Pristiq for sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq for sleep

pristiq

Avatar f tn The medicine I'm on is making it hard for me to get to sleep at night. I fall asleep, but not as easily as I should and then I never reach a very deep sleep. It's like I'm always aware of what's going on through the night-in a very light sleep. Then I'll toss and turn most of the night. Does anyone have any non medication suggestions for sleeping better? I tried Lavender oil last night (On my pillow) and I actually think it helped a little. Any other ideas?
Avatar f tn hi, I find I am just so exhausted a lot of the time to a point where I have to make a conscious sfort to drop my shoulders. I feel so tense all the time...I have always fought sleep but when I do sleep I have quality sleep. My mind is always racing and does'nt like to call it quits. I self medicate also. It makes me slow down..Last week I told my doctor that life sucked basically, she started me on pristiq. I am into my 5th day. I will persist with them .
Avatar f tn 1, is pristiq even used for anxiety? i went on the website and read NOTHING that said GAD/panic. 2. my doc said i can just cut my klonopin dosage back to .25 mg am/pm today. no need to taper down since its only been 2 weeks? im not too sure about that? should i just taper down anyways, and if so how do i do it? thanks for any help!
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Pristiq but i found out it was going to cost be around 140.00 for the prescription. I wanted to know if it was worth paying this much for?
Avatar n tn I take Pristiq in the mornings, becuase I found out that the later in the day I took it, the harder it was for me to get a good sleep and I used to have really bizzare but horrible dreams if I took it too close to bedtime.
603543 tn?1255294450 hey man,u just take pristiq 100mg and it will do well for u..when i started taking pristiq 50mg i experience mood swings but pristiq 100mg is doing well for me....it has least side effects....
506273 tn?1260138781 Pristiq is not a first choice of doctors for an anti-depressant, but perhaps your doctor has a reason for you taking it. Or perhaps you have tried other anti-depressants that haven't worked. Effexor was the anti-depressant that worked for me out of the several that I tried. (I never tried a lot of them). Pristiq is a newer upgraded version of it. So I am also taking 50 mg of Pristiq because it restored my sex drive after taking Effexor for many years.
Avatar n tn I have been taking the pristiq now for over 3 months, and this is the newest add to my list (klonipin next newest at a little over 4 months -- the rest have been years.) I have just recently started getting these odd shocky type feelings through my arms, legs, sides, neck ... I really don't know how to describe tem, it's not quite electrical, but it's a good analogy. sometimes it almost just feels as if I can physically feel my blood moving through my veins.
Avatar f tn I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.
Avatar f tn There may be disagreement but in the absence of sleep apnea, I would focus on the lorazepam for sleep. It is always better to sleep and safer to take a medication to sleep than not sleep. If mainly anxiety, followed by insomnia, then daytime fatigue, inability to concentrate, increased anxiety and stress from a non focused mind, and a broadening gap between your ideal self and where you are, then reevaluate.
Avatar f tn m glad it worked good for me for a while but than for me my head hurt all the time and then I never was able to sleep, so she put me on tradozone, I don't know when you take it ..at night it was best for me with a bottle of water. In 3 weeks i'm going to start lexipro I hope that works for me. There are side effects to watch out for google pristiq and do some reading about it that is how I learned alot about this medication. Hope this works for you. Write back soon!

Avatar m tn My doctor has switched my medication from effexor to pristiq and I'm wondering about the withdrawals I'm going to experience ?I was on effexor for about 2 yrs . I also deal with sleep apnea and started using a mouth piece for it . I'm experiencing extreme fatigue more than usual .I don't know if this is a result from switching medications ? If u can me with this I'd really be grateful thanks !
Avatar f tn She told me to stop taking the effexor (which scared me, I know there are horrible withdrawl symptoms because I have experienced them when I would miss my meds.) She put me on Pristiq and Klonopin for when I have a panic attack. Yesterday I took the Pristiq and not the Effexor and when I need the Klonopin (I needed it twice) I took it. When I went to bed at night I was ok..I slept until 3am woke up for a little while and went back to sleep.
1326513 tn?1276518001 I'm a bit surprised your doc didn't give the pristiq a bit more time to work, but he no doubt had reason for doing so. Remember, you are 'coming down' from a period of 'high anxiety' so you naturally will feel the way you do. Also the medication is getting into your system and more often then not symptoms like you are now having will taper off and go away shortly. if they get too severe then call the doc right away.
Avatar f tn I am taking pristiq for awhile now and my depression is still very strong and the fatigue is very hard to do more and get up in the morning until near lunch. Can I or should I go up to a higher dose of the pristiq? will it help?
1489588 tn?1303998295 I also take Norco. But I WANT to take Savella and Pristiq together because FOR ME it works...why do they say I can't???? I am calling my psychiatrist today, cause I cannot take this feeling anymore. I've taken pretty much everything. I've not taken mobic, I have a friend that says it is good, but she doesn't have depression. I also hold down a full time job. Thank you and you all have a blessed day.
324184 tn?1308076203 My partner has just stopped taking Cymbalta (60 mg after 3 + years) and started taking Pristiq (50 mg). She has been on it for 6 days and she has had diarrhea and vomiting for 3 out of those 6 days. Has anyone experienced these types of side effects on Pristiq? I know everyone is different and we're hoping that her body will adjust to it and start working. I'm also wondering if she is sick due to abruptly stopping the Cymbalta (her dr.
Avatar f tn Hi. Pristiq is usually prescribed for people who haven't done well on other medications, so I feel it's worth a try. Unfortunately it is trial and error as to which drug will work best for us, but once we find the right one....it's well worth it! I think therapy will do you a lot of good, but it can be a lengthy process and the medication will help during this time. If therapy doesn't help much you will already be on medication to ease your symptoms.
Avatar m tn I took Pristiq for a few months and it didn't do much for me (but, you know, different meds work for different people). My biggest complaint was actually coming off of the Pristiq. I had brain zaps for almost a month afterward (and this was with tapering off) to the point that I was getting nauseated because my vision would blur. I didn't have any side effects while I was on it (other than it doing...nothing).
Avatar f tn So, the good news and something to be celebrated is that your depression is under control! That's great. Who prescribes these for you? Cocktailing medication is pretty much the norm these days. Example, my son takes prozac but also buspar to help further with his anxiety. He was on a mood stabilizer for a bit as well but no longer. But this is something I'd only allow a psychiatrist to suggest for you and work to get the best combination. Lack of energy is frustrating.
Avatar n tn He also gave me clorazepate (which just puts me to sleep and nausea). I hate combining drugs, can you believe that? Any input about the Pristiq would be appreciated.
1450085 tn?1298941702 my psychiatrist said the 50mg of Pristiq was too strong for me, so essentially he wanted to keep me on the 'same' medication but at a lower dose.
Avatar f tn L-tyrosine is a precursor for the stimulatory neurotransmitters noradrenaline & dopamine & pristiq is a noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor. Aderall also inhibits noradrenaline & dopamine reuptake. By adding l-tyrosine there is a theoretical risk of overstimulation. There are no case reports of tyrosine overload, (by contrast with the risk of serotonin syndrome from too much serotonin) which suggests that the body self regulates the amount in circulation to some extent.
6726276 tn?1421126668 m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.
