1, is pristiq even used for anxiety? i went on the website and read NOTHING that said GAD/panic. 2. my doc said i can just cut my klonopin dosage back to .25 mg am/pm today. no need to taper down since its only been 2 weeks? im not too sure about that? should i just taper down anyways, and if so how do i do it? thanks for any help!

I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.

my psychiatrist said the 50mg of Pristiq was too strong for me, so essentially he wanted to keep me on the 'same' medication but at a lower dose.

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

m taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual. I was just curious as to anyone elses experience with such a change, good or bad.

I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.

I was on a higher than normal dosage of Pristiq for about 8 months. Even at 100Mgs a day (that's high for Pristiq) I never did get full relief from my depression or anxiety. Granted my depression is severe, but this Pristiq just failed to help it. It's called Panvenlafaxine (kind of a sister drug to Effexor) and the two drugs have much the same structure. At one time Effexor at high dosage did help me a lot, but this Pristiq never did a damn thing to help me.

Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.

ve been on pristiq and ativan for a Month now for anxiety and panic attacks. Neither seem to help but I am giving it another month just because I have been in very stressful situations lately that just might be too overwhelming for the medication to help.

I've been on Pristiq. My GP gave it to me. I've been on it for about 6 months and it's fine for me. It's most effective dose is 50mg, which is equivalant to 150mg Effexor XR I was told. My psychiatrist switched me to Effexor because he says they are the same and I am tapering off. I did NOT gain weight on Pristiq and I think the sexual side effects weren't as bad. I can tell the difference on Effexor.

ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.

5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.

Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?

I was on effexor for about 6 months. After gaining 30 pounds I ask my doctor if I could try something else. He put me on Pristiq and so far it's doing fine. I've been on it for about three weeks and I've already lost 8 pounds.

I am wondering if anyone can help. I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I took Pristiq for a few months and it didn't do much for me (but, you know, different meds work for different people). My biggest complaint was actually coming off of the Pristiq. I had brain zaps for almost a month afterward (and this was with tapering off) to the point that I was getting nauseated because my vision would blur. I didn't have any side effects while I was on it (other than it doing...nothing).

No doctor here, that's on the mental health forum, but there's no equivalency between medications really, you never know how they're going to affect you or if they're going to work at all. Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri.

They have the same active metobolite (which is thought to have the beneficial effects) but Pristiq has succinate salt added to it which allows for a predictable concentration of the medication. What all this means is that most patients will be able to stay at the starting dose of 50 mg with very good results. There have been very low incidences of side effects, little to no weight gain and sexual side effecfts don't seem to be an issue either.

Pristiq is not a first choice of doctors for an anti-depressant, but perhaps your doctor has a reason for you taking it. Or perhaps you have tried other anti-depressants that haven't worked. Effexor was the anti-depressant that worked for me out of the several that I tried. (I never tried a lot of them). Pristiq is a newer upgraded version of it. So I am also taking 50 mg of Pristiq because it restored my sex drive after taking Effexor for many years.
