1, is pristiq even used for anxiety? i went on the website and read NOTHING that said GAD/panic.
2. my doc said i can just cut my klonopin dosage back to .25 mg am/pm today. no need to taper down since its only been 2 weeks? im not too sure about that? should i just taper down anyways, and if so how do i do it?

I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.
They have the same active metobolite (which is thought to have the beneficial effects) but Pristiq has succinate salt added to it which allows for a predictable concentration of the medication. What all this means is that most patients will be able to stay at the starting dose of 50 mg with very good results. There have been very low incidences of side effects, little to no weight gain and sexual side effecfts don't seem to be an issue either.
m glad it worked good for me for a while but than for me my head hurt all the time and then I never was able to sleep, so she put me on tradozone, I don't know when you take it ..at night it was best for me with a bottle of water. In 3 weeks i'm going to start lexipro I hope that works for me. There are side effects to watch out for google pristiq and do some reading about it that is how I learned alot about this medication. Hi there! I started taking an antidepressant (Pristiq) after I quit pain pills. I was extremely depressed. I truly believe that it was the pain pills that directly contributed to my depression. I'm still taking the Pristiq, and it has helped tremendously. All the best to you!
Have you had a dose increase since you started taking it?
I am wondering if anyone can help. I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!
I've been on Pristiq. My GP gave it to me. I've been on it for about 6 months and it's fine for me. It's most effective dose is 50mg, which is equivalant to 150mg Effexor XR I was told. My psychiatrist switched me to Effexor because he says they are the same and I am tapering off. I did NOT gain weight on Pristiq and I think the sexual side effects weren't as bad. I can tell the difference on Effexor.

i was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and severe depression but the dr. wasnt 100% sure if i was or was not bi polar one...so she prescribed me 50 mg pristiq and 25 mg lamictal. she told me if i was in fact bi polar that the pristiq would make me go totally manic.
just 3 days in and i am totally manic. totally completely it is scary. unless i am doing something at all times i am losing it.
I gained alot of weight like 20 pounds. but worse than that I had heart beat irregularity from it. I guess I'm allergic or something. so be careful and watch your body for signs that something just isn't right.
I am taking pristiq for awhile now and my depression is still very strong and the fatigue is very hard to do more and get up in the morning until near lunch.
Can I or should I go up to a higher dose of the pristiq? will it help?
I know that the discontinuation of antidepressants is meant to be a gradual process, but I had no choice but to abruptly stop mine. Is it normal for depression to return almost immediately? I was able to schedule an appointment with my doctor for this week seeing as all of my phone calls have been ignored, but I am worried he is going to feel I am exaggerating about the severity of my depression. As I said, I am surprised by the sudden intensity.
on Monday,Sept 5th had an appoitment with Psychiatrist, and after i explained her my symptons,( i also cried,was overwhelmed) she said I had a severe depression, so she also prescribed me Pristiq 50mg one tablet per day in the morning after breakfast. I never took the Pristiq i am scared of the side effects,So all this time since September 3rd until ,now October 13th, I've been only on Clonazepan,I am scared of becoming an addict as I have read these pills tend to be addictive.
My gp did not even look at my mouth and that was one of my major concerns as I have had undiagnosed mouth,neck and throat probs for years...I asked for a referal but she put that on the back burner. Depression follow up first... I don't really like the idea of taking anti depressants.
I took Pristiq for a few months and it didn't do much for me (but, you know, different meds work for different people).
My biggest complaint was actually coming off of the Pristiq. I had brain zaps for almost a month afterward (and this was with tapering off) to the point that I was getting nauseated because my vision would blur. I didn't have any side effects while I was on it (other than it doing...nothing).
within a few days i could feel the depression lift and did ok for a few months. then i crashed into another depression for no real reason. increasing the dose did'nt help.i was taken off and put on wellbutrion and seroquel and decreased the lexapro to 10mgs. i'm feeling somewhat better. but i don't like the seroquel. and really don't know why i was put on it.
If an elderly person is on SSRI for depression and it isn't helping and she is becoming more angry, agitated, since the med.
