Avatar f tn Could the potassium nitrate in toothpaste for sensitive teeth be enough to cause palpitations? I have used it for quite a while and ran out about a month ago. When I bought toothpaste got regular by mistake and used the whole tube. During this time my palps were the best they have been in a LONG time. Hardly even noticed anything. Ran out of toothpaste, bought the sensitive stuff and after about a week I'm flipping and flopping all over the place again.

And i take a fizzy drink with mega vitamin C and high dose electrolytes which includes the potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, chloride, sodium, and bicarbonate. And i now drink it before bedtime. But it just doesn't work for me, I have no idea why...
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.

Avatar f tn In three separate studies, researchers assigned healthy volunteers to either potassium nitrate (in doses ranging from 248 mg up to 1488 mg), potassium chloride, low-nitrate water, plain water, or 250 ml of beetroot juice (roughly 8.5 ounces of the dark purple punch). The researchers took blood samples and blood pressure readings at the start of the study, and at regular intervals for the following 24 hours.
Avatar f tn A bit of history on me. I am 36 years old, have had bulimia since I was 17, doctors and family have only known since 2006 when I was hospitalized. I have some cardiac damage from purging and use of laxatives, diuretics & ipecac.
Avatar n tn Potassium and Calcium and important electrolytes in muscles. Potassium is one of those electrolytes you dont really want to be messed up in your body. High potassium levels can cause heart dysrrhythmias, since your heart is a big muscle, Other signs of hyperkalemia(increased potassium) are nausea vomitting, restlessness, irritability, I am looking in my book right now to make sure i can give you the most accurate information. Chloride there is not much on.
Avatar n tn Also buy the salt substitute potassium chloride. Try this it could take a few months to see an improvement.
976897 tn?1379167602 I visited my Doctor today and described how 8 paracetamol a day was not even controlling the powerful headaches from nitrate patches. He said unfortunately chronic headaches are a side effect for some people and my body is not really tolerant to them. It is also important to note that they didn't touch my angina. Now he has prescribed a different medication which I start tomorrow. Calcium channel blockers which he says also help to prevent spasm, IF that is my problem.
4274823 tn?1388529098 Do you have abnormal sodium and potassium readings - or low/high end readings? That is indicative of a low adrenal issue. If normal, it may be normal. As it is, you need many tests (acth, renin, aldosterone etc) and I would suggest not only the free type but also serum to get a baseline on if you have an adrenal issue. Then a stim test to finalize it.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.
