Prednisolone was for heat rash and my itchy dots. Today I reduce to 10mg a day and tomorrow 10mg and next 5mg and that's it. I've been taking Prednisolone for 3 and half days so far. The main problem at the moment is just the burning face and neck, specially cheeks just under my eyes and under the chin. The burning once goes from one cheek to another or to the neck or everywhere at the same time. Is it normal in such cases? Thank you.
My GP then prescribed Predsol (Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate) drops - one drop three times daily for five days. The list of side effects looks quite scary and so far I havn't used them.

The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?

The prescription was a 10 day course and I was not informed of the side effects that I was to suffer. Because of my harried state at the clinic I neglected to ask what those side effects might be. I would know soon enough. I immediately started bloating and gaining weight. My appetite became insatiable. My moods became erratic, I became irritable, and depression set in. From what I've read online I was most likely given a generic form of Prednisolone. It has been awful.
Vosoghi will comment further as to side effects. I believe prednisolone has a tendency to increase the intraocular pressure with continuous use, but it usually is not an issue if used for a short period (i.e., 2-3 weeks or so).
I refused to take methotrexate because I cannot accept the possible side effects. I am also refusing more prednisolone because of side effects and because it does not work completely. My doctor is trying me on doxycycline just in case this is caused by a corynebacterium. I am seriously considering mastectomy.
s OK to read the package insert but understand that we use these drops on several million patients a year all over the world after cataract surgery and this is fairly standard protocol. If side effects develop, they will go away after stopping the drop. In the end do what your surgeon says to do. If you are really concerned, sometimes he may speed up the tapering but remember, the effects of not taking the drops properly are much worse sometimes than the potential side effects of the drops.

Both these drugs hydromorphine and prednisolone can produce long term effects. Morphine can cause physical dependence, decreased libido, constipation and addiction. Long term use of Prednisolone can weaken your immune system making you prone for recurrent infections. It can cause osteoporosis, stomach ulcer, cataracts, weight gain; hirsutism etc.A drug is prescribed if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Discuss your concerns with your attending doctor.
First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
Second Alrex drops have been show to have minimal side effects for long term use, likely less than Lotemax.
