Tony, I was reading your previous comment that lactated ringers are safer than .9% saline for kidney disease. My dog also has Addison's now, and people on the FB Addisons group were telling me I should not use lactated ringers with Addison's because it would elevate potassium. But, you're saying .9 saline shouldn't be used on kidney disease because of the high level sodium?
I discussed this with my IMS vet and she was adament I stay with lactated ringers.
AI is a salt wasting disease. I have AI - my sodium and potassium are always off when I am ill, and usually when I am feeling okay still at the upper or lower end of limits. I have to take a medication to hold sodium.
Yes, renin/aldosterone control the sodium/potassium system, but AI will lower sodium, and sodium will effect potassium.
But you can have a renin/aldosterone issue without having a cortisol issue as well.
Our 14 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix was diagnosed with CKF over 8 months ago and his levels were high. We changed his diet K/D, give him aluminum hydroxide gel, metochlopramide, and meloxicam. E has had some progressive muscle wasting in his back legs but still was able to walk a mile a day. 5 days ago he starting vomiting everything he ate, we changed to ondansetron for naseau. He is now unable to walk but eating and drinking. We are carrying him out to use the bathroom.

Your symptoms could be due to lower than normal potassium and sodium. I advise seeing that same MD for follow up. Increase potassium by eating potatoes, drinking orange juice, and use a multivitamin with potassium.

Did you apply any moisturizer beforehand?This can also cause bitter taste of skin.
