiq I was on it for anxiety/panic. I am having such terrible withdrawals emotionally and physically every symptom you can possibly name I have. I don't know what to do with myself anymore or how I will get through this. Please HELP.

Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I would like help plzz..im scared..
Hi- I am currently withdrawing from Effexor, which I was given to taper off Pristiq. Because Pristiq comes in the 50mg dose, there is no good way to come off it. It is essentially the same as Effexor, which is notoriously hard to withdraw from. My psych said that 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. If you jumped from this dose or higher, I would expect to have withdrawal for at least 3 weeks, maybe longer.
At least you will probably have depression and anxiety.
Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.
I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?
ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.
ve read bc of the short half life of Pristiq, this basically causes you start the withdrawal process from day 1 again on the days you are skipping a dose so it's a waste of time. I've also read that cutting an extended release pill in half isn't really as bad as people make it sound and that this approach is more effective.
There is no way for me to take off sick at work if I get really bad withdrawal so I want to get as much info as I can before attempting this.
I am a 51 year old female and need to stop pristiq and go back on paxil .
