pristiq

Avatar f tn Hi Im a 28 yr old female just had a baby 4 months ago i started takin pristiq 50 mg in September because i fell into bad postpartum depression and suffered horrible anxiety my whole pregnancy.. After taking it I started feling okay I think it was more me wanting to feel better.
Avatar f tn t really doing much for me so my doctor got to to cut down and go on to pristiq, while I was cutting down the paxil my partner and I decided to TTC, I ask the doctor if I should still start pristiq but she told me not to as Pristiq is harmful during pregnancy. However it may be more harmful for you to stop taking it, especially if it will mess with your head whether your taking it for anxiety or depression.
Avatar f tn Well I was on celexa then switched to zoloft then switched to pristiq...all in a time frame of a year and half. I been taking the pristiq 3 weeks now went on it straight from zoloft. I was taking it for anxiety/panic. I did a good tapering plan I am doing it very slowly now. i tried doing it cold turkey and I thought my life was over. I spoke with the doctor and said ti was ok to do it that way. I just am so afraid whenever I stop to feel this way!
759115 tn?1256997490 I've just been prescribed Pristiq and just took my first daily dose (50mg). I tried a couple of antidepressants (including Lexapro) but almost felt more iritable taking them then not taking them. I will keep you posted with how Pristiq works out but it can take up to 6 wks before it really kicks in, Im told. Eh, we'll see.
Avatar f tn Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
1450085 tn?1298941702 hey everyone, today my psychiatrist switched me from 50mg of Pristiq to 37.5mg of Effexor XR, he said the 50mg of Pristiq was too much, anyone ever done this switch or have experiences on the 37.5mg of Effexor?
606378 tn?1297304964 Does anyone know anything about pristiq? I was looking to see if anyone has had any experience with this medication or if anyone knows anything about it.

Avatar f tn Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.
Avatar f tn I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?
6726276 tn?1421126668 m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
Avatar f tn ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.
Avatar n tn I went to my psychiatrist today and told him of my episode of missing effexor dose and he said that it was from the effexor, I was just 7 hours late and wound up in ER from symtoms listed in my first post. So he wants me to switch to pristiq, which I have never taken. I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs.
Avatar n tn I am a 51 year old female and need to stop pristiq and go back on paxil .
Avatar f tn If you're doing well on Effexor, I don't see any reason to switch. I've never been on Pristiq, but side effects when taking PRISTIQ 50 mg may include nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite. In clinical studies of the recommended 50-mg dose, the percentage of people who stopped taking PRISTIQ due to side effects was similar to placebo (sugar pill).
603543 tn?1255294450 Ive developed headaches and am severly tired...Ive been off the pristiq for three weeks....should i have tapered off the pristiq first even though they are suppose to be the same??? help please i dont know what to do and i cant take it anymore...
Avatar m tn I recently switched from Pristiq to Effexor XR in order to taper down. 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. I found Pristiq did not cause as much low libido as Effexor has for me. I also didn't gain weight on it. Same might be true for Effexor for me (who knows?). I gained weight on Celexa and felt significantly more blunted emotionally by it.
Avatar f tn I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.
Avatar f tn Can you get in to see your Dr to talk about getting off the Pristiq and getting on an anti anxiety med? Just my opinion, but it sounds like that's what you need and not the Pristiq.
Avatar n tn Another alternative that I have found even more effective is Pristiq. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor and is almost identical in every way. I found relief with Effexor for several years, but now that I am taking Pristiq I have found it to be even more effective than Effexor. I like the Pristiq better because it seems to work faster and doesn't cause the constipation that Effexor can often cause.
Avatar n tn I went to the pdoc and told him I was interested in trying the new Pristiq, he said it was longer lasting, which is a good thing in my book, but he said thats all he knows about the drug, I was stunned he didnt know any other information!!! So he told me to just stop taking my Effexor xr of .75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .
Avatar n tn When Norephinepherine depletion in the brain is a key contributor to your severe depression, Effexor and Pristiq can work wonders to getting you productive and back in remission. There is a reason Effexor XR makes 3.5 Billion a year in sales per year.... Because it flat out WORKS many times for people that fail on SSRI's. Sorry, but I must defend Effexor XR. Yes it can be a heavy hitter, but when the depression gets real bad it can often be just the ticket to remission.
Avatar m tn I also have been taking Pristiq. Been about 5 months now at 100Mgs a day. I'm not so keen on this Pristiq. Like Morningside, I just never really got any measurable anti-depressant effect from it. My Pdoc added Lithium and Lamictal to the Pristiq and that is helping a little, but I'm still not sold on this Pristiq. In the past I did better on Effexor and other AD's like Lexapro.
