Avatar f tn Just started ativan last night and I can barely stay awake today..also on ativan and abilfy..is this normal will the drowiness go away?
Avatar f tn ve been on pristiq and ativan for a Month now for anxiety and panic attacks. Neither seem to help but I am giving it another month just because I have been in very stressful situations lately that just might be too overwhelming for the medication to help.
Avatar m tn t feel comfortable taking these 3 new meds so I am going to another psychiatrist to get 2nd opinion and will continue to take 150mg of Zoloft and Ativan as needed. Is this common to add these 3 different drugs along with Zoloft?
1326513 tn?1276518001 Im currently on Ativan, Pristiq 100mg, and Seroquel XR 150mg. My dad got me a bottle of GABA to try. Is it ok to try this while im taking the other medications?
1326513 tn?1276518001 I am so so tired lately. I take Ativan when needed for anxiety, which is more like .5 mg a day, at most 1mg. I'm on pristiq for depression, and seroquoel to stablize my mood and help the pristiq work better. I'm also on toporal XL to keep my heart from racing all the time. The doctor said to avoid all caffeine which i do, only water, juice, sprite and soy milk! I avoid any type of OTC meds with caffeine too. But i am so stinking tired and have zero energy becuase of this.
Avatar m tn I was taking savella 50 mgs twice daily and blood pressure shot up to 180/100 so got off and went on Pristiq 50 mgs and blood pressure shot up to 179/93.Dr put me on blood pressure medicine.I am not convinced that I have high blood preesure.Has anyone had this probelm?
Avatar f tn Take Pristiq for depression and anxiety (has worked wonders on the depression), and have been prescribed Ativan for the more severe anxiety attacks, to be taken as needed. Have also been listening to brain wave therapy for anxiety (theta waves). Curious to know if anyone has tried this type of therapy, and if any good results were experienced.
398624 tn?1266269449 I have taken the generic xanax!! I think I took it for about a yr and my body got so immune to it that my dosage prob needed to be upped. Instead, they changed me to Ativan (well the generic Lorezapam) and that just don't work for me. I haven't been able to work in 3 yrs and have RARELY left the house in the last 2 yrs unless its to go to a dr or the store.
Avatar f tn I am a 52 year old female. Post menopause and on hormones. Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?
398624 tn?1266269449 If so, how well did it work for you? Also, is it like Lorezapam (Ativan) in which it gets in your system right away and you can feel the effects within 30-45 mins?
1460652 tn?1340248730 I have been through every ssri in the past 20 years. I am now on pristiq 75mg and lamictal 300 mg in addition to Ativan as needed. My anxiety is coming back unfortunately. My psychiatrist wants me to take gabapentin. It seems like she is just guessing at this point. Any suggestions? I know we are not doctors but I figure someone may be going through something similar. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am 23 years old and since I was roughly 12, I have taken various SSRI medications, including Paxil, Zoloft, Cylexa, and most recently, Pristiq. In conjunction, I have taken Xanax or Ativan. Each time I would take a medicine for a few months, I would begin to notice that it no longer seemed to "help", resulting in multiple switches/changes recommended by Psychs. Most recently, I missed a few doses of Pristiq.
Avatar m tn Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Avatar f tn weaning off slowly under your doctors care is the way to go with benzos...how much ativan r u on each day? and for how long? there is a web site called benzo dot uk dot org...
Avatar f tn I will only add one thing to Ryan's otherwise very good post. People do have different reactions to different drugs, even to Celexa and Lexapro or Pristiq and Effexor. While it's true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.
Avatar n tn I called the pdoc back and he's having me take a 75 effexor xr and my pristiq 50---I guess a ween off of it, no more brain zaps for now, I dont know what will happen after I stop taking effexor all together, we shall see in a few weeks. As for the comment above, I too have seen people have to pay out of pocket for perscriptions and its usually elderly and people like me, who had been laid off and take medications and are put into a situation of having to pay out of pocket, what to do?
Avatar f tn I really dont feel depressed at all,I feel ok when i had my clonazepan dosage, but what if I become an addict, how can I start taking pristiq and not being scared? Like I said above , i feel more anxious and panic than depressed. So Pristiq will work with my anxiety? What about Clonazepan withdrawals?
Avatar f tn s (seratonin and neuropeneferin reputake inhibitors) like effexor and pristiq. i was on zoloft for a while a couple of years back but it made me gain so much weight, gave me serious insomnia and made me emotionally numb, my doc has just put me on Pristiq which i have not started yet becuase quite frankly im scared to start. i am exploring naturopathic medicine before i give in to western medicine again.
1538831 tn?1294199202 benzos are not meant to be taken for long periods of time due to risk of dependence as well as the fact that your body will become accustomed to it and you will need higher doses to get the same effect. you should not be taking ativan for more than a month, i am not a doctor but i am relaying info my general MD and my psychiatrist have given to me. also ativan is a short acting benzo, you should look into starting clonazepam which is a longer lasting benzo.
Avatar n tn yes, if you go s-l-o-w-l-y there shouldn't be much of a fuss....i'm currently seeing a doctor who will be weaning be off of ativan (almost harder to get off of because of the way ativan is made and dosed)....but it's going to go so slowly and with help from some other medication that my body isn't supposed to really even feel anything super out of the ordinary....that is, if it's done right, slowly, and under a doctor's supervision....
Avatar n tn I take lithium Wellbutrin pristiq and clomping. I am going through menopause. I take about 6 six 7.5 hydros a day. I have taken the meds for 20 years, but the hydros about 2 years. Lately I have become morbidly depressed, and I need to know if you guys think its the hydros. Sometimes I do take more, but never more than 10 hydros.
1489588 tn?1303998295 When I take Savella and Pristiq together, it works wonders. When both my pain dr and my psychiatrist got together and said I couldn't take them together, I became very depressed after getting off of Savella. I didn't want to kill myself, but I sure didn't want to live. Lyrica put me to sleep in horrible ways, Cymbalta doesn't work for me and anything like Prozac or Lexapro or Zoloft is candy to me. I also take Norco.
1450085 tn?1298941702 Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.
1326513 tn?1276518001 I'm a bit surprised your doc didn't give the pristiq a bit more time to work, but he no doubt had reason for doing so. Remember, you are 'coming down' from a period of 'high anxiety' so you naturally will feel the way you do. Also the medication is getting into your system and more often then not symptoms like you are now having will taper off and go away shortly. if they get too severe then call the doc right away.
759115 tn?1256997490 My mom's taking Pristiq and she feels that it has fewer negative side effects and does a better job controlling the depression than Cymbalta and Lexapro.
Avatar f tn She gave me some samples of Pristiq and told me to immediately start taking half of one a day and to quit the bupropion all together. Its been a month now, i've gained almost 10 pounds back which I'm extremely happy about! But those sexual side effects are back once again....Mentioned it to my doc, and now she wants me to still continue on half a Pristiq a day, but add on half of my bupropion XLs to it as well.... I am afraid I will begin to lost weight on it.
6726276 tn?1421126668 m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.
455167 tn?1259257871 m taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual. I was just curious as to anyone elses experience with such a change, good or bad.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.
