Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance. My doctor increased it to the next higher dosage of 0.
He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. All of which I thought was monopause. I don't know what to do. I am so scared and confused. I had an echocardigram done and the cardiologist said there were some abnormalities.
I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday. I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
I had my hysterectomy uterus and ovaries removed in 2012. I took just premarin until 2015 and then stopped. I quit the estradoil and earlier this week I went back to my old Gyn and told him about the symptoms I am having. Insomnia is the worst, anxiety, depression. He put me back on premarin .625. I have been taking this for three days now. He mentioned about the progesterone for sleep but was wanting to wait and see how I do with just the premarin. I gave it two days still poor sleep.
What are the reference ranges on your FT4 and TT3? Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report.

ve looked it up on the internet that no estrogen can cause insomnia and other problems like depression too. I have been sad and experiencing more anxiety just because I'm not getting sleep like I use to. I went to a neurologist who thinks I have obstructive sleep apnea. I don't think I do. I'm not overweight and I barely snore. I'm thinking of calling a different gynecologist to see if they can do some blood work and see if the real problem for my insomnia is no estrogen.

It has taken care of the flashes and sweats even better than the Premarin had, and unlike the Premarin, it has really helped with my mood swings, depression and other emotional issues.

I became so estrogen dominant and became a total mess. I went to a very good hormone imbalance seminar a few days ago and it was great. I think if you went off, you'll regret it in time. There are so many symptoms with low or no hormone production.
I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound,the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
The pain got much worse and I was not feeling myself so I stopped taking the premerin and opted to try a product I found on line called Amberen, so far that isnt doinganything for the hot flashes and night sweats at all but since stopping the premarin my legs are not bothering. I am taking calcium pills for my bones but I am truly worried for my health and want to find the best options for me.
I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). OK, so I went to the doctor because I initially had discharge (lasted a day or two) and itching (alot of itching) and a few small bumps on my labia mostly and vaginal area. The doctor did a culture and blood test. The blood test came back positive for herpes (1 and 2 I believe) the culture came back negative. The doctor gave me premarin cream....which wasn't working.
I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. I took myself off of Premarin in July 2016 and I feel so much better. My hair is now growing back after losing about 3/4 of it during a Lupus flare-up that lasted over 7 months. My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal.
Can I use Premarin cream along with a yeast medication(Diflucan)? Does the moisture in the Premarin cream keep a yeast infection from healing?
It seems odd to follow fibroid surgery with estrogen HRT (premarin and estrone are both types of estrogen) since estrogen causes fibroids to grow...
You should call your doctor and ask when your period should start.
I'm surprised your doctor did not tell you to use protection (condom, diaphragm) until you are ready to get pregnant since Premarin does not prevent pregnancy...

You had a hyster for an ovarian cyst? Was it cancerous? Was there another reason why they gave you the hyster? Have you had an ultrasound done recently? It is possible to have Ovarian remnant syndrome and a cyst has grown back hence the weight gain however it could be something totally different. Are you having any abdominal issues?
Thanks for responding. I have been on HRT, that's why I am seeking something alternative. HRT made me crazy..even on the lowest dosage. I foun d one bioidentical online that actually contained MSG as an ingredient and I am horribly sensitive to that, gives me migraines, which is also one of the lovely s/e of menopause.
I will look up a reproducitve endocrinologist..thanks, didn't know where to turn!
and constant nausea especially after eating. Stopped all meds and supplements except Premarin, coated aspirin, biotin, B1 and calcium with D but nothing improved - also experiencing periodic times of extreme tiredness and weakness in legs. Not overweight, very active, and exercise. Good overall health.
