Avatar f tn I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone, have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?
Avatar f tn Some of the uses of prednisone include treating autoimmune disorders, skin diseases, disorders of the endocrine system, exacerbations of multiple sclerosis, respiratory diseases (such as acute asthma exacerbation) and rheumatoid arthritis. Prednisone has many different side effects associated with its use.
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
Avatar m tn moon face, high blood pressure, profuse sweating, irratibility, inability to deal with stress, and that is not including the side effects I get to look forward to in the next 10-15 years. I hate it so much that I have started weaning myself off of it with out my Dr's guidance. I just can't take it anymore! The imuran was working really well but they had to suspend it for a while because of adverse effects.
505094 tn?1240317431 s worse), and the symptoms of Giant Cell Arteritis have gotten worse since I started on Prednisone. (sharp eye pain in both eyes now-pressure in temples, pain in temples going into the jaw). I don't know what is causing what any more. Has anyone had this cluster of diseases and had similar reactions. I do know that Prednisone can cause some of these symptoms.
Avatar f tn I suggest you read up on the side effects really good. Not everyone has the same effects. I did not gain weight but it caused me a lot of anxiety which made me think something was wrong with me. The prednisone made me feel great, took away the pain, started to shrink my mass. I was on it for about 6 weeks all together but as soon as I started tapering off, abscesses started again.
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
Avatar f tn I have gotten all the side effects from Prednisone - OsteoNecrosis of the hip (hip replacement), cataracts, high blood pressure, moon face, big belly & elevated blood sugar. Once again I'm trying to wean off this HORRIBLE drug. If I was aware of the side effects, I would never have taken this med. It has totally ruined my life.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Weight gain, fluid retention, mood swings, increased blood pressure and osteoporosis are few side effects of steroids. Cyclosporine may cause muscle pain, joint pains, heartburn etc. These two drugs form the mainstay of treatment. These side effects may gradually ware off. A low-salt diet and diuretics may help with swelling in the hands and legs. Low-protein diets may be helpful.
1523893 tn?1301579774 Sumana is right that Prednisone will cause fluid retention. It can also cause a temporary rise in blood pressure and blood sugar levels. These side effects can easily contribute to development of all the symptoms you describe. I'm surprised you didn't mention any nausea, heartburn or insomnia. These symptoms are all often near the top of the complaint list during steroid treatment.
20793681 tn?1556071128 If I stand it will go to 110 and when I walk upwards of 125 and the highest it has gotten is 160. When it gets really high I feel some slight pressure in my chest. If anyone has a premature heartbeat or skipped heartbeat you get this build up of pressure before the weird beat. It feels like that yet the pressure stays sometimes. Last week I had some pain and pressure in my chest that lasted about 4 days. Now it is just the pressure and only every now and then and slight.
Avatar f tn Wouldn't think prednisone would be a good option.. But I know that clonidine (a blood pressure med) is often prescribed for withdrawal. Also meds like Xanax can be used to treat the associated anxiety short term during wds but must be used with caution as it can be addictive and for me can cause mood swings. The clonidine however is not addictive. Ask your doc what meds might be helpful to you during wds.
Avatar f tn s no way to completely avoid weight gain or moon face as a side effect from prednisone. They are both known, common side effects and many people who have to take prednisone get them. I know about them first hand - I've had to be on prednisone quite often and often at VERY high doses, and I always get the moon face and weight gain with it, even if my eating/exercise habits don't change a bit.
Avatar n tn For the last 2-3 months, I have experienced a sharp, debilitating pain in the left mid-lung area that radiates to the left kidney area. Have HBP, RA, GERD, Depression. My RA has been controlled with 20mg of Predisone for approx 3yrs, and I have gained about 30lbs. I take approx 4 different meds to control my BP. Recently, suffered repeated bouts of Sinus infections. Prone to Bronchitis with each cold I get. I am a smoker, 1/2 to 1pk/day. Do not drink alcohol, but yes to coffee.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
Avatar f tn This has been increased to 40mg but the pain from my hiatus hernia is still present specially in my back and loads of indigestion , starts after breakfast been on these now since a week this thursday but have found that my ankles have swollen and my feet also get wheezy saw from sheet in pills that these are rare side effects so cannot decide whether to go back doctor.or not it is beginning to make me fed up.
1807991 tn?1438779770 My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?
Avatar m tn t have side effects on diabetes its a beta blocker and it treats high blood pressure and it helps people to that have problems with there heart and as well it prevents blood clots
Avatar m tn While on the pred, I experienced insomnia, and slightly increased blood pressure, but my heart rate was around 60 and didn't change. since the 2nd day after weaning off of prednisone, my symptoms have returned (ms), but my heart rate has gone from 60 bpm to 80 bpm, and my BP has gone from 116/60 to 130/80. I am otherwise healthy other than benign PVC's and PAC's, and I take a 25 mg atenolol daily for those voluntarily. With that being said, has anyone else had this happen?
82861 tn?1333453911 rather it occurs BECAUSE of HIGH adrenal steroids). One of the worst side effects is the sudden loss of blood supply to the head of the femur, causing 'avascular necrosis', a condition that requires a hip replacement and that is unpredictable. Steroids significantly increase gastric acidity, and some people can develop bleeding ulcers very quickly from steroids.
Avatar n tn Could low blood pressure be a symptom of my FEC chemo? I'm having trouble with my veins insofar as getting a canula inserted, i've had my 4th of 6 treatments (29/01/2010). I have just taken my bp and it is 91/63.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....
