Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of CampralĀ® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.

880900 tn?1467270141 In Canada, after many years of taking Premarin, my doctor replaced this prescription with something labeled CES on the label. He told me that CES was a synthetic form of estrogen. Now that I've moved to Mexico, my doctor here doesn't know what I'm talking about and has put me back on Premarin, which is very expensive here. Can anyone tell me what the full name of CES is and/or where I can find more information about it? Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
Avatar f tn I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. Avatar n tn I've been with my partner for 3 years and in the past couple of years sex has become more and more painful. I didn't have this issue when we first began having sex. Its got to the point where I'm really just not enjoying sex anymore because of the pain. I've considered that maybe I have some kind of STD but I show no other symptoms apart from pain during sex. Any ideas?

691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.

Avatar n tn I have been reading about Premarin and it can likely cause the problem. I would like to get off Premarin and take a natural hormone replacement, or should I stay on the Premarin. What do you think about that and just how do I do that? I know I shouldn't just quit taking it suddenly.
Avatar f tn Did the blood test route, etc., took whopping doses of Viatmin D and got put on Premarin, the lowest dose. I did not do well on that. I became actually worse, emotionally and it didn't help the sweats, irritability or anything. My doctor told me to try Estroven, and it's better, but I still feel like crap. I don't sleep well at all, I am irritable and snappish and that is NOT my personality. A friend told me she was in a similar state and took bio-identicals.
405614 tn?1329144114 org/posts/show/305871 I take Premarin during the placebo week of my bc pills, to ward off menstrual migraines. Also, I started using a Premarin cream twice a week after I saw the urogynecologist a week and a half ago. OK, so does anyone have any ideas as to whether any of the above could have flared me up? Or should I just accept the fact that this happens and stop racking my poor fuzzy brain?
