Hey guys I've been on 0.5mg klonopin n pristiq...I take klonopin morning n afternoon..n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I would like help plzz..im scared..
m assuming that you have a competent psychiatrist, who has placed you on Pristiq and told you to reduce your dosage of Klonopin without a gradual reduction, for a particular reason(s).
Don't overthink everything, just follow the advice of your provider.

Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.
She told me to stop taking the effexor (which scared me, I know there are horrible withdrawl symptoms because I have experienced them when I would miss my meds.) She put me on Pristiq and Klonopin for when I have a panic attack. Yesterday I took the Pristiq and not the Effexor and when I need the Klonopin (I needed it twice) I took it. When I went to bed at night I was ok..I slept until 3am woke up for a little while and went back to sleep.
Since July we have tried 2 of those, Pristiq and Zoloft. Pristiq was doing ok until I started having increased anxiety and some of my fingers were jumping. I came off and started on Zoloft. Zoloft caused me to wake up early each morning with horrible anxiety and my stomach in knots and I literally felt like I was shaking on the inside. It was a horrible few weeks. My doc decided to put me back on Celexa.
Anyway despite that I was taking 2 Klonopin each day for almost a year and was able to cut it down to only 1. Then eventually was able to do half a day then eventually not take any for a few days. Well I can go about 4 or 5 days at most without taking any now and be ok and try to fight the panic. After those days are up I think some crazy thought that my body needs it so i go and take it. I want to just stop them and take whenever I need them or do I try and take ativan instead?
I am taking Pristiq and not sure if it helps or not. I was taking Eflexor 225 mg daily and this pristiq is only 50 mg. The withdrawal from Eflexor was terrible. Had nightmares and felt like I was fading away while trying to fall asleep. What does low magnesium have to do with depression? Never heard of that before. Can you get this over the counter?
t have my psychiatrist anymore) has decided to ADD Pristiq to my Wellbutrin, and in 3 months wants to wean me off my klonopin. She seems to really be against the klonopin, she has attempted to take me off that before with Seroquel, but the Seroquel had side affects I didn't like so stopped it, and stayed on the klonopin.
I am concerned about the Pristiq. Is it going to cause sexual side affects?
hylands restless legs is for restless leg syndrome,that feeling you get in your legs like you gotta move them all the time when you are at rest,like something is crawling under your skin and you just gotta move,how long have you been taking pristiq? if I'm not mistake it is an antidepressant isn't it? Does your doctor know you are trying to stop if not you should contact him or her and they should set you up with a taper plan,how long were you taking it?
s (seratonin and neuropeneferin reputake inhibitors) like effexor and pristiq. i was on zoloft for a while a couple of years back but it made me gain so much weight, gave me serious insomnia and made me emotionally numb, my doc has just put me on Pristiq which i have not started yet becuase quite frankly im scared to start. i am exploring naturopathic medicine before i give in to western medicine again.
I am a 52 year old female. Post menopause and on hormones. Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

Though, I was attended a 6 week program to help me stop drinking and that worked and I was also able to taper down to 3mg of Xanax and 1mg of Klonopin and then situational changes occurred in my life that triggered my anxiety back to where I could barely pull my sell off of bed and changed from Lexapro to Pristiq. I simply want off all of these meds, and don't know the best method.
I will only add one thing to Ryan's otherwise very good post. People do have different reactions to different drugs, even to Celexa and Lexapro or Pristiq and Effexor. While it's true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.
I called the pdoc back and he's having me take a 75 effexor xr and my pristiq 50---I guess a ween off of it, no more brain zaps for now, I dont know what will happen after I stop taking effexor all together, we shall see in a few weeks.
As for the comment above, I too have seen people have to pay out of pocket for perscriptions and its usually elderly and people like me, who had been laid off and take medications and are put into a situation of having to pay out of pocket, what to do?
I've had severe depression all my life. I had a schizoid episode when I was a teenager. Mental illness runs in my family. I take pristiq, lamactil, adderall, and clonazepam for panic attacks. I'm usually pretty stable on my meds. But I still don't understand why the hours of 1-5 p.m. are the worst for me I'm great in the morning and evening and night, but mid afternoon I go down hill and very depressed or sad. Also the weekend is very hard for me.
