Avatar f tn I read something where one of the electrolytes either sodium or chloride increases during ovulation. I think its sodium mainly, and also potassium. I would have to look it up again. I no there is a fertility watch that detects the rise of sodium level which would indicate ovulation.

Avatar n tn Hello, The bitter taste on the skin can be due to more amount of sodium or salts being secreted in the sweat. When the water in the sweat evaporates, it leaves the salts (sodium, chloride and potassium) behind on your skin, which is why your skin tastes salty. If there is any excess of salts then it can give a bitter taste. Excess salty sweat is found in cystic fibrosis. Symptoms are salty tasting or bitter skin, constant coughing or large amounts of mucus and respiratory difficulty.

Avatar f tn In physiology, the primary ions of electrolytes are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), chloride (Cl−), hydrogen phosphate (HPO42−), and hydrogen carbonate (HCO3−). The electric charge symbols of plus (+) and minus (−) indicate that the substance in question is ionic in nature and has an imbalanced distribution of electrons, the result of chemical dissociation".
1618806 tn?1304734477 d say just stay away from potassium supplements or salt substitutes like Mrs. Dash and you will probably be ok. If you start having muscle cramps though, it could be a sign that your potassium is too high. If that happens, go to the doctor and they will do bloodwork to test your levels. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Have you had your potassium level checked lately? I would start there to make sure that you are not very low on potassium.
