I am in the same boat, turning 59 this January. My total hysterectomy was in the mid 1980s. I have cut down to four tablets about five years ago and for the past two years take three (M, W, F). Still unsure of way to go, but interested in knowing more.

Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.

I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound,the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...

I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. in the beginning, when i was in pain, i felt like nobody wanted to help me. so, in a way, when i took the first OC, and i had no pain, i thought awwweee thats it! i should go on those! apparently, though, those are infact widely abused and dr's are reluctant, around here, to give u anything other than it seems freaking motrin.

If the premarin cream causes a yeast infection should I stop useing it(the premarin cream) or keep useing it. I read somewhere that you should continue useing it to get rid of the yeast infection. I am a bit confused.

I have been told it could be due to the anesthesia that I was given for several surgeries or the lack of Estrogen. Did the blood test route, etc., took whopping doses of Viatmin D and got put on Premarin, the lowest dose. I did not do well on that. I became actually worse, emotionally and it didn't help the sweats, irritability or anything. My doctor told me to try Estroven, and it's better, but I still feel like crap. I don't sleep well at all, I am irritable and snappish and that is NOT my personality. A friend told me she was in a similar state and took bio-identicals.

Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
