Avatar f tn m going to have to go through my supplements and meds. The only new med is the Pramipexole .05 twice a day (Mirapex). The supplements are Sam-E, D 2000, A and Magnesium 250 twice a day. I'm going to cut the Pramipexole to once a day. Does anyone see if any one of these would cause this or is there a virus going around?
Avatar m tn I have been reading positive things about Pramipexole helping with pain and was thinking about suggesting it to my doc to try in combo with my Hydro. I was just curious if anyone here has any experience with it or knows someone who has?
Avatar f tn Has anyone used a patch? The only med I take is pramipexole.
Avatar f tn Dopamine is a major neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. There are several dopamine projections and if disturbed can cause neuropsychiatric and/or movement disorders. One pathway is the nigrostriatal pathway which is affected in parkinsonism disorders. Another is the mesolimbic pathway which has a key role in the positive symptoms of schizophrenia, hallucinogen use, and temporal lobe epilepsy. Mesocortical pathway is involved in information processing, attention, and wakefulness.
1192491 tn?1265031829 Currently, there is a generic available for Mirapex (Pramipexole) and it is made by TEVA pharmaceuticals. It comes in the 0.125mg, 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, and 1.5mg strength tablets.
1458799 tn?1328757528 Like Lydia said, the only way you'll know if one med is "better" than another for YOU is to give it a fair shake, which means at least (at LEAST) a month, that's as long as it can take before you can really assess its effectiveness. The switch your doc made for you is quite common, a lot of times, rather than trying another med in the same class of meds (ie another SSRI, like Zoloft/Prozac/Lexapro), they decide to try a med in a different class, as in your case.
Avatar m tn My husband is taking clonazepam .05, Lomtrigine 200 mg and pramipexole dihydrochloride 0.25 for depression, anxiety and RLS. He hasn't been able to get out of bed lately and has missed a lot of work. Could this excessive sleepiness be due to the combination of these drugs? It is not that he doesn't want to get out of bed, it's almost as if he is drugged, which led to my question. This is not normal.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for the reply. I have talked with my mother for her symptoms and asked for 2nd opinion. I may not get a chance to speak with the doctor without being in the country. But just to answer your questions: We don't Alz history. NOr she is repeating herself. Other classical signs of Alz/ Parkinson's are not present and frankly she went with stomach issues to this doctor. Its very odd to get this prescription.

Avatar f tn The conclusion of the first study was, "which could result in further decreases in dopaminergic signaling when the individual with ADHD is not medicated (i.e. over weekend holidays)." duh, of course you will have less dopaminergic signaling when you are off the medication. The whole reason you are on it is to increase the signaling. Also, it was billed as a long term study - and it lasted one year.
Avatar n tn Selegiline can be supplemented with Prevagen, alpha lipoic acid, ginkgo biloba and other supplements to preserve brain function. The supplements are available over the counter, and the Selegiline is available by prescription by your vet. Lastly, if you would like to post again please post as a new question. Otherwise it might get buried.

Avatar n tn Please can one of the doctors help me. I desperately need sleep because I have been plagued by this horrible infliction for the past 2 months now. It can keep me awake most of the night & sleep only comes early morning when this funny horrible sensation subides. My doctor has offered me tablets called Pramipexole/Mirapexin but I understand they are a brain blocker & I only take them when I am absolutely desperate.
Avatar f tn My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
1326416 tn?1370927001 Could it be that you are overly sensitive to antidepressants and just need to stay on a lower dosage? You may be reacting to too much serotonin in your system. In the beginning they help but when the serotonin levels increase, perhaps too much so, you get the symptoms you do. What medications have you tried and at what dosages?
Avatar f tn Substances Causing False Positives According to a report by the Los Angeles Times New Service, a study of 161 prescription and over the counter medications showed that 65 of them produced false positive results in the most widely administered urine test.
Avatar n tn Before taking acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, doxylamine, and pseudoephedrine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have: * liver disease; * alcoholism or cirrhosis of the liver; * heart disease or high blood pressure; * diabetes; or * a thyroid disorder.
Avatar m tn If the report doesn't specify "Free" or "FT", then the test done are Total T3 and Total T4... They aren't the same tests as Free T3 and Free T4 and don't provide the same information. Free T3 and Free T4 are the hormones that are actually available for use, while the majority of Total T3 and Total T4 are bound by proteins and can't be used. We need to know the the unbound (Free) portions, but if you don't have those, we'll make do with what you have.
Avatar m tn Zyprexa (Olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic meaning that it is both an agonist and antagonist of the dopaminergic pathways. In English, this means that it acts to decrease dopamine in certain areas of the brain where it is too high and increase it in areas where it is too low.
463707 tn?1218748031 I have tried antidepressants before and they only seemed to make me strange and feel odd.

Avatar n tn The precise mode of action for Modafinil is not yet known. Modafinil is a complex drug which appears to act on a large number of neurochemical pathways. It has only been approved for sleep/ wake disorders such as narcolepsy and although there is plenty of anecdotal evidence of use by students, it has never been studied for use in the general population.
