Avatar n tn Iodized salt is thus table salt mixed with a minute amount of potassium iodide, Dehydration results from the loss of water and important electrolytes from the body, including potassium, sodium, chloride, and many other minerals that are often overlooked. I am unsure y u r trying to avoid potassium as it is one of the items lacking when u dehydrate...many with chiari may have low levels of magnesium and potassium.
456906 tn?1208569831 Too much potassium can be bad for anybody...they actually use potassium chloride in HIGH concentration for lethal injection. They use the same thing in IV's in low doses to keep people hydrated in the hospital. Too much of anything can be bad. I think it would be VERY difficult to bring yourself to the point where you had too much potassium.

Avatar n tn what is the difference between Potassium Chloride, Potassium Nitrate and Potassium Citrate?
Avatar m tn The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine. I don’t need to buy relatively expensive potassium chloride. Is this true?
Avatar f tn will potassium gluconate 595mg help with dehydration. i am having hard cramps the diarrhea has stopped but i cant seem to eat and am getting weak. need help dont want to go to hospital. please help me....
1118724 tn?1357010591 Hi there - I have the same question about the salt substitute becase I read that it needs to be approved by your dr before you use it. I have cirrhosis and have had to really watchh my salt. I'm going to do that on Feb 1st. I had ascites and I have trouble keeping the fluid down in my legs from the calf down and I know there is still some fluid in the abdomen but I don't look pregnant anymore. Back to the salt substitute.
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
1618806 tn?1304734477 Dash and Morton Salt Substitute (for example) which is loaded with Potassium Chloride. If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it. Avatar n tn I've been told I should increase my electrolyte intake. I've done so but am still having problems. I'm wondering if it's because of the type of electrolytes I've been using, mainly potassium citrate and magnesium citrate. I'm mainly interested in the best electrolytes for neural and brain health and was wondering if someone could suggest me some. I'm kind of interested in magnesium chloride.
Avatar n tn The only symptom being sever diarrhea. A side from the dehydration which they gave me 2 bags of sodium chloride intravenously which completely rehydrate me. When I say sever diarrhea, I mean sever! I'd say I am having about 20 episodes per day. I am literally running into the restroom ever 10 minutes with watery green diarrhea. They prescribed cefdinir taken orally 2 times a day. Is there anything else I should worry about.
Avatar n tn she also got blood work done for signs of fatigue (showed up months before this incident) and her chloride and potassium levels were well above healthy. could this contribute to her period being late? please let me know, thanks.
Avatar f tn To prevent dehydration when you have diarrhea, it is important to drink plenty of water also you should drink fluids that contain sodium, chloride, and potassium (Fruit juices, sports drinks, sodas without caffeine, and salty broths) as they are lost if you have a lot of diarrhea. You might ask the doc about any anti-diarrhea med that you can take that won't affect your status in the trial. Good luck!
Avatar f tn No!

Avatar f tn You may want to get your blood electrolytes take (sodium , potassium, chloride and CO2) to see if you have a imbalance of these. You can also drink gatoraide and a banana to try to increase your potassium.
Avatar f tn With my last pregnancy i was put in the hospital 3 times for dehydration. Thankfully my boyfriends mother went out and got me saltines and gingerale and i have been able to hold that down. When my mother comes to get my daughter for the weekend so i can rest and not have to worry or stress and so i can hopefully go to work she is bringing me Pedialyte pops... i guess they are mainly used for babies when they gets sick so they dont dehydrate u am going to try those.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.
