I have taken Lexapro and Pristiq for anxiety purposes. For me, Lexapro did not work, but I currently am on Pristiq and it has done wonders for me. Also, are you in therapy? Because medication and therapy combined is proven to be one of the best treatments. Medication lessens your symptoms of anxiety, while therapy gets to the root of the problem and helps build you up so you can learn to cope and be a stronger and happier person. Thank you so much for responding. Physically all is well. My pdoc thinks it’s bipolar 2 but I don’t get manic. I have pretty much all the anxieties(social, health, generalized etc) she doesn’t want to go higher in the pristiq or lamictal just add another drug. Feel like a guinea pig sometimes. And I think you are right about the depression. Thanks again.

i have been taking Pristiq for a week and my period is late is this common?

Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!

Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.

Have you ever been on an anti anxiety med before? I'm kind of surprised your Dr would have you on Pristiq alone for anxiety if you don't have depression. It's true that antidepressant meds can help with anxiety but Pristiq is usually prescribed along with an antidepressant if it's not helping much. Can you get in to see your Dr to talk about getting off the Pristiq and getting on an anti anxiety med?

Hi everybody. I have suffered from SEVERE emetophobia and social anxiety for about four years now. My biggest fear is vomiting and/or having a panic attack in front of my friends or people that know me. In the beginning, I used to be able to "control" my vomiting, I just felt nauseous and anxious when being social, but now it is at the point where every time I do something social I will vomit. I have been on 100 mg of Pristiq for almost 6 months now, and it has helped somewhat.

I was on Pristiq for about 5 months. I absolutely loved it when I was on it. I was a bit dizzy when I first started taking it, but that went away in no time. I am also on Wellbutrin. My therapist and group therapist find it funny when I talk about how much I love my medicine. I know it sounds weird but to see how I was before taking it and to see how I was just weeks after made a huge difference!

I'm on week 3 of Pristiq after Cymbalta pooped out on me after 5 successful yrs on it. First tried to switch me to Zoloft and that made me worse (February 2014). Until 3 weeks ago, they tried to add things to the Cymbakta (Abilify, buspar) but it wasn't working (for deoression/anxiety). 3 weeks ago to Pristiq 50mg.

Hello Bambi, I am interested to know whether you're still taking Pristique and if you found it helpful for Social Anxiety Disorder. How long did you take that pill? I have been taking it for the last month for SAD and am not sure yet if it is working for me.

i have been on pristiq for a year now it was working really well for me but now i am having withdrawl symtons even though i am still taking 100mg a day. i feel dizzy around the time it is to take another dose. has anyone else felt this while taking this medication?

are beta blockers not an option for you? They are used for fast heart rates, but also for anxiety. It might be inappropriate for what you have, but just asking.

And I should add, though anti-depressants such as pristiq aren't technically addictive, they can be hard to quit for many people. That's why I say, if you need them you need them, but if you don't, you don't.

Not having taken Pristiq personally, I couldn't say for sure, but it sounds like maybe you're a bit under the weather, and having increased anxiety from the withdrawal as well. You're still taking the Klonopin on schedule, I assume? I wouldn't worry much. Like Greenlydia said, you could always ring the local pharmacist, though to be honest, as much schooling as they get, they probably won't know much more.

ve been on pristiq and ativan for a Month now for anxiety and panic attacks. Neither seem to help but I am giving it another month just because I have been in very stressful situations lately that just might be too overwhelming for the medication to help.

i Started taking Lexapro, that did not work...so I took Pristiq. For a couple months I called it my miracle drug becuase it seriously reduced my anxiety. Because I felt as if my anxiety was taken care of, I decided to tackle my depression problem but doubling my pristiq dosage and start taking Welbutrin. All of a sudden my anxiety started increasing again, so after about 2 months I stopped Welbutrin...and here we are months later and my anxiety is getting worse and worse.

When I first started taking medication for anxiety and depression, I took Effexor. Over aobut 2 months, I gradually felt better. My doctor prescribed Valium along with the Effexor until the med kicked in and we got the dose set. Having both worked very well for me. As the Effexor kicked in we weaned off the Valium. I took Effexor 75 mg for three years with very good results (I promise I will get to Prisiq soon.

m glad it worked good for me for a while but than for me my head hurt all the time and then I never was able to sleep, so she put me on tradozone, I don't know when you take it ..at night it was best for me with a bottle of water. In 3 weeks i'm going to start lexipro I hope that works for me. There are side effects to watch out for google pristiq and do some reading about it that is how I learned alot about this medication. When I first started medication Paxil Cr was perfect for me! I no longer had any anxiety! i took it for about a year and then got off it because one side effect was increased appetite and I gained like 20+ pounds. So I then went to Effexor, Lexapro, Remron, and I am now on Pristiq. SO far the prestiq has helped my depression. I got severely depressed a few months back because I was not doing anything. I would just lay in my room all day because of the fear of my panic attacks.

I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say, "hello", but I also have a question and a few comments. I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!

hey man,u just take pristiq 100mg and it will do well for u..when i started taking pristiq 50mg i experience mood swings but pristiq 100mg is doing well for me....it has least side effects....

I started taking antidepressants about 3 years ago for anxiety and panic attacks. I had tried two in the past before that (Paxil and lexapro) i was a teen and it made me have what i know now is anxiety. I have a problem with change. I moved in 2002, in 2003 I had my first Panic attack, going to the ER. My old Dr put me on (paxil and lexapro) without telling me anything but they are made for panic disorder.

Hey guys I've been on klonopin for like 9 months and pristiq...I take half of a tablet of klonopin in the morning and another half later in the day like @ 7 p.m....and then I take 2 pristiq pills at night be4 I sleep....so ever since christmas I haven't taken pristiq cuz my insurance doesn't cover it..
